Thank you. Do you know Nigerian market turned Alomo bitters to a big company. It was just a local small factory operating in Ghana for several years. Immediately they entered Nigerian market they even started advertising on TV and billboard.

Afamed:

This is a great opportunity for us to grow our local productions. For how long should Nigeria be a dumping site? At this 21 century, you have to rely on importation of Rice, Turkey and Pine Apple. How do we develop if we simply can't produce what we want to eat ? How do we reduce unemployment when virtually 100% of our consumptions are imported? My Brother we definitely have to start from somewhere. We have the very reach fertile soil with over 923,990 land mass.

sorry tosay you are no where compare to Ghana in economic matters.
and this is not sentiment but fact

the Ghanaian economy is more diversified than yours
the Ghanaian economy is more resilient than yours .

those are all factual statements
Ghana may have a small population, but has made great use of that small population to achieve result.

this is not to say we dont have our own unique problems.
Nigeria really need to get it act together and fix it problems.

the country can start with the recommendation from Sanusi the past governor
hmmm I reserve my comments here. If your nation Ghana were to be in the shoes of Nigeria over all her troubles all this while, she (your almighty Ghana )would have cease to exist on the world map by now.I wonder what you ,mean by Ghana economy blla bla ... do you know the level to which we work all the way to make incomes in Nigeria ??your guys in Ghana can't come any closer to Nigerians in terms of hustling, the average Ghanaian be en a Male is utmost lazy, trust me I have been thier before

I'm Nigerian and I've followed many of your comments and have to admit in many cases you are right. The standard of living in Ghana may be better but in no way can you say Ghana is a bigger economic power than Nigeria. You know it and I know it. The major reason why infrastructure wise Ghana is better than Nigeria is simply because of one thing: CORRUPTION.

You talk of 24/7 electricity in your country but forget your electricity is supplied from Nigeria. You can imagine the impact on your economy of a shutdown in our gas supply.

You should even be thanking Nigeria for the current status of your economy because if not for the Ghana must go episode of the 80s many Ghanaians would not have gone home to transform their economic fortunes.

As for the land border closure, as far as I'm concerned, it's just a big joke because the borders cannot be closed forever.

What the government should be focused on is how to reduce the final cost to market of Made in Nigeria goods to make them more competitive as we have a big enough domestic market for there to be a significant positive economic impact if more Nigerians patronise locally made goods if they are cheaper and better made.
Ghana does not have a better infrastructure than Nigeria.
Stop talking nonsense.
They have a small country and it is nothing special.

They don't even a decent rail to cover their small country.

When Ghana locked just 400 Nigerian shops in a town in Kumasi alone, your government and trade unions were organizing protest at the ECOWAS office crying xenophobia and free trade buh you're here shouting Giant of Africa because you have unilaterally closed your borders to starve yourselves to death. GUTA had always hated you since Kwame Nkrumah and you have foolishly gave them a chance to eliminate you from Ghana. For your information millions of Nigerians live in Ghana and do trade of imports and exports. GUTA was the one who locked all your shops in Kumasi. Now tell me,Ghana exports goods worth just 80 million dollars to Nigeria for a country who exports 17 billion dollars worth of goods outside, less than 0.5% goes to Nigeria buh Nigeria exports goods worth 303 million dollars to Ghana in a year.If Ghana bans your goods, tell me who loses more. The minister is just a diplomat who knows how ugly it will be if Ghana retaliates so she's going diplomatic first to tell you to comply ECOWAS protocols .Warning to your country if you refuse her diplomatic settlement. Ghana never needs Nigeria.
nonsense.that $303million is what our Central Bank give our commercial banks who in turn give importers..for a period of two months... Very insignificant amount

Grow some sense Charlie. The fact that Ghana buys more from Nigeria shows they need Nigeria more than Nigeria needs them. Its not about us exporting $303m to them yearly its about them accepting to buy $303m worth of our exports yearly and this shows Ghana needs Nigerian goods far more.

Ever since the border closure the cedi has lost 8 points in value and keeps getting worse. This is the major reason Ghana is pleading for the border to be reopened. The border closure has affected the entire Africa in some way since Nigeria is the most populous black Nation and the chief consumer of exports from other African countries which in turn adds to their economy while taking away from ours.

We just sneezed once and you are all complaining. What would them happen if we develop whooping cough?

Stupid people, so they like to pass their goods through the porous borders instead of the ports so they can escape duties. Nigeria should fully boycott Ghana's imports, yeye small austerity nation.

Most countries of the world employ protectionist policies. Donald Trump is a hardliners protectionist. He has imposed tarrifs on almost all goods coming into the US. He does not believe in free trade and open borders. Same with China. China is over protectionist. You cannot import anything freely into China, not even technology. It is only weak developing nations that the western developed countries through the world Bank and IMF tries to force to open their borders to free trade.
The only reasonable comment I have seen so far

Who ever said that definitely must be Economical with the truth. How can you compare Ghana development with approximately land Mass of 238,535 klm with Nigeria land Mass of 933,763klm. The whole development in Ghana does not exceed what we have in Lagos State

Some EU countries have populations just about 0.5 - 5% of Nigerian population, and with landmass of still about the same proportion or less, but they are much more developed than Nigeria. A typical example is Luxembourg.

We deceive ourselves that Nigeria is a rich and powerful country because of the large population and a GDP that is the largest in Africa, but you can only understand how poor Nigeria is when you calculate its GDP per capita. That's when you realise it is a poor country even with the whole crude oil.

no amount of insult will make you sound reasonable

Even in the villages, everyone cooks with LPG
unlike your poor country where LPG is not even affordable .

In the villages, Ghanaian households build their own toilets and bath in their houses to feel comfortable living aaaaaaaaat home
pit latrines stopped being a thing in the 80s

hope your country manages to change the bushy lives of it 100 million extremely poor citizens like Ghana have done.
where they dont have to result to open defecation or cook with tree logs.

100 dollars can buy you very little in the US
but when you bring it to both Nigeria and Ghana
it is big money, isnt it ?

that is how value is measured

if i bring 100 cedis to Abuja like ive done before, it is big money
because your country is so worthless and i can buy the entire Abuja.

Your 10K will do very little in Ghana
even electricity bill will finish your worthless 10K

Another fool talking.

The Ghanaian economy is a highly dollarized one. Why? the currency has become more worthless in the last three years.

100 GHS cannot even buy 20 litres of fuel. Fuel in Ghana is pegged to the US dollar.
How much are hotel rooms in Ghana? You cannot get a hotel in Osu area for anything less than $100 (540 GHS) a night. This is for a cheap hotel. The high end ones are far more expensive. In the hotel, they will even tell you to pay in US dollars if you have.

Infrastructure: apart from better electricity and a better educational system, where are the infrastructure? Is it the roads? The roads are narrow and many have craters, not potholes.

Tax: Ghana pays VAT of 13.5% to 17.5%. A bottle of Malta Guiness is on the average, 3.5 GHS. N245 on the average; what we buy N150 here. Very expensive. One egg costs 80 pesewas for a small one and 1 GHS for a big one. That is between N56 to N70 for one, as opposed to N30 for a raw one.

Things are bloody expensive in Ghana and even cost of foodstuff is high. Enter the streets of Ghana and ask the average Ghanaian if their living costs are low. They are all complaining and their standard of living is definitely not higher than in Nigeria.

People like this fellow can talk lies thinking they can deceive everyone. I go to Ghana and stay sometimes a month there and I know what's up.
