I am not a lecturer, but I think you got it wrong. The Nigerian university system is a creation of the law; same law vested the such powers as financial management, employment and staff etc to the various university councils. As such, the university is autonomous as regard administration, financial management etc but not funding. As regard the university funding, the government subsidies education through funding. It don't make meaning when you demand that the university be sel-fund to be autonomous. Yes, the university can easily achieve that, but by transferring the cost to the students, through school fees and Nigerians will still complain.

Thanks for pointing this out, I was just about to type something along those lines.

If school fees are increased so universities can be self funded, same students will cry foul.

The FG isn't being wholly truthful on the meeting that was held, they said something different and released a different thing on the media. I don't want to go into long details.

However, it's annoying that students, who are being fought for most of the time, are the ones always blaming ASUU. Most of the last strikes were 80% for infrastructure and improved quality in our institutions not for Staff salary but it seems the populace would rather believe the lies of the government.

Let ASUU be allowed to fight their due!

all they succeed in doing in the university is teach the age long Carl Marx theory, then return to hold the government to ransom.
I once challenge a lecturer of my to teaching us the 15th century theory as against the modern age problem. all he said was I should propound my own theory, bring it then they would teach it to solve problems.
lecturers, lawyers and medical doctors are no no no to me. that are too wisely foolish for my liken.
