What a country. I hope there will be a better Nigeria sooner.
Lagbaja01:
25yrs +7yrs = 32yrs....that's never too late since 65% of Nigerian youths are yet to secure a good job at 32yrs after graduating at around 23-26yrs....... the summary of the matter is that you'll be better off many Nigerian youths 32yrs if you follow your passion.

Bro. I won't lie to you. Focus on ur business and grow it as if you are studying Medicine. Within the 6 years it will take you to acquire a MBBS certificate, you could have gathered enough money to build a hospital and employ doctors

The medical profession is one of those professions which should not be limited by age, especially given the chronic shortage of qualified doctors in this country.
As long as you're competent enough, I don't care if you're 25 or 55, just go for it.

Good afternoon my people.
I am currently 25years old and have A BSc. degree in physiology. I have passion for medicine an i wanted to re-apply, though the school that i want (is in my state) is partially accredited by MDCN, but they have final year student.

The reason i wanted to apply for the school is that i need to open a shop that i can be running my business and also.

Please I need your view considering my age? is it okay for me to start all over again from 100level or should i apply for DE in different state?

Thank you.

Someone offered u a wise counsel but you are asking why.

You don't sound like a prospective medical student to me. If you were competitive enough, you'd apply to a fully accredited medical school. You'd not also be talking about 'medical business'. A school has not been fully accredited and has not graduated students for 9 years, and that's still an option for u of all the medical schools in Nigeria.

In summary, my one Kobo advice for u is to go for medicine if you have a passion and calling for it, and not because of money. I also lend my voice to the one advising you to enroll in a fully accredited school only.

Apply, and stop worrying about your age.

That is all.

(I went to medical school with people who were older than your age when they applied.)

Whether you go to the school or not, you'll add up in age.. And at age 30, you'll wish you started the medicine thingy at age 25 and you'll regret it

It's never too late to start anything bro but it's better you run to a Sane country to start it, Poland and Ukraine are good for medicine

Go for it

You are from a well to do background. This fellow is not. In my direct experience, most med students express deep regret at the end for opting for 'prestige without remuneration'

[s] et me advice you as a medical doctor, there is nothing wrong with you aspiring to go for mbbs through DE considering you're just 25. In my school then at unn almost half of my class where DE candidates or those who have been in one department or the other and only about 30% of us were pure freshers from secondary school.

[b]here is the catch; never ever try to run business along with medicine, I mean never , it's stressful on its own and time consuming to study medicine let alone of combining it with business. Secondly never try to run the program in a partially accredited institution which is most likely going to be a state university. If you can abide by the two submissions above, as a physiology graduate you should be able to do your program and finish in time from a federal university [/s]

Exclusively my opinion and candid advice to you!
My dear, life is a mission. We all have different visions and targets. The climax of it is its fulfilment. Age doesn't matter. Provided you have something to drive, finance and sustain your life, do not care about how long it took you to fulfill your dreams. If you are looking at how long, you might not achieve it. Focus on how well and feasibility of achieving your dreams.
Some people equally achieve similar feat at 50s and 60s. Concentrate on how best. As for me I don't mind achieving such dream at 50s or 60s. It is how best that matters. And your best is what you give to the society. Your impact on the society is a bedrock of your assessment. Some people became medical doctors in their late tens and early twenties and spent their entire life without much impact. Nobody knew of their existence. Whereas some made it in sixties, impacted positively on the society and were celebrated and being remembered.
Above all, let your instinct guard you.

Go where ever your heart leads you to.
I will give you an instance with my Dad.
He always wanted aPh.DD. But couldn't achieve this feat. When he retired at 70, He started the program this year.
In your case, You already have a degree, even made an upper credit. Use that Money you raised to start up a shop and fund your postgraduate studies to Canada or the USA. Unemployment dey every career in Nigeria. Even for medical doctors!
Re: Should I Apply For Medicine Considering My Age? by Nobody: 10:17am On Nov 02, 2019
Age doesn't matter in the pursuit of knowledge. We've seen 70-year olds go back to school.

We've seen parents and children sitting in the same class.

If that's what you truly want, go for it.

But...weigh your options carefully. Can you run a shop and face the rigours of studying to become a doctor. Even students who don't run shops struggle with their MBBS exam.

@ 25, you are still very young to study medicine in school.

We went to school many years ago with a 39 year old man what was in 100 Level studying medicine.

He his doing very very well now as a full time medical Doctor.

Chase your dream.

If you can dream it, you can achieve it.

All the very best for the future.
