The word 'feminist' is so commonly used these days that it's become a cliche. A lady I used to be friends with berated her dad for asking her to clear the dining table after he had eaten. This was under the pretext of feminism. I couldn't believe it. My elder sister had her masters in the USA and currently owns a reform institution. She's more exposed to feminism than these misguided lots, yet she cooks for her family and even her husband's when necessary, washes plates and dishes (although her husband helps out sometimes) and tries to please her husband always. I mean, I'm not sure she loves anyone as she loves him. So, these days, when I see girls or women sounding rude, arrogant and bitter in the name of feminism, I'm appalled. None of them contributed to the recent freedom Iran women now enjoy in stadiums. None of them talks of the sufferings in Syria or the girl-child plight in Nigeria. They just come online to spew trash. Nonsense and ingredients! PS: This became necessary due to the recent spate of crazy posts here |

Don't get involved in what doesn't concern you. |

Most women dont get the concept. They embrace it when its beneficial and ditch when they realize the responsibilities that come with self sufficiency. |

Olamsoh:Most feminist don't understand the concept and if you try talking sense they will say you are bullying or depriving them of their choices. So I washed my hands off speaking for feminism and decided to focus on threats to helpless females like female genital mutilation, oppression of widows, denying girl child education etc than following the conventional feminist movement of always playing victim, nagging etc... They need our help more than the online loud mouths.... When feminism comes to my mind, the first idea that sprouts up is "equality of both gender". But I got to learn that others have other definitions like "raising women rights". I don't condemn or judge any definition given to it as right or wrong but I feel I may be staining my hand with some sort of biasness or being subjective by following the definition "raising women rights" so I decided to operate under no banner or tag but rather speak up when I see any female or male oppressed for their gender As for the plate packing stuff, there is nothing wrong in any human packing plates. I always believe people should pack their own plates. I understand she may have felt it was delegated to her because she was the female. Was her dad in the habit of asking her alone to pack plates and ignoring her brothers? If she was asked to switch on the generator or fix a halogen bulb ,will she complain that she is being burdened with "male" chores? This are questions we should ask first.... Feminism doesn't stop you from being wifey or motherly,it only teaches you that you don't have to be complete only when you are wifey or a home maker. You can be pursuing a political ambition or career in any field without being pressured to be married or nursing kids and taking care of the house. It's normal to find some feminists as house wives, and others as spinsters pursuing a career, they are both awesome choices and neither is better than the other. PS: I rarely see gals identifying themselves as feminist spewing trash here, rather it's mostly males that spew hatred, bitterness and shades at the ladies |
