Today Sunday, October 27th, would have been Dr. Stella Adadevoh's 63rd birthday.
She saved the nation from what would have been a disastrous epidemic (Ebola virus).
I choose to remember her today so I can let Nigerian know that there is still a little good and selflessness inside of us if we look deep.
She could have been selfish, she could have played ignorant, she could have been wicked after all she never bargained for it, but she choose not to. Its that choice she made, that made this country escape that epidemic.
I choose to remember her and her brave nurses this day.

She is credited with having curbed a wider spread of the Ebola virus in Nigeria by placing the patient zero, Patrick Sawyer, in quarantine despite pressures from the Liberian government. When threatened by Liberian officials who wanted the patient to be discharged to attend a conference, she resisted the pressure and said, “for the greater public good” she would not release him. She is known for preventing the Nigerian index case from leaving the hospital at the time of diagnosis, thereby playing a key role in curbing the spread of the virus in Nigeria. On 4 August 2014, it was confirmed that she had tested positive for Ebola virus disease and was being treated. Adadevoh died in the afternoon of 19 August 2014. She was survived by her husband Afolabi and son Bankole among other relatives.

I saluate your heroic bravery madam in the service of greater good. You did not bow to pressure from the Liberian government to release Patrick Sawyer the first Ebola virus victim. You created a makeshift quarantine and helped curb the spread of the deadly virus with a high mortality rate.
Millions were bound to die. You averted a danger worst than those posed by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram. A public holiday should be declared in your favor. Also I hail all the medical personnel's that worked hand in hand with you during the time Nigerian needed you most
Utimately, you paid with your life in defence of my country.

You are the super woman I know.

May your family find the strength to bear this loss

True hero of our time. She is the saviour of Nigerians. Because of her millions of Nigerians are alive today, yes, even most of us commenting here on NL.

She deserves to have a national holiday on the day of her passing. Including that nurse who also died.

The Lead consultant/specialist is always the one that's referenced in every or most medical cases. Ben Carson didn't perform that op on the conjoined twins alone but he is the only one known worldwide.
