Why is Auto section looking so boring frustrating. Sellers are busy bloating their thread by themselves without making sales on their advertised merchandise months unend yet remain obstinate with their obnoxious price tags.
Worse even, most of the cars on sale here don't even have geniune custom papers to justify their price tags.
This one must be one dead section. embarassed

The pictures are interesting to look at but the life of the section is long dead. Seems people deliberately stay away from here, hence only the sellers are active and lonely cheesy

The ones who killed this section knows themselves.
The cosplay and the likes. And now they are nowhere to be found. But we tried warning them then. They went overboard. As much as u want to
protect buyers from buying dead cars u should also sensitize them on the importance of Inspection.

I disagree with the poster above, I thought cosplay made it even fun, I always like to see his post, amazes me. if a vehicle is properly described you won't have a problem with cosplay, so many sellers claim clean title when that's not the case or advertise severely injured vehicles with blown out airbags, roll back mileage which I find unnecessary, cosplay is doing buyers a lot of good, I just thought it's fair to make buyer know what he/she is buying, a casket or a car. Salvage title doesn't mean you won't sell, some salvage title cars are better than some so called clean title. Another person talked about price, the thing is in as much as cheap cars go fast, Nigerians want something close to free, they expect full duty paid, clean title non accident for an unrealistic price. An importer wouldn't want to sell below cost of import, so you see those very cheap cars, there is another story to it.
Deals are still being sealed on here.

@Op, you have liked. @Cosplay is the best thing to have happened to this section.

It's either you are a seller who sells badly damaged salvage cars as clean titles or you have been fortunate not to buy one.

For me, I don't think this section is totally boring.

Agents are so much now....same car posted by 6 different handle with different ridiculous prices. Who now owns the ride? Worst still when you call for inspection, they will tell you to meet their brother, he is coming soon- for where! You wont see him again.
I have been trying to buy a ride since....either na gasket or over priced...I know the car price for a Nigerian used of it but come see prices naa

In 2019 & beyond, woes betide any car dealer in Nigeria that imports accidented vehicles that he or she cannot drive let alone give to any of his/her family members or loved ones to drive on the highway at 120km/hr.

Same applies to those forging customs papers, selling at a price to rip people off their hard-earned money. Selling a vehicle brought in for a profit that is more than 30% is not left out.

Marketers & promoters should be given say not more than 2% commission which could be added to the cost for buyer.

N.B: You can ignore this at your own peril! !!

This was the golden rule I posted here early this year; only if they can follow it that things will change. https://www.nairaland.com/4937889/all-car-dealers

More importantly, they should always showcase VIN of every vehicle they list because we know and have seen lot of car dealers in here packaging badly accidented and lemon vehicles as clean, non accidented and even clean title.

As a matter of fact, I just created this thread "How And Where To Get VIN Report For Free In Less Than 5 Minutes All By Yourself" https://www.nairaland.com/5529840/how-where-get-vin-report

How did cosplay kill this section?

Because he didn't allow unscrupulous elements like to be selling dead cars to unsuspecting people?

if I understand correctly, Cosplay played a big role in calling out fraudulent car dealers who will otherwise send unsuspecting buyers to their early grave. In as much as everyone is trying to make a living from their hustle, there's no justification for a dealer or owner-seller to falsify the status of the car they intend to sell to the potential buyer and upon that they charge ridiculous prices.
Me thinks the dealers killed the section with their greed. Even if they are making sales, it can only be once in a blue moon and definitely not to buyers from Nairaland.
Used cars dealers are supposed to have more stock turnover than their new cars counterparts because of the affordability but unfortunately the reverse is this case in this country. Go to any car stand anywhere in Lagos, you will see hundreds if not thousands of vehicles that have parked there for months, some even years, no sales and dealers cannot even think outside the box on how to make a return on their investments beyond the usual of selling scraps for fortunes to uninformed buyers.
I have a car stand in front of my estate in Ajah area of Lagos where cars have been parked for more than 4 years now that they are all becoming rotten and someone will tell me that the dealers have sense undecided undecided undecided undecided sorry Auto section. embarassed embarassed embarassed

This one is a curse with supernatural undertone grin grin grin grin No wonder so many dealers have lost goodwill. Nothing good comes from fraudulent business ethics.

I agree with you that deals are still being sealed but at a lower percentage compared to what it was before and only for those dealers who still has a little pedigree. The onus of the matter is that so many dealers and owner-sellers hide the true status of the car to potential buyers or at best, tell half-truths. That is bad cool cool

this is another angle to the problem bedeviling the section. It even affects the owner of the car more cos it will take a while longer before they can make sales and they are at the mercy of the agents.

Lol!

Greed
Pride
Insincerity
Loss of conscience
Betrayal of trust
Zero customer service etc
have become the order of their days and norms.

Have you forgotten a known car dealer in here who wanted to make over 2M on a lemon(a car with unrebuildable and junk titles that cannot be driven on any road in USA)? Car that its transmission was found to be repaired in abroad and also repaired in Nigeria instead of replacing it at least. Its doors that accident affected which were to be replaced were only panel-beated and then poorly sprayed from evidence of rust still seen on the doors.

Forging of and sharp practices on custom duty have also been order of their days.

All that going on in here without being checked and stopped but are being supported/celebrated/praised and we expect this section to stand the test of time?

You are pained by the revelations(it is not bitterness) you hypocrite. You are not even the car dealer but it is very obvious, you are doing what he does and as well one of those that were supporting his dubious ways.

The curses you called on are already following you and your household if you don't know.
