That movie is not worth an Oscar in the first place! Totally over hyped. Phyno was just doing like mumu. Genevieve was in my face from the beginning to the end.. Na she be Producer, Director and lead actor. Haba! Honestly, when I first saw Osuofia, I thought; mehn! I'm about to have a good laugh. I was so dissapointed.. I have deleted it sef.
A total waste of time.
Too disappointing.

It's a mental thing. Because you are born into a country that adopted their system, in government or politics, economy, education, etc. Or does Nigeria have any home-grown system in place? Even culture itself, Nigerians are losing that.

A little observation, rudeboy did not feature in the movie. However, his brother Peter Okoye AKA Mr. P did feature.

Eh! See this one. Yoruba movies existed before anyone even dreamt of Nollywood. How old are you. I watched a Yoruba movies twice at cinema houses in the early 80s. An Ogunde movie at the National Theater and Adelove movie (with Papiluwe as main character) at the Glover Memorial Hall on Lagos Island. It used to be on a road off-Marina Street back in the days. Those were original Yoruba movies with great storylines with great quality than what we have now. Do you even know Ogunde, Adelove? Or is it Feyikogbon series we used to watch every Sunday.

There was also a very popular cinema house on Broad Street back then, not far from Shell building. I think it was called Sheila Cinema. I remember watching a Chinese movie there with an uncle.

Point is there used to be a Cinema culture back in the days especially in Lagos and Yoruba movies were part of the attractions. Those movie houses simply disappeared one after another.

For any film shoot outside the US that is in English language is automatically disqualified from the Oscars.

So , let them go hug transformer.

Funny how people don't understand that when the word 'International' is used, its meant to mean anything other than the language of the domiciled country of an organization or anything presenting same.

The movie academy is a US-based body which hitherto had been awarding movies produced in the US (Hollywood), it was only to broaden its scope it decided to include movies produced elsewhere (International) by setting up a category called 'Best Foreign Movie which it changed to International.

The rules still remained the same, movie must not be predominantly written in English language which if done, would be akin to creating a category to directly compete with Hollywood movies which is not what the case is meant to be.
Good punchlines you got there. You must be well versed in this field.

There's nothing like Yorubawood. Yoruba movies are the original Nollywood! Simple.

You Igbos are too ashamed of your culture and language. At least 85% of Igbos bear English names cuz they're too ashamed of their Igbo names and the ones with Igbo names would convert it to English... you go dey hear Peace, Happiness, Joy, Victory, Laughter, Smile grin

A Yoruba would rather bear Segun than Victory which is the English translation.

Btw... how many Igbo movies are out there? Nobody would watch that nasty thing even their own Igbos. Just imagine! cool

You and them see things the same..... say one thing but mean another. Why can't you say what you mean? Best Foreign Language Film.... that is specific.... means the film must be in a language other than the host language...English. How can you now rename it International and say international means foreign language?
Whatever the case...I'm glad the film was disqualified... a blessing in disguise. First impression always count and personally....Lionheart is not a good movie let alone to be the first to represent Nigeria in an international competition. Nollywood has produced wayyyy better movies and has the ability to do better than Lionheart. In fact... I have never seen Genevieve in a movie as bad as Lionheart... this is the worse.

It is completely unfortunate that dumbass Africans have not realized that liberal wings in USA and EU societies do not have soft and appreciative feelings for Africans. From their idiotic Oscar to moronic Nobel Prize are geared towards creating wedges among sentimentally drunk Africans who often laugh at their own idiocy . Sometimes these jackasses from USA and EU include Africans in their frictional stupidity for mere mockery or in continuation of their colonial benevolence. These conniving liberal wings in USA and EU societies will never accept any hardworking or freethinking African who is able and willing to oppose their idiotic political and social shenanigans. They only seemed to appreciate Africans whom they can turn into lap dogs.

I had posted my opinion on another thread. These people need to pull their heads outta their buttcracks.
Sometimes ago, I wanted to enter to a photography competition, a portrait challenge to be precise. The competition is an online thing and according to the ad, was calling on all photographers from all over the world. I had taken time to look for a model and did my shoot and everything. I was about to post and I decided to read the T&C, especially to know how and where to post my images. One of the conditions stated that, one must be resident in the US. I was furious and felt defeated, but then, it is what it is. Plus, it would be stupid to send my images since I would eventually be disqualified.

So, these pseudo-celebrities and wannabees should shut their traps already. It's getting more stupid.

The movie should not have been there in the first place . Total bullshit, I couldn’t make a point of anything, it was sooooooooooooooo boriiiiiing I almost shed tears of joy when it ended.

I didn’t smile or open my teeth from beginning till the end . undecided

Lionheart should be banned for wrecking our brains with boredom. No story line , no humor , no fun, no joy. It was just business talk and gibberish angry

I deleted it off my phone and I only saw it once . I didn’t want to paralyze my brain if I should see it twice . cheesy

There's no big deal about this movie to be honest. I've seen better.

I started watching it, but haven't found the time to finish it.

It got to where it got to because of who was in charge of it. The surprise would have been if the movie actually won any prize. The whites mostly don't allow sentiments becloud their sense of reasoning in matters like these.

These celebrities are just whinning because it's Genevieve's.
The movie is one of the best produced Nigerian movie but the entertainment value is not there. But awards like the Oscars are not looking for entertainment value. They're looking for a good story and depth. I also found it boring btw just like a lot of other oscar award winning movies.

Now i know why we don't have sensible people on Nairaland. My God! I can't believe all the trash I 've been reading here. Don't know if I should call it envy or ignorance..even some fools that can't produce a video skit of 30 seconds are talking rubbish too. 'Lion Heart' movie still remains one of the best African Movies I have seen in my life. You can kiss the nearest transformer if you don't agree with me. The only movie that was chosen out of many that was submitted in Nigeria. Oscar rated everything about the movie very okay. They specifically said it was disqualified because it is mostly in English language and should be mostly in the Native/Local language. You people should have sense oo!
