The purpose of my initial visa application(insert date) was to visit my sister and colleagues which I did and returned to Nigeria(insert date). Ten months after my visa was issued my clinical rotations commenced (inserts date) and since I already had a B1/B2 visa that was required for rotations, I travelled to commence my rotations. The officer on duty on my last application interview which was denied on (inserts date) believed I started my rotations on my first visit, however I have all documentation showing my itinerary and when my clinical rotations commenced.

Not bad at all... I think this is enough for them to double check.

The US embassy can choose any way to scrutinize applicants they want into their Country.

Every Country have different Immigration laws to go by...and that's for a reason they alone understand.

The UK also with their so-called ways of scrutinizing applicant also have hundreds of genuine applicants who were granted the UK visa and after getting to the UK still went on to abuse their legal presence in the UK.

No Country will be able to completely eliminate visas abusers. They can only try as much tactics they know to reduce it.

Even some applicants with the best and genuine documents and convincing strong ties still end up abusing their legal presence abroad if they feel the need to.

I am of the opinion that your explanation here is not compatible with what you described earlier. My understanding is that the VO denied your visa out of concern that you had abused the terms of your visa issuance. Regardless of whether you started your rotation *after* your first visit is only a moot point. The point here is that you ended up using your visa for clinical rotations (at some point.) Your focus should be convincing the next VO that you did not misrepresent the reason for your first visa application; there was simply no reason to reapply for another B1/B2 visa after you returned and later enrolled into clinical rotation since you had a valid visa.

I just read the last paragraph of that yellow form given to me. I was too nervous to read until I saw this comfort response .
Once again thank u and I will reapply. I haven't break the news to my baby angel yet. She is doing very well as a first class student. I don't want this news to give her setback in her last semester grade.

That’s quite unfortunate. Definitely reapply ASAP. If he claims you overstayed on your last visit for 2 months, it is highly likely he used that reason as a pretext for denial. Now arm yourself by getting a copy of your I-94 online — your entire travel history:

Make sure you print out the page that has all your arrival and departure dates. If there’s an error with the information there (like your departure date from the U.S), seek redress by following the instructions on CBP’s website. All the best and let us know how your next interview goes.


P.S: There is no such thing as visa renewal. It’s a misnomer.

This is my observation when I go through the i94 link. I think the v.o. just look at the month but didn't check the day very well. I arrived in July 30th I departed on Sept 2nd. He just look at July to Sept and concluded it's 2month. Whereas It's just 33days. (End of July to begining of sept) The 3days extra was when all airport was closed and my airline cancelled my flight because of the flood disaster.

What you said about the UK is correct, a neighbor of mine in lagos (a member of our homeowners association) , married with 4kids, who has worked for more than 15 years with LASG, obtained UK visit visa around May last year, I have the copy of his visa as l type because he sent it to me in celebration and told me that he is not coming back to Nigeria again, to cut my story short, the visa was for 6months but he is still in the UK sorting out how to get iyawo, wether UK, US and other western nations, people will still cut corners and genuine applicants will continue to pay for the sins of others. QED.

Technically speaking, overstaying a tourist visa for more that 180 days in the US is grounds for deportation and inside the Schengen area is not permitted. While it is never good to overstay a visa, generally you won’t run into problems until you leave and try to reenter that particular country.
If she have a concrete reason o. Why she stayed for 5month no problem, but it advisable for her not to use 5month on tourist visa because of her nationality passport she maybe denied.

Hmmmm, with the current trend in the US embassies in Nigeria , staying 90 days or 5months on a visit visa is not advisable,

Moreover , during interview, you are asked how long will you be visiting, and the applicants will say 10 or 15 days and it is documented on your file, now the applicant Flys to the US and stay for 150 days, when you come back for renewal, it is like a carmel passing through the eyes of a needle for you to qualify for another visa.

It is better to stick to all you said when you obtained the visa originally , Lastly, what people did few years ago and got away with it is highly frowned at now and in most cases leads to refusal / denial ,

You are exposing yourself.
There is no need to publish sensitive information that includes your passport number.

Below is my i94 details

When filling your form, in the part that asks for reason for denial, state it clearly that VO asked why you stayed for two months, whereby you stayed for 33 days and only because of the flood. Also state that you wrote in your form then that you would stay for a month and exceeded it by 3 days only because of the flood. Also, pls modify your last post and remove the picture that shows your passport number. All the best Ma'am

I have been to USA four times

1st I accompanied my daughter to school I spent only 1week

2nd visit is when my daughter transfer from one university to another. I was there to visit her at the University. Stay for 2week

3rd time I went for her graduation. Stay for 3weeks

4th time I accompanied my second daughter to different school I spent 1month which I indicated when applying.
I spent extra 5days due to flood in Houston because all flight was cancell as all airport were closed because of flood . I don't think this is my fault. It is a natural disasters that no one can control.

All these visit was on different two years visa. i always use all my 2years visa once.

My last visit was 2017
My daughter graduation is next year may. I apply now because my Visa as expired since last year December. So I don't want it to overdue for renewal.

I don't know how my daughter will feel if she heard I won't attend her graduation. She is my last baby. I am 55. This is a very sad day for me. Graduation is a glorious day for any parent.

He lied that I stayed for 2month last time. I told him I never stay for 2month. I never did.

What is their problem. Please can I get any help. It will be an evaladting sorrow for me for not attending my daughter graduation while I am still alive. She is the last baby. I attended others.

I was long time ago denied B1/B2 visa application on the ground that I don't have enough home ties in my country of residence. I have since then build my home by acquiring some plots of land. I intend to apply again by next year.

Please my question is how do i prove during my interview that I have enough home tie since they don't normally as for prove of home ties nor documents. I have good travel history and can boast of a reasonable balance in my bank account.I will be glad if my question is given some attention. Is there also a way to prove my home ties in my application form.

Vo: ignored. Pass your passport. Where are you going to?
Me: **** conference

Me: No.
Vo: Sorry you are not eligible. Handing over my passport and blue paper

My interview was approximately 4 seconds. It was like a shock as I felt like an infidel the way she asked me to leave, her treatment was so bad as if I was an outcast. She never looked at me. At least she should have allowed me to talk. Meanwhile she denied everyone she interviewed before me.

But I give God all the Glory at least I have experienced it.

Same thing happened to a friend yesterday in Lagos the interview was within few seconds.
They have so much disregard towards visa applicants.

I doubt if this is going to make much of a difference to you or your situation, but it is what I would do if i was in this position. I would send a complaint letter to the embassy and to Department of Home Security in the USA about the uncanny /unprofessional attitude of this lady. They are providing a service that should be done in a professional/ respectful way regardless if visa will be granted or not.

They cannot and should not intimidate anyone simply because they believe they have an advantage. If you can remember any useful info, make a complaint about the unprofessional service you received - maybe some other people would do the same and will prompt an investigation. They have CCTV with voice recorder in all the cubicles. You never know!

This is the worst have seen so far. We buy a form just to be treated like rags. They should just indicate it that if you haven't travel before you shouldn't bother paying the visa fee. I'm really angry right now, mine is coming up soon and i have lost all the confidence i have manage to build for long with my virgin passport and no home ties.

I feel your pain and that of the lady you quoted, even if you write to Donald Olusegun Ibrahim Eze Trump, your letter might not hold water, visa issuance by all embassies is a privilege and not a right, any country including Nigeria can choose to issue or refuse visa to anyone, issuance or refusal is at the discretion of the issuing country / VO and it is not a right that you can contest via protest letter / the judiciary, it is sometimes painful but that is what it is

You are so right.

Even the Nigerian Embassies or passport office, don't you see how disrespectful some of them act in there.

With all the complaints about them nothing has changed.

The lady has a pointed nose like this abi? Zero joy madam! She doesn't give visa to anyone! She denied my mom for a very flimsy reason!
