I like your strong passion and zeal even with dwindling revenues. Making long term investments does not remove realities. Business is not about emotions, but about figures and projections. I wonder what your projections for this business is. We've seen weekly remittances going steadily lower. As of this time last year, some were still remitting 40k and Uber keep crashing their price.

Anyway i know Nokia, Kodak, yahoo and co all denied the facts till they were swallowed. I like your passion sha and may you succeed big.

I dont recall drivers delivering 40k at the year u mention it was 35k that I recall and now is 30k. . And u said uber keep crashing their prices and am curious to know which prices they are still crashing.. Plus uber has added incentives ,that has been going on for the six months plus.. And also we had a guy that does it part time and he makes good money doing.. The guy gave a step by step how does uber on his way to his office..
Also I have a driver that drives for me now .. He has driving for me for the past 4 months now .. The driver before him did well and complain the job slavery etc. The new driver has been doing a great job. He does A lot offline trips and he delivers on time.. He seems he knows how to space himself.. We normally do inspection every two weeks on the cars.. But since the drivers are good and they know what they are doing . We no longer do the inspection .... The only time we know the condition of the cars is when it's at the mechanic for one or two repairs.. Than my mechanic gives us a feed back on the car.. So people that are making it ,they are making it .

To burst your bubble, I am not an uber driver. I drove my own car for just three months last year while waiting. It was more of past time. And it's such part time drivers that break even!

Not to burst your bubble too.. Just like in school back in those days.. Some students were good at things that certain students were not good at .. Even though it was the same thing they were all studying....

U stated that you drove for few months or so.. Since you are no longer driving. It will be hard for me to take your analysis objectively without fully analysing it fully .. Ur analysis is based on either what you are been told or hearing. My analysis is based on my weekly returns .. I can't recall the last time a driver was owing me.. But I do recall that have spend about 80k naira on my elantra. The driver kept going through bad roads and the excuse was because he did not want to reject any rider .. Since he pays nothing for repairs of the car, when I mean nothing I mean not a kobo ..I pay 100% of repairs on all my cars.. My mechanic ask my permission to speak to the driver.. My mechanic told him he can't be fixing the same issues all the time. And that he should stop driving to bad places. Even if it was a corolla the car will still have the same issues.. I spoke to the driver myself. After that no more issues again from the driver.. The driver knows that he can't get that type of my deal anywhere else.. And that 80k naira I spend on repairs, have made that money back ...

You stated that business is based on projection and not emotions . Which is very correct, I also take advice from people with experience.. People that have years of experince managing fleets of cars on the platform .. Not just someone that drove for few months and drove for himself with just 1 car.. By no means am I shading you or discrediting your three months of experience.. But am looking at things from a business angle . Would I take advice from somewhere with two years or somewhere with 10 years experience .. Like you said business should be based on projection and figures and not on emotions. My reply to you is based on unbiased objective analysis and experince you have .. And than I compare them to my experince....

In any business you have to say to yourself.. Am I for the long run or short run .. If you want to run a fleet of cars on uber .. This means you are going in for the long haul. It takes time and patience to learn a business.. Mistakes will be made and you will face challenges.. Companies like Apple ,Microsoft, Facebook, Global com, just to name a few.. Some of these companies have been around before me or you were born.. They didn't start making money right away. Many of them went through trial and error before finally making it big.. Each business has its ups and downs. Just because few owners are not making money ,does not means others are not..

Unfortunately Nigeria matter is we want to make money fast fast and easy ..that is why some are wasting their precious time focusing mainly on selling cars. Everybody is a car dealer in Nigeria now.. Nobody wants to do hard work or farm work..

Lol, are you now saying this cos you tried and failed woefully and ran away tail in-between legs?

If it were that easier than farm work as you insinuated, you would've made progress in car dealing by now and not the incessant rants and complaints against car dealers

Not a bad analysis although there’s more to be made.

If you target 15k daily for 6 days, you should have 90k gross.

Any driver that knows what he/she is doing should have no trouble making 15k daily.

How much fuel can achieve this using a corolla

Thanka

My brother with this your write up.. The conclusion is that this business is not for you or everybody .. A guy just posted how his neighbor or pastor was able to drive on uber.. Saved enough money to travel abroad to do his masters. And he was able to also pay for his part of his accommodation and master program.. Now I dont think the guy has two heads... this is want separate the poor and the rich.. The poor sees an obstacle and says this is not possible.. The rich sees an obstacle and says I will make it work.. Keep in mind in I have a female uber driver ,she has been driving for me for six months plus.. With the money she made she used to help herself and family.. And now she has move on to other things for now pending to tend to personal matters.... .. Successful people are not ordinary people in a sense . This are people that are willing to test the limit and go places that ordinary people or either too scare to go or don't have the heart to go.. This is why rich people barely give handout to others. They struggle for their money when others were busy saying the impossible .. My advice bro is to find another job or avenue to make money.. This uber thing is not working out well for you.. Uber is not by force.

Sir dru23, I always respect my elders, regardless of opinion, but here ehn.... I don’t know what to say sir.

I just stated a harmless fact about Bolt gross and eventualities (which is true by the way), and instead of you helping us with other means of achieving it , or telling where I get it wrong, you automatically concluded sir, that I am a “poor” oriented Uber driver. Wawu sir.

Well, I’m a realist, and not a motivational speaker sir, I will believe what is real , either it correlates with my ideology or not.

Also, I have another job, I am actually working with a tourism firm, and I must tell u, part time drivers are the best to see a balance or best reality about this job, a drowning man (full time driver) will clutch at a straw!

Lastly, my response to poor mind and rich mind, well sir, Through offline trips and dedication on ehail, I have some nice take home, but everything goes to me (cos I drive my car).

However, I’m putting myself in the shoe of a driver that makes a net of 40-50k a week , and has to deliver 30-35k.

My question is, is my observation stupid, or not realistic? I don’t think so.

Good morning sir

Tired of this popular crappy false saying, if uber was not made with rentals in mind, would they be linking up drivers and partners? Would they ask you if you're driving for yourself or the you have your own car during registration? Problem is that fares are low traffic and bad roads.

please i want to register my car for Uber in owerri , Imo capital city ... please what are the steps to take after one have signed up with them via their site ........

My brother you got me completely very wrong.. Or maybe I didnt express myself well enough.. Uber is not for everybody, and the stress that comes with it is a tough one. But still people are still doing ok ,the ones that are complaining that is it hard ,wilk still get up in the morning and hustle.. The ones at the fence are at the fence because they can't handle it . Am talking from experience and from what my drivers are doing.. What is the minimum wage in Nigeria now .. Uber drivers will make that in a week .. So there are ways to make money with uber. Nobody is going to hold your hands and show u the way.. We that are partners are the poor ones, some of us took out loans for these cars. Until we paid off the loans we still slaves to uber. It is not easy ,and just because it is not easy does not mean it is not possible.... If a female driver can deliver and.hustle her way .. I don't see any excuse for any man not to work ....nothing comes easy in life.. When I first started it was horrible nightmare for me. I had a wicked manager that made the job stressful for me. I had to sell all my cars and start all over again.. The mananger stole and wreck my cars with wrong oil .. If I didn't have the resources that I have now, I would have kill myself .. When I talk I talk from experience.. I will not encourage or discourage anyone to buy fleet of cars for uber.. It is a personal determination and will to do what I do .. But just because most can't do it does not mean it can't be done.. Sorry if I offended you in any way shape or form ....

I find ways to use my time effectively to maximize profit.. Me and u know car business get has it be.. Am thinking for the future and also outside the box.. But I don't knock your hustle, sell your cars or however longs it takes you to sell .. I rather have weekly cash flow

The only thing that can make me drive empty to the island is if my client need me at a particular time and destination trip is not helping, d way I'll b frowning inside the car self, for me working is not by force, if trips r not coming, sleep will obviously come or I use my head to figure out other things. I can't guaranty any price as work may melt someone sometimes, but positioning and not going to all trip still remain d main tin, outside that where u set out from for the day is also important. Most times I start work from surulere have always been a drag. But if I find myself around ogba or Berger ard 7am... I'll gently drive down to omole estate and isolate from drivers, I don't set destination or bother to cancel short trips going to magodo 1 or 2, ogba or ikeja, I take dem as deh come, as long as its not 10 30 yet, your chances of getting long trip is still cool... Most times I can do short trips from omole to magodo, magodo to opebi, opebi to alausa, just within the axis I'll make 5k, from dia maybe ard 12 noon get a trip to V.I that 7k5 from V.I/ikoyi lekki may pop in, if it gets to chevron that around 2k (9k5) and if u find a trip back or further to sangotedo, ur money keep increasing, but once I find myself back to phase one and my dash is displaying 12/13k ard 5/6pm... I'll gentle set destination trip back to ogba and gently go through d back door to Awolowo rd, if I'm not getting a trip worth 2k I'm not leaving dia, most time u get surge ard that time. You can consider a trip to yaba and drive to unilag (Sure zone).

Cc: perkins
To some that live on the Island, It often feels like a curse getting a trip to the mainland. You can't wait there forever. I drive back empty 90% of the time. The days I get a trip back are always good days though. My profit margin surges, happens once in a month or thereabout.

This one here is a big lie, 100% . The margin on 20 cars will cover your Uber "fleet" net earning for 1 year bro.

Your 5 "fleet" on Uber should give you 3,750,000 for the whole year at 30k per week ( 30*5*52). But we know it doesn't, cause of basic repairs like oil change, etc, and this will take a minimum of 30% off your earning for the year. This is a conservative estimate.

On the other hand, 3,750,000 for 20 cars is a margin of 187,00 per car. We all know the average margin on imported cars.

Me I have closed since 5:30pm local man is watching Chelsea match. Tomorrow is another day.

I would want anybody or someone to dispute this fact, aside from SAKA and OFFLINE trips it is difficult to get 15k.
as someone said earlier on ,I think luck also plays a part ... Yesterday I grossed 13k as at 5pm and I left home 7am , some days 5k for the whole day .

Strategy also plays a role ... 80%of the trips took me to vi ,blew empty back to lere which was 20min (no traffic) less than 5mins in lere I always get a hit .

I must be only one selling cars I guess.. My brother you forget am not based in Naija.. Am based in the USA.. So let break it down to you... when buying a car ,I have factor in my opportunity cost.. I have a regular job ,now do I now leave my job and start to chase cars all over the place? Would it be worth it .. Do u know the times it takes to search for a car ? Arrange a tow truck to tow the car to the port.. Do u think it is easy like that .... And the time it takes to do all the logistics. When u now compare the time u put in vs the profit margin.. Compare my living expenses and standard of living.. Would be worth it ? Lol smh.. The profit of 100k might mean a lot to you guys ,but for us na waste of time .. Even ship 50 cars a month or more. It will mean I will have to leave my job.. We all know it takes time to sell those cars. So money is tied down for months. Keep in mind am not the only person selling cars in Lagos.. I can go and on ,but only if you knew what it takes my brother.. Meself am lucky ,the port is very close to my house . Its about 20 minutes away .. What about other people that are hours away from the port.. Or do u think u just call a tow truck and he will be ready rite away.. You are basically on their time table.. Whenever they are the attend to you , you not the only that needs their cars to be drop off at the port..

My brother lol.. Only if you know what I know smh... Time is money and money is time ...you can always make money and get money.. But you can never buy time.. So use your time wisely ..for those that are in the car business I don't knock your hustle.. But for me I like cash flow and I will continue increasing my fleet.. I can't even keep up with demand from drivers looking for cars now self ...... Either way God bless our hustle and let's challenge ourselves to think outside the box ....

Out of 20k people looking for jobs.. At least you can find 5k that are serious.. Same goes for drivers ,not all drivers are lazy .. If you are patient enough you will find the ones that are ready to work ....

Radauto for example do you know how many people
she has to hire and sack.. Her been a proffossional she has to carefully select the ones that are willing to work and fit her mode of operation Am sure out of 5k applicant ,she will hire less than 1k. Just to give an example . My point is the job that you can't do or u think is hard.. Someone out there can do it better than you.. It take skills to hire the rite people .. Nigerians to me are not ready to work . They want easy money, they want to be the boss.. But in the mist of the craziness and laziness.. You will find some that know the job and are willing to work ...

Ps.. I recall back in school, when we trying to solve a math problem.. The same math problem that everyone is taking hours to solve..somebody solves in 10 minutes.. Just like the same way uber driver can't meet up. Others are meeting up .. They find ways to think and look for solutions.. It's all about mindset and using the brain...
