There's nothing like being late in life, when there's life, there's hope and you're not the fire person to have an extra year in school and you will not be the last person. Stay woke!

your negative vibes later succeeded on your academic prowess. even in your write up, you're not taking responsibility for your nonchalant academic life

you hate your mom, you couldn't put her in consideration with your pessimistic view on education with your alternative mindset of learning skills/trading. so how do you think you will succeed in that skills/trade? if you've little setback in trade/skills you will still found yourself in this scenario

I'm not writing for you to feel depressed but please take responsibility for your nonchalant attitudes, taking responsibility will make you to sit tight on what next. not taking responsibility for this your predicament might lead you beyond what you might be unable to handle

I think you are one of the few people that even know what's going on. This is not a matter of picking one's self up. The question is if he even wants to do it in the first place. I think you nailed it! He has to take responsibility for his nonchalant attitude! Other than that, it's the same thing all over again.

Few months ago, i created a thread on front page on how i have lost interest in school and education because of my poor academic performance

https://www.nairaland.com/5253585/help....i-lost-interest-school-pls

Today i just found out that i failed two of my final year papers, thus giving me an extra year, i didn't know at first but as my mom kept pestering me to apply for law school, i had to check the list my school forwarded to Abuja, Garki, for those eligible to apply for law school, and discovered my name was not included.

I was discombobulated because i already made good the due process involved in the application prior to this day, i was advised by colleagues to check my result and lo and behold i failed 2 courses in my second semester yr 5.

I have failed my parents, especially my mom who invested a lot in my schooling, i might not be able to go back to the school for the extra year, i don't even know how to tell my parents, or what to do next, if i had known i would never have attended the uni, rather would have learnt a skill or focused on freelancing but i guess its all too late now.

This is not something you should get all worked-up about... An extra year is just what it is. "extra year". It has nothing to do with your future.

I know of people who actually graduated, passed all their courses but couldn't get cleared for NYSC until after two years due to some complications... Still, they didn't kill themselves.
You were not expelled.
You were not dismissed.
You are not rendered medically unfit.

Come on, pick yourself up, tell your mum what happened. Go on to pass those papers next year, graduate and go on to succeed in life (You sound like someone with a very bright future).

One thing you should know is that there are tens of millions of Nigerian youths who will exchange their situations for your shoes now.

That's just a fact you shouldn't forget.

Am a fresh LAW graduate awaiting admission into the Law school, having gone through these years in d Law Faculty,i can say categorically that passing or failing a Law examination has little to do wit ur intelligence, many things happen within that short period in d exams hall and most times even the intelligent students tend to fall victims... Bro relax, life isn't a race and it is no respecter of who gets what first, I will advice u to forget whatever insult frm anyone and go back to rewrite those courses.. Have had seniors who came back to sit for certain courses and today they're doing pretty well as Legal Practitioners... There is more to life to think abt than to conclude that ure a failure over this...#If u fall, stand up; dust urself and give it another try!!!!!

discombobulated!

If you can come up with this grammar you can definitely go back to school and smash those courses.

You have one extra year, not bad. I had at least 2 to 3 extra years, and I've moved on from that. The whole world was against me. Friends and family left me, but God didn't leave me. He was all I needed and at the most trying time with no food to eat, no shoes to wear and no shelter over my head, He was the only partner and friend, and shield and shelter and warmth I had.

It'll will all be a story in a short while.

Cheers

he already had negative vibes for education and when a student hate a particular course/courses or have alternative mindset to success, they might lost concentration if their psychological trait is not wide

this Op doesn't have problem, is problem was his vibes, he need to tell it to himself that hey I'm at fault but I'll do the correction and not lamenting here

I won't advise him to pick himself, if he like he should, the end justify the means.

Just 1year and you are wailing? I left my former school after 3 years n now in year 5 with one more year to go in another school. This means I'll spend 9-10 years as an undergraduate. There are graduates in my class that started from scratch after Nysc. Put yourself in your mother's shoe, may be you'll do the needful.

Do u know what some of us went through before we finally graduated?
See this mumu o...
Only 2 courses, only 2 o... and you're here crying threatening you won't go back to write the them. Thunder faya u there.
Some of us had extra year that ran into another extra year+ ASUU strike, internal strike etc, still waited 2 years to be mobilized for NYSC but still stayed strong and got good jobs. 8 fvcking years on a 5 year course, but you're here whining over ordinary 2 courses. I no blame you, na people wey dey pet you I blame.

Make the mistake a cousin of mine made by not going to rewrite those papers then graduate and see what real shame is all about.

You think it's all about who first came out of university?

There is nothing God cannot do bro. Just pour out your heart to God, pray like you're talking to your friend because God is your friend and father. Believe for direction on the best steps to take and strength to take them. Trust me , 5-8 months from now you'll look back at this and laugh and thank God

I remember when the first post hit front page.

@Op have at the back of your mind that if you don't clear those 2 courses then you wasted 5 full years of your life.

Now which is better, wasting 5 or utilising half a year to clear the 2 papers?

It's clear you love your freelance stuff, but in all sincerity it shouldn't stop you from doing well in your academics.

Having a degree certificate, especially in law, can never be a disadvantage rather an advantage. The choice is yours to make, but majority of people advice you to finish what you started 5 years ago.

All the best.

Having an extra year is not the end of the race. Go and finish what you have started, then learn the skill you wish to acquire. You have a story to tell your kids. We all go through certain things so that our kids will have a better life from a well informed parent. Keep fighting for your kids. Gold passes through fire before it becomes pure.
