His transportation is already cheap. At 8000 for a month and working from Mon-Fri and using 20 working days, that comes to 400 daily which is 200 to/fro. So the transport cost is reasonable. Was even surprised that it is that cheap to VI.

Sorry, I thought I saw a week.

Bro,

Stop number 3 completely, I would advice you save the cash. Control number 4(I mean 3 kids is beyond okay man). Also, you need a new job with a better pay or another source of income.

Lastly, talk to your madam(wife), I'm aware that it is tough out there but anything is better than doing nothing.

The offering is for the whole family..2kids 100 each me n wifey 200 each x 4

Ask your wife to get a job.
You earn very little and you're definitely living above your means. Things will only worsen as the children get older, so the earlier your wife starts contributing to the family income, the better

This, right here shows that the traditional family settings as we know it is becoming null and void in this century. Men can no longer fend for our families without relying heavily in our wives. Practically, 80% of the commenters are requesting to know what the wife is bringing to the table without checking that the list does not contain any nanny or house help allowances. So obviously the wife is contributing massively albeit unnoticeably.
So op, weigh your options and drop the church AID that is zapping 15% of your salary.
As others opines, encourage your wife to start up something from home depending on how young your children are ..handiwork, small scale businesses or teaching home lessons. Anything apart from this will incure more expenses to your already dwindling economy.
You can also transfer to a less expensive city or state.

Cut all you want, truth is that money can't feed your family. Consider a side business (weekend runs) or encourage your wife to start a business at home.

Please read the last statement again. I recommend business, not a 5am -- 10pm job. If you push her far away to go do one of these yeye slavery jobs, you will end up spending half of that stressed salary on nanny/househelp, mama put/cook and daycare. While her salary will go 100% on transportation [agberos], drugs for headaches & backpain, and mamaput.

I salute men that take care of the family without stressing their wives. REAL MEN.

@bolded is the reality nowadays sadly.

In all honestly I looked at that list over and over again they are really not spending too much considering they have 3 children, just that the salary cant cover their expenses.

They even have it good some families have it worse.

Op can have a side hustle.

I would say leave your tithe to God alone, it is (for me) one way to honour and thank Him for blessing/giving us what we have in the first place. He is the giver of the gift, do not start to like or cherish the gift more than the giver.

Secondly, our tithes/offering are meant to help the poor, needy and less privileged in our churches as well as further the work of God's kingdom on earth.

Even if our churches have failed or are failing to do the above, we shouldn't fail as true believers to do good, do right and do well by God. He doesn't need our money to bless us or still love us, but I think it honours/pleases him when we respond to Him in little ways like this.

You can still help the poor, needy and less privileged in your own way if you choose to, but I have seen the good work my home church does through outreach ministries to prisons, to children of fathers in prison, widows, orphans etc and I appreciate what we are able to do together as the people of God, more people are helped when we pool resources together rather than trying to do stuff on our own as one person.

I struggled with paying my tithes/offering to my church at one point but when I saw video evidence and heard testimonies of lives touched, helped and transformed it brought tears to my eyes and it gingered me to continue giving because others benefit from our collective effort.

A lady I know rarely struggles with paying her bills. She's a single mother raising her child by herself, she always has her son's school fees on time, house rent on time (even her landlord said I have never had a tenant like you cheesy) does international travel frequently etc. Pls note she is not working with a multinational or doing sugar daddy runs to survive, when I asked her how she is able to stay on top of these bills, she pointed me to scripture, the part where it says in particular that the devourer will not devour you if you honour God with your resources.

Sorry this got longer than I intended but I like to share true life stories when it comes to God to encourage and build others up.
u are simply deluded. He should keep paying tithe he cant afford abi . He is a needy. Will the church support him with 50k. Nonsense

Ain't she helping already by doing the unpaid work of a cook, cleaner, nanny, house-help, home teacher and a whole lot more.
Do you know what will happen if she starts working especially in this Lagos cesspool?
Let me break it down: someone else will be paid to do those jobs from both their pockets which they cannot afford now. The much they can do now is for the wife to get something she can be doing from home that will not be stressful or the home-front will suffer. At least until the kids are old enough to take care of the basics.

Op, you are not living above your income, as a matter of fact, you have managed your income well, your income isn't just enough and you need extra income from side hustles to augment your income.

As for your kid's school, I know everyone wants the best school for their kids but then with your monthly income, the fees are a bit high. I don't know where you live as I am not familiar with Lagos but I know there are Police children schools in Lagos and its up to four in different locations, why not try them, they have quality teachers, more than enough staff and the standard is really high with fewer school fees, what you currently spend per child in a month is about their entry fee which covers Uniforms, books and other levies and subsequently you won't pay more than 6300naira(for Police learners) or 9300naira(for Civilian learners) per term depending on the class and that's the highest for a primary 5 learner. You can even use a Police officer as guardian for the kids so you can pay the Rank and File fees which is for Police learners.

Church, i may not want to dabble much into this as i am not a Christain and i don't really understand the significance of tithe but the common sense in me would not agree with paying as much as 15,000 naira out of a monthly income of 100,000 naira, you may want to look into that.

Anything outside these two, you are not spending too much at all. Don't mind those saying you should leave Gotv, how much is gotv bill out of 100,000naira? If your kids can't go on outings and all, they deserve to see good programmes on TV and your wife deserve to watch great programmes too.

You have done your best my man, I salute you. However, this issue of tithe for a struggling man is unacceptable for now. You should wait till you are a bit better off, after all if you have an emergency and you need a loan, the church wouldn't give you but will advise you to pray.
Life is tough for a man in this country. To be honest I don't see anything you can cut out apart from the tithe. It's easy to talk of a side hustle when you don't have capital. However, if you can find a service to offer at weekends that will bring you extra cash, do not hesitate. You are a disciplined man, alot will rather spend half of that income on wine, women and gambling.

OP: Undergo vasectomy for your future. You have three kids already, any mistake can land you in five. Think about your children's future; education, healthcare, transportation, other living expenses etc. On the other hand, start preparing your children for scholarship competitions so that their education funding will be sorted out.

What you need to do is to grow your income but not your expenses. Even if you start earning 200K tomorrow and you add two more kids, you are back to square one.

To be a man ain't easy in Nigeria. Chai!

Stories for the gods. Tell us her salary so that we can analyse. Never knew that manna now falls from heaven. Please point us to where to get this manna so that everybody in Nigeria can go and pick it.

The only thing I can say is feeding, cut that N8000 rice to N4000, change that Milk, Milo and Juice to rich Kunu and Zobodrink (N2000), remove GOTV for now, change your children's school (N15K per month max) or if your wife is a graduate she can try homeschooling while you save for their secondary education.

Better. It curtails the quantity the kids scoop as they can no longer scoop from the can. There is now 3-in-1 which comes handy.
