hosey: They should not take advise from people who are already settled in the UK but from jjcs who are just a year old in the UK or haven't even seen the airport right?Just last year you were here asking for advice from the same people you are here bad mouthing, how can a blind man lead another blind people? I know more about what goes on in Nigeria than you can imagine as i visit almost yearly and have people i'm responsible for in Nigeria. I worked my backside off to see myself through education here and benefited from PSW when it was first launched, so unlike you i'm not talking from 2-3 person's experience. You know close to nothing. |

Youtook:Can I ask this, based on your experience in the UK is the generalized MBA not marketable compared to the specialised MBA. ALSO, does having certification in business analysis and IT open doors faster in the UK. |

Sanmigbola:Generalist MBAs aren’t as marketable as specialized MBAs, not just in the UK but globally. I’m afraid I don’t have an answer to the second question. |

STENON:You sure about this?.... I know someone who read law in Nigeria, came to UK to do a masters in Law and couldn't find a law job so she switched to teaching and now a teacher I think there is a conversion course or something |

Youtook:Thanks, but in my case this will be my second masters(General MBA) , my first masters was in operations and production management. Do you know how marketable operations management is in the UK? Considering the fact that I studied business Administration for my first degree. |

hosey:Kindly look at the bolded statement. I will not allow people to be misled by you. Dear prospective applicant: Even if you have a 5 year post-study visa, getting a qualifying tier-2 visa is not automatic. Again, I will suggest. Choose your course wisely. Choose your university wisely. There are Shit courses and there are Shit Universities too. Be strategic in your thinking. If your main aim is to use student visa to port from Buhari’s Naija. And you don’t want to return to this forum in some years time to curse the UK for pushing you out of their country after study, then please. Choose your course wisely. Choose your university wisely. If you are a professional at home, have the relevant certifications. Look up the potential UK job roles in your field. See the requirements and certifications needed. See if you can get those certifications. Before you go to the UK for studies. Do NOT be deceived by anyone who tells you that Tier-2 after 2 year PSW visa is a sure banker. Na lie. You can get a Tier-2 after a 9-month MSc. You can fail to get a tier-2 after a 2 year MSc (with placement) + a 2 year post study visa. The crux of the matter is: Your course. & Your relevant experience. |

hosey:PSW is not a new invention oooo and it was stopped just here in 2012. Before then there was PSW but it didnt open doors for everyone . I know loads of people who had to go back after the PSW as it didnt roll over to Tier 2 Visa. So that statement above is a myth . A big myth That been said if UK doesnt have PSW I wont advice even my enemy to go near UK. Absolutely pointless and I discouraged everyone I knew |

Sanmigbola:My experience with the UK is that the degree is not so much that important , what is important is what relevant work experience do u have or can you say you have .... once you can sell yourself on that CV and in an interview then you are good to go if there is demand in that area . While I do have an MBA , I dont think anyone in UK cared or checked it and I have worked or reported to people with no degree as well. Its seems its more about what can you bring to the table. ... however I am not talking about jobs like medicine, research, nursing etc. Those ones your degree matters but for corporation I dont think it does but you need the degree to get Visa and use it as an entry point into the system if you get what I mean So for job your focus is not the mba per say but what relevant work experience do u have in operational management or the area you want to focus in |

LagosismyHome:Ya I remembered when Theresa May ended it. Yes. Not everyone gets it. At least those that come back would have had considerable savings and work experience and then would build to other immigration programs like in Canada and Australia or even stay back in Nigeria and establish. I like your last advice. Thanks for discouraging them. |

LagosismyHome:I was just coming to write this. PSW does not automatically guarantee anyone a job. It’s all based on luck and experience. I finished my degree this summer and I got two job offers from two big 4 firms. This was only within the space of 4 months that was left on my visa after graduation. One rescinded their offer because they couldn’t sponsor my visa - stupid HR thought the quota system applied to me but it didn’t cause I was switching from Tier 4. The other one came back to me with a start date and arrangements to start making my tier 2 application but I was already out of the country. Even with the PSW, some companies/firms will still be reluctant in employing a candidate that would require sponsorship. Experience, networking, making connections and applying for a thousands jobs a day will get you somewhere than banking on PSW but obviously with the PSW, you’ve got more time to send in applications. |

Let hosey be Justwise ,his only penchant is going from thread to thread insulting people and lording over them. Rude and arrogant to complement. If you hosey so want to force things down others throat, create a thread and choke them there. We learn here not insult. justwise: |

Law is in high demand in the UK, but sadly for the person you know studying Masters in Law does not qualify one to be a lawyer anywhere in the world. To work as a Barrister in the UK one has to do Degree 3/4 years, LPC/BPTC (1year), Mini pupillage (1year) Then you get called to the English Bar. If you came in with a foreign degree: GDL (1year) LPC/BPTC (1year) Mini Pupillage. The you are called to the English Bar. LagosismyHome: |

LagosismyHome:Thanks for the enlightenment... The work experience you are talking about, Is it the work experience from Nigeria before traveling? What about those kiddies who just graduated early 2019 with no work experience? Kindly elucidate this and other members of the house should kindly share their opinion.. Thanks |

Gavrelino123:There are some entry level jobs that cater for those groups or graduate entry level job but they are not many and competitive so some do get in. Also these British people do have work experience however relevant or irrelevant . Some start working part time before Uni, or take gap year in Uni to gain work experience . For those who have no work experience , despite they dont need work visa they do struggle to get jobs as well . Nigerian work experience can work as well, the person just need to know how to articulate and sell it well |

justwise:bro but sometimes those rankings are not true reflections of the best schools in UK because most Universities do manipulate their ways to the top bends. Just saying based on discussion I had with a tutor in one of the Universities, contrary opinions to this is allowed. |
| Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by justwise(mod): 3:40pm On Nov 15, 2019 |
Tobexin:I rather not believe that, if universities can successfully manipulate the ranking then you would have seen a significant shift in ranking by many universities. Ranking points comes in many ways..including feedback from graduates from that university, published research, facilities, profile of lecturers/professors, number of graduates from each university that was able to get a graduate job..etc |
