it is not ok if a rider call you via uber, and then tries to initiate an offline trip
if the rider already has your contact from a previous trip, then the rider can engage you, outside of ubers platform

it is not ok if i walk into the honda place and tell the mechanic working on my vehicle, lets take this outside honda
it is not ok if the mechanic working on my vehicle tells me - lets take this outside honda
if i have collected the mechanics contact and have an issue in the future, i can call him and engage him directly outside of the honda place

That could happen on any trip. If you're not prepared for those hazards then you shouldn't be in the business. Everything comes with a risk. E.g. right now I have a customer who brought a car that I can't fix because my specialist is sick. Does the customer want to hear it? No. If you want to have the luxury of picking and choosing trips, then you should do it on your own platform. As someone pointed out, drivers accepted the terms and conditions when they signed on.

But why is it that uber allows the driver to see rider destination before accepting a trip in other countries, except for Nigeria.

Why do they deliberately take advantage of certain negative peculiarities of the Nigerian business environment to shortchange their driver-partners?

You mean in other countries where they operate, the rider's destination is known beforehand.

http://www.businessinsider.com/uber-bug-sending-drivers-to-destinations-before-picking-up-passenger-2019-7

Many Uber drivers and riders are reporting a peculiar problem: drivers were being sent to their destinations instead of the pickup point.

The issue appears to be mainly affecting the Uber Driver app, which is a separate product from the rider app, and sending drivers to a requested destination before picking up the passenger who requested to go there.

"It showed me my pickup location correctly," one disgruntled customer said on Twitter. "It showed the driver my destination location, instead. This happened 2x. The second time, I called the driver and reset my pickup location w/o moving the pin. Only then did the driver get the correct location."

Usually, drivers are not shown a riders' destination until the ride has begun. This helps to avoid cancelled rides if a driver doesn't like the direction or length of a requested trip.

This issue is similar to what was discussed in this thread few pages back.

https://www.nairaland.com/5487764/after-one-week-asked-salary

Just one week after resumption, the lady demanded for salary increase.

Now, it would have been better if she demanded for workload reduction or an assistant than demanding for salary increase.

What she's saying is that she can actually handle the workload but her 45k is not commensurate with the workload. That's absurd and appalling.

I wanted everyone to reason this out, but you have given them the expo.

In short, it is not Ok if rider or driver cheats the platform that brought them together. Shikena.

Shouldn't that ' IF' apply also in Lagos, where 80% of the road network actually qualifies as 'offroad'

I have been looking for this hp agreement for almost a month now. I was opportune to find a very robust hp agreement but the owner requested that I pay him 2k before he released it to me because it was written by his lawyer. I had quoted someone earlier who needed same hp agreement template stating that we should split the requested 2k in equal part then pay the guy to get it but that guy I quoted went silent.

So if you are game we can share the cost.

lol indirectly you're saying "NO" you won't fix, help or play a part incase any hazard should occur en-route destination right? And at same time you think partners shouldn't ask a Rider's destination and just drive to whatever ocean or Hell terrain he/she decides to take you through right lol? (Typical mentality of an average Nigerian grin grin ,, )
what do you know about Uber/taxify drivers terms and conditions, hv u driven on the platform before or hv you ever been to the training undecided undecided

i have been riding on uber for the past four months.
before i could register this complaint, i had to COMPLETE my registration on the website and set up an email address.

https://www.uber.com/global/en/sign-in/

prior to this, i had NEVER had any notifications outside of the app
the moment i did this, i started getting notifications in my email of every trip i had done.
i hope this clarifies.
this is also applicable to anyone who rides uber for business trips
for anyone riding uber for business trips, this is how you generate receipts that can be tendered
this can be presented as a receipt - something most of the dodgy jokers herein will not understand tongue

obviously every Driver has to do a COMPLETE registration, since the driver is the one in a business relationship proper

this foolish response is precisely why i say so many of you are unemployable . you continue to demonstrate a complete lack of logical thinking

nice attempt at trolling, though. lets see what your next step will be

we have moved from broke mofo to you dont ride uber to festac to wow so you are registered on uber

keep on with the mentions, but don't bi-tch about the responses tongue

Oga don't you have any job to do? Or is your job description trolling ppl on nairaland? Dont you think you're defrauding your employer by doing Nairaland instead of working?

I will say what my boss said once, if this job was easy, you would not be doing it. Every job has great days and horrible days. My commute to work used to be Orile. I have been robbed there once, once on Xmas eve, they came close but I had already sighted them and taken evasive action, several times boys tried intimidation and I showed craze. Can you tell them at work I can't make it because road is bad? I have slept over night at sites. I have used my own money on projects.

I am simply saying you have to go the extra mile. And it has to be an attitude.

We had a project years ago in Ijora. A real mess. Towards the end we were in crunch and it was hell. The contractor had one guy who had been disturbing all of us to assist him with employment. The guy just vanished as the going got tough. I cannot kill myself. Meanwhile there was a youth corper who was working overnight, dropping his own money to make things move. After the project we had a vacancy and I called him without him calling me. I told him all he needed to know and we engaged him. This was five years ago and he has been on the system since in one way or another.

He could also have said not my problem, I am not paid enough for this, they are cheating me. He would have been right and he would have missed the opportunity that materialised.

You do not always know who your ride is.

And you do not always know when opportunity is knocking

Leave these people alone.
Imagine the audacity "Driver shouldn't cancel any ride, or they should leave the platform"
Why don't they say "Uber shouldn't make non cancellation mandatory, or they should provide the cars"
Why not Uber provide the cars if they want to mandate non cancellation? Who bears these costs of repair, Uber or riders?

Any driver is free to cancel any trip. If a driver decided to ask for destination, it is his decision as no one shares in his cost of repairs.

Drivers are entitled to protect their investments (Cars)
