Nonsense. there is no data to support this. many dont know their status and many dont patronize hospitals especially government own for treatments. We re not in techy country where everything is documented.
.
It is not Nonsense Bro.

Yes many don't know because they don't patronize Government Hospitals

but

1. Every state has higher institutions that Carry out medical examination on New entrants year in year out.

2. pregnant Women nowadays do have secret HIV test conducted on them without them knowing. They even ask them to come with their husbands.

3. Same thing with nursing mothers.

4. Every complaint now, The Doctor would order for some tests be carried out on you before prescription or diagnosis and included is HIV codedly.

5. For example, I was told to carry out 7 different tests and RVS was included.

so costing official then circled the RVS before payment for the tests Then I asked him why he circled it? He Then smiled at me and asked if I had ever done HIV test before and I responded in the affirmative.

He now asked me when And I told him 3 times-Once in 2015 and it was negative.

Twice last year but I wasn't told the results.

He then said okay and I should go and pay. so I said since I'm paying, I will do it again before he now directed me to where I can get the test done separate from the other tests location.

Now, That is how I knew that this hospital or medical people have other coded names for HIV that ordinary people don't know.

6. so, it is the statistics of these few people I referred that they use.

7. Meaning that if everyone should have access to the hospital like you are thinking, then more people would be discovered to have HIV and the prevalence figure given would be higher.

But it is not mentioned anywhere in the post that that was what was done, which is my point - you can't just quote percentages without providing the context.

Haba, they don't need to mention it cheesy Does one need to mention how 2 and 2 make 4? We already know that is either by multiplication or addition.

It is the same with prevalence rate. Whenever you mention prevalence rate, any statistician, mathematician or economist already knows how it is estimated.

Obviously, you have never done applied statistics before, if not, you won't even make this post.

But it is understandable. I am a mathematician, and I have just told you how it works. It is the same thing an economist, statistician and epidemiologist would tell you.

I didn't belie the fact that there are no HIV patient in the core north, but there is no way you can compare and correlate the epidemic with the southern states like how ur trying to potray it!!

You guys are just bitter and frustrated with the research, if it was reverse, you won't be saying all these nonsense.. if it was polio, I would have question it too but definitely not HIV

Or are you trying to tell me that you know better than those researchers, why don't you conduct ur own research and publish it because I don't expect u to attest to it since it doesn't suit ur narrative

I'm from Zamfara state, in all that state, there is no one single open brothel!! But there are very few that are convert and secretive houses... just like states in sokoto, jigawa,yobe,bauchi,gombe,borno,kaduna...in this places, 60% are Christians and southerners,so can you relatively compare it with states like imo, rivers, anambra, delta etc that are known to stage the most number of clubs, brothels and hotels?!?!?!

The reason kano, benue, platue, nasarawa states have high number of HIV among the northern state, is because there are significant number of southerners and Christians compared to other core.northern states

The Super Elite Control What is on the media and what is allowed to be sold. If you come up with a cure the media will not talk about it and Drug agencies will not approve it, which makes it easy for them to arrest you and say you are selling drugs not approved by the drug agencies.
If you however your cure begins to gain popularity then you become a threat to them so they will kill you off. Google the death of Dr. Sebi and many mysterious deaths of hollistc healers that found cures that worked better than pills.

Many of you don't like to be corrected. grin

There is only one way to calculate prevalence rate. If you know it, you won't be asking questions about percentages. Your ignorance was evident from the moment you began to wonder about percentages and variations in population size. This study is not about number of HIV patients but prevalence rate of HIV. They are calculated differently.

Only the result of this particular study was shared on Nairaland. If you want to see the methodology section of the study, then you are better off searching for the original study rather than arguing about stuffs that you don't know anything about. But just know that there is only one formula (way) for calculating prevalence rate but you need to get off your high horse if you ever want to learn.

Gosh!!!
