I just dey wait to hear initial price of the new consoles. With all the hardware speculations out there, i'll be surprised if the starting price is below $800.

Every five years is not too bad.

In five years most gaming pcs will also be obsolete in one way or another. Unlikely that a pc from 2014 will support usbc, nvme drives and ddr4 ram.

Prices may drop as xbox is dropping dvd support.

Having usb c or nvme drives is unimportant in gaming.

And as far as ram goes, having high speed rams has little effect on game performance. Where ram really earns its stripes regarding performance is if it's in multi-channel mode as opposed to single channel

Lol. There's no need to form all knowing smart áss.

All nvme does for you is improve loading speeds. Not like it gives you an fps boost or a major advantage over someone playing on a 5400rpm drive.
As for the ram thing, i dont know if u have a hard time understanding simple English. Coz i never said ram, or having too much of it was unimportant. A dual channel 16gb pc gives better performance than a single channel 16gb pc. If you dont know this, then that's ur personal problem.

MY ALIENWARE is 2012 and i still run new games at HIGH SETTINGS 1080P

Upgraded the Ram to 24GB

Added extra Samsung SSD 500 x 2

true that. though it really depends on the user.

as geek matter, before i play a game, especially an older one, i want to get all the recommended mods and tools so i can have the best gaming experience

i say games have a triangle of story, gameplay, graphics.

example

my kids had terraria on their tablets, and they love it. so i figured ok - let me get it on their pcs. [their pcs are low end [intel 520 gpu]
terraria ran fine, but of course being me, i went to go and read up on all the best mods etal
ok downloaded mod tool, downloaded mods, installed them
next thing terraria will not launch. the mods use up ram, and terraia is a 32 bit program.

there is a tool/mod to tewak terrair to 64 bit, which will resolve this issue - but it means i have to get a LEGIT version of terraia
so i have to buy terraia keys for both kids.
i do this, install the mod, run terraia again, and it launches with no issues. it is now chopping close to 8gb of ram though

i did same with minecraft, though unfortunately, minecraft mods are kind of broken. will have to revisit

with regards to hardware - it depends on your choices. i want my games to load FAST, and i want them available. so i swapped out the hdd that came with my pc for an ssd, then swapped out that ssd for a larger ssd. now we are approachin full capcity again [forza horizon ultimate is like 120gb ]

PC gamers eh. There was this guy back in school who had an Alienware laptop (a pretty current model, at the time.) And one of my tech friends used to boil internally whenever he saw the guy with the laptop. Apparently, after persuading the guy to try out other games apart from FIFA/PES, dude wouldn't even bother to learn how to adjust the settings to get optimal output. My friend weeps inside his soul everytime he sees the dude gaming at average quality. He likened it to having a sports car and never going past 60kmph.

my bad i meant to say 2014 which is 5 years old and still waxing !!!

PC gaming is far far better than console in terms of quality but what consoles have over pc is user base and i seriously envy that. when playing FIFA or other multiplayer game especially in nigeria, you have to wait forever in the lobby before you are able to be paired with someone.

i visited my friend and tried his multiplayer, it's like people are waiting for you in the lobby even in COD. that's sad men

secondly PC gamers are hardcore gamers ( i will still refer to multiplayer) so it's very difficult to meet someone of your skills online they always play like life is war, no casual gamer..


in this era of multiplayer you will enjoy console far far more than PC and i am saying this a PC Gamer!!!



i have been thinking about buying PS4 pro for a while now but the thought of PS5 coming out next year ( rumour ) is a deal breaker for me. plus i travel a lot so i get to carry my laptop anywhere i'm going and just connect to any TV with the HDMI cable. also when playing multiplayer and light go off i will still be able to finish the game without disconnecting which count as loss unlike console

That probably depends on the games you're playing imho. There are always people to play Fortnite with. I don't really do online multiplayer esp with our Internet being what it is

Na so. We have a corsair one and my kids understand that the first thing you do is go into settings and ramp that game up to 4k.

I no go lie, at 4k and ultra settings, some games are just BEAUTIFUL.
