The ones living in Nigeria themselves uses Nigerians as slaves in their own country in the full glare of our leaders who looks the other way. What of the Asians here too. I remember pa Idi Amin when he drove them from Uganda and Ghana too drove them and Nigeria was there their to give them safe haven only to come and took Nigerian poor for slaves with the help of elites. I still remember a copier company MD in VI who was calling someone in India to relocate to Nigeria because labour was very cheap and is still ridiculously cheap, you can imagine the insult.

When it comes to slavery, Arabs are the worst. From time in memoriam actually. Ever since the days of the Quran, the Arab muslim had always had slaves.

What two of you are doing is called "whataboutism". Instead of facing the issue of the never-ending arab muslim slavery, you are here talking about Nigerian house girls.

The difference remains that at least, in Nigeria we are actively fighting the harsh and inhumane treatment of house girls and maids.

Is Nigeria not still slave to the British? For as long as Nigeria is still paying loyalties to Britain, Nigeria remains slave while the poor ones are the ones suffering the effect.

Why are africans and Nigerians complaining about Arabs slave trade here while in fact, if you visit average middle class Nigerian homes who have maids, the maids even speak the same language as them, are treated as slaves. In another word, Nigerians equally enslaved low income Nigerians. Stop worrying about Arabs. Those who involved in slavery amongst them will face their consequences alone.

Besides, physical slavery is still better than intellectual slavery bcuz someone who is physically enslaved will free himself or herself for as long as they get sound mind. But look at White people, in this case France; which still charges colonial tax from it's former colonies. France syphons over $5 billion every year from Africa as part of agreement signed in order for them to end physical slavery. On top of that, part of the agreement is that French military can invade these african countries without notice if it's interest is threatened. Yet, africans do nothing about this ongoing or continuous systematic slavery.

This is sad. While I do not want to be aligned along religious lines, I have met and seen Muslims here in Nigeria who don't see anything wrong with enslaving women as well as sexual attraction to young and underage girls.

You will have to understand that these ideologies are enshrined in the Koran and these guys are just practicing what their Koran says (though there are quite a handful of "liberals" who do not wholeheartedly follow these laid down tenets in the Koran)

You are very very very VERY wrong. Arabs were and are still the worst slave owners. They castrated their slaves, treatment was inhuman... it was terrible! Maybe your referring to Tom and Jerry history books.

First of all, being an Arab does not mean youre a Muslim and been a Muslim does not mean you're an Arab Islam and Arab are two different ideologies. Even the Quran commented about the Arabs Quran 9 verse 97. One of the problem we face is we understand Islam with what a non Muslim has to say but not what the religion says on it. Islam is never in support of slavery
