you got me on this,it's true this single act can be considered to be the masterstroke of his administration. besides he didn't barn importations,he only closed the land boarders due to neighbouring countries being parasites to our economy. whoever wants to import has other options to explore (sea and air).

I love you man. Thanks for your objectivity. You are sound, open-minded and very cerebral.

Enjoy your day!

they just have to put up a false reportage and the government will rush to fix the problem of the particular community.

That reportage was done by citifm to get the government to fix a problem in Nigo Prampram

86% of Ghana population have access to improve water and sanitation

47 million Nigerians practise open defecation – UNICEF
80 million in dire need of improved toilet

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said that no fewer than 47 million Nigerians still indulge in open defecation in the country.

Also, 33 million people in the country use unimproved toilet, while 90 percent of households use water that is contaminated.

Now, UNICEF further said, about 80 million Nigerians are in dire need of improved toilet as unsafe drinking water, open defecation and poor hygiene have remained major causes of under-5 death in the country.

This is coming on the heel of the newly released 2018 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey (NDHS,2018), which revealed that the number of under-5 children dying yearly have continued to increase in the last 5 years.

The latest NDHS document states that under-5 death increased from 128 deaths per 1,000 live births in the 5 years prior to the 2013 NDHS, to 132 deaths per 1,000 live births in the most recent 5-year period (about 1 million U-5 children die yearly).

Many of these needless deaths have been traced to diarrhoea and water borne disease. Latest findings from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources (FMWR) states that more than 100,000 children under 5 die each year due to diarrhoea, making Nigeria the second country with the highest Children’s death from diarrhea.

These deaths could however be reduced if there is an end to open defecation and practice of good hygiene, sanitation, UNICEF-Nigeria Communication Specialist, Geoffery Njoku, told journalists, during an EU-UNICEF sponsored media dialogue on sanitation tagged “CLEAN NIGERIA: USE THE TOILET”, which held yesterday at Tahir Hotel Kano, Kano state.

According to him, there’s a huge link between sanitation, open defecation and child survival, hence the need for all to join #The Clean Nigeria Campaign.

A breakdown of the deplorable situation of open defecation, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) situation in Nigeria, by WASH Specialist, UNICEF-Nigeria, Bioye Ogunjobi states that

“1 in 3 Nigerians does not have access to basic drinking water services. 90 percent of households use water that is contaminated.

your economy is heading back into recession and bankruptcy is shortly ahead of you.

Your economy is highly dependent on Ghana for purchases
there is an oversupply in all your highest export commodities

if Ghana stop importing crude and gas from your country, your economy will head into recession

British council and other UK agencies are becoming aggressive to lure Nigerian students to studying at UK because attention is shifting to greener pastures like Australia, Canada and schegen countries. Of what gain is to study there and lay you off like trash after spending huge amount of pounds.

Population of Nigerian students in Ghana is high and if they decide to withdraw, it will affect your revenue to an extent.

Why bother about these small neighboring countries due to geographical reasons. The United States has Haiti, Cuba, etc boardering it yet picks Europe , Asia as real business partners.
We should only deal with Kenya, South Africa and select countries . Time for big brother sentiments is over. Shut the boarder for 48 months , and our exotic taste will correct itself . But we should have a consistent policy direction.

Do you think Ghana have your time to be exporting rice to your country. We're having the same issue when government spends more than 1 billion dollars a year to import rice into our country for consumption. Do you realize we are the 2nd largest consumers, market and economy in West Africa and our consumption alone is a huge chunk on our foreign exchange. We have a population of 30 million and a GDP Purchasing power of almost 200 billion dollars. Did you see me telling you Nigeria exports goods worth 306 million dollars to Ghana in 2018 alone. Our exports to Nigeria is just 80 million dollars. Togo exploits us due to their free port just like Benin does to you.We have the same issues. Our exports to Nigeria is mostly Nigerian companies who relocated to Ghana and use the ECOWAS free trade route to export some of their goods to your market. We both loose if we start a trade war buh Nigeria loses badly. That's why your government have agreed with Ghana to open a temporary corridor for Ghanaian trucks to enter and leave Nigeria amidst the border closure .GUTA still refused for that and wants a ban of Nigerian goods and traders in Ghana. Our rice is even very different from yours and you will never find your type of rice in Ghana. Our rice cooks in just 20 minutes.
young man! If you re not really pained about this, why come here to start preaching?as long as I understand, Nigeria can be self sufficient in its products without exporting the junks from neighbouring countries, security of Nigerians first before any other interest

With improved water sources available to 80 percent of the population, Ghana has made progress in safe water access at a national level. In 2014, 14,700 people gained access to improved water supply and 9,270 people gained access to improved sanitation facilities. Additionally, 25 communities, including a number of schools, were declared “open-defecation-free,” an accreditation that demonstrates improved knowledge, attitude, and practices of the communities and individuals related to hygiene and hand-washing.

However, maintenance and management remains a challenge, and access to improved sanitation (15 percent for urban residents, 6 percent for rural residents) is lower than in other African countries. Rapid urbanization is further stressing urban access to sanitation and clean water.

USAID intervenes to increase access to clean drinking water and to sanitation facilities. Programs like the Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Health Activity also encourage individuals and communities to adopt positive water, sanitation, and hygiene practices while strengthening the community’s ability to plan, manage, and sustain activities. USAID will continue to partner with Rotary International(link is external) and Coca-Cola(link is external) to extend the reach of WASH programs.

Your reasoning level is obviously low. It's not economical for a country to produce all that he consumes. You produce what you have comparative advantage over and import the ones you don't. What is cost of producing 1kg of rice in Nigeria and 1kg in Thailand? don't quote me again with your low IQ Biko.
