Unfortunately, generalisations and stereotypes are very much needed even in business. Sometimes, you've got very little time to make a decision and you have to follow some beliefs you hold which are usually stemming from past experience, these are stereotypes and generalisations. You've got to do this a lot because you can't go on having a thorough check for every decision you need to make.
Saying it's a dumb conclusion doesn't make you appear more intelligent

A reckless businesswoman hired a boy who is not qualified according to the industry regulations.
Then, she got burnt in the process and decide to attack the "poor".

It isn't the poor who run down several banks in the Sanusi era, it is not the poor that accept contracts
and refuse to execute them. It isn't the poor that connive with suppliers to defraud their company.
It is unfortunate that I need to point this out in the first place.

If you took just a minute to think unlike this lady, you would realize that all her current employees
are most likely poor and they couldn't give her a similar problem because she probably followed the rule
while hiring them.

Apparently, neither she nor you got the real lesson from this experience.
She shouldn't have burdened the business with unnecessary risks.
She shouldn't treat a business like a charity and lastly, she should have accepted
responsibility for her failure as a manager instead of looking for the poor to blame.

In case you still think this is a problem of the poor, let her fire all her terrible poor workers and hire the rich.
Let us see how successful her eatery will become with the saintly and loyal rich staff.
Oh, the rich won't accept her slave-level wage, to begin with.

Anybody who can't connect basic dots has no business running a business.

She has a point.

I have three friends who always support me in all I do. Not financially though, but they are happy to see you grow. And these three friends are doing well in their career and are all professionals. But the ones as poor as myself don't want to see me grow. They are full of hate and envy. May God help us all. Amen.

Oga, wait until those successful professionals see you passing them. Then you will know what it really happening. Until they say you are "feeling too big" you won't know.

She is not right, every one is poor one way or the other. What u just read is a single story. The problem with single story is that it create stereotype i.e blanket judgement on issue. Some people are poor and depraved while some are poor and still kind.the same goes for the rich. Desist from commenting on issues beyond ur reasoning
Don't mind those idiots who didn't bother thinking before agreeing with the myopic woman.
She made a mistake and decided to blame the "poor" for it.

The funny part is that, that's my former house, I used to give the security guy money alot and the segun guy was very quiet never disturbed anyone , the security guy is an evil guy. Because that guy was always nice to him. Even the landlady is a crazy woman, the Alhaja at Jabson court. I'm glad I left that house.

She's right to a large extent. One has to be careful with poor people. Who remembers the former VC of FUTA who was killed by his gateman and driver to steal his car? I also read of a Covenant University graduate that was killed by his gateman few days ago.

Black people have a problem with envy and not just poor people

why else are people rejoicing the downfall of Mompha and other Yahoo Boys if not for deep hate for rich people

The scammed white people aint even wishing evil on them infact some of their victims still love them, but Naija people curse and wish death on them

White see prison as a form of rehabilitation black man want prison to be a gallow of no return with pain and agony

Are people still this stupid? What kind of self hating comment is this? Let me guess you are well travelled?

This is totally true.
Imagine, yesterday a Zenith Bank driver ( he showed me his ID) was using the company car in his care for driving lessons without a learners sign. The learner bashed my car bending the front shaft, breaking the full light and seriously damaging my front bumper. I asked for his 3rd party insurance and the guy said the car has none (maybe had been doing fake insurance)
The damage will cost me 45k! After begging for a few minutes the guy calmly told me "oga, but you look like you can afford to fix the car now. Just take me as your brother." Then he started calling his entire household to come beg me.

I honestly just got tired and decided to go fix the car. The evil & sense of entitlement in Nigeria is baffling.
whoa! that's a crazy story you have there

3 months, paying for his hospital bills and paying salary too. While he wasn't really working. I couldn't allow him to work till he had completed his treatment. So I just housed, fed and paid hospital bills plus salary for 3 months
What part of that did you miss?
To confirm with standards, she even paid his hospital bills, on seeing that standards have not been met(he still had hepatitis), she fired him. Now tell me how it's still her fault.
First you accused her of stereotypes, now you accuse her of flouting standards. What else will you accuse her of seeing she isn't guilty of these accusations you're leveling against her

She is guilty of everything!

I didn't accuse her of stereotyping, everybody including you agreed that her post was about stereotype.
You even defended the act by arguing it is necessary.

The fact that you keep bringing up her samaritan side shows that you haven't grasped the essence
of running a business. You don't run a business on emotion or blame game.

No sound businessperson will pay a higher wage and take bigger risks for a service they can get cheaper
with no risks.
The boy isn't some super skilled one in a million coder that every company is seeking
He is an unskilled applicant at best.
Why the hell did he get special benefits?

This woman is a very poor manager.
Worse still, she is still blind to her mistakes, didn't know what she did wrong,
can't accept responsibility and prefers to blame "poor" people for her poor choices.

If she managed my business, she would be fired for incompetence and irresponsibility.

Some people are actually good and some people are just plain evil.

Generalization is terrible.

How do you have the time to differentiate when your life could be at risk?? I would generalize over and over again without remorse because it is better to err on the side of caution.

Nigerians are a terrible lot! God on their lips, evil in their heart.

See generalization, I'm poor in cash but I'm rich at heart. And that's more reason I don't beg rich people for anything. They always think they are always right and can do no wrong, the guy did bad,but her generalization is even worse and can discourage potential helpers.
She thinks she will never ever needs help, she even called someone POOR

You read through the whole brouhaha and how she came to such an illogical conclusion! What she failed to apprehend is that wickedness is not a Nigerian phenomenon, but a global thing. The Bible says that the heart of a man is wicked. It didn't say the heart of Nigerians are wicked. When you go to the civilized world, you'll realize that the crime perpetrated there, is of first-degree. We dey learn work from them. SA too, is above Nigeria as regards crime eg rape, murder, gun violence! How do you do, Soilsista?

There's no lie in this very ungrateful lot, After you'll hear things like that oga stingy sha! After giving you money for your child's leukemia treatment and asking you to pay back only half of the money, Or giving you money for your child's Naming ceremony? They don't wanna work, only Get paid like I'm running a charity That's why interaction with them must be limited.

Bad market for the less privileged.

Although Sentimentally, her argument holds water, yet
it is fallacious to generalize.

Believe her or not, poor people are very dangerous.

Jobless, idle or unemployed.

Stealing is their game. Cutting corners and laughing at their helpers is deemed as smartness.

she is 90% right.imagine a case you are very rich and alot of poor folks around you. These poor folks become envious and wish you can become like them. They even gang up to bring you down or kill you.a country in which there are few rich people with a lot of people in poverty is a dangerous country.much of the crime we have is because people are poor.if you are the only rich person in a family, even your own family wil be jealous .it happened to Joseph in the bible .my advice is to excercise caution when dealing with the less privilege people ( poor)

I disagree with that mentality towards the poor

I have associated with the poor, average and rich class of people.

With the poor or average class people, to live and associate safe with them, without them feeling envious or trying to steal or destroy to take what u have , just DONT BRAG ABOUT YOUR MONEY, WOMEN OR ACHIEVEMENTS.

Don't brag about your life to their faces. If they ask u any personal question? Be brief about it and stylishly inreturn ask them about their own life.

Don't promise what u cannot give. Little change Or gifts here and there sometimes keep smiles on their faces and remove evil thougts of harming you.

Don't bring them to your home, if you know u set up your home to the teeth with exotic gadgets and all. Always meet up either at workplace or public place. Be humble be respectful with smiles . Help them with stuffs if u have, but don't be too familiar with them. Behave sympathetic when they are talking about their struggles in life and pray for them before u take your leave, after advising them on what they should or should have done. Their heart will soften towards u, no matter how rich u look or behave.

That's a way of making people not resent you, if u seem to have more than enough.

If they don't see how much u are enjoying at home, or know how much u take home? They won't plan against you. What the eyes does not see? The heart doesn't grieve over.

Just be kind , sympathetic with words and facial expressions then ,respectful and don't forget to say, Eeyah the Lord is your strength. God will lift u up when u least expect and remember God has not forsaken you. Keep praying God is on your case in Jesus name Amen. Say the short prayer with them when they talk about how hard life is. And u will see the joy and smile in their faces, as they look into your eyes to know if u are faking it or being real.
If your look is sincere they won't plan evil against u.

But if the expression in your eyes is fake? Then u are in deep shiiit! cheesy

It's simple for me anyways.

I know how to handle people from different class.

The day I heard what my boss' supposedly right hand man was saying about him ehn. I shock. You could see the envy and disgust all over him.
