Kalu didn't start today due to rotation I THINK. And I welcome the idea of rotation, as long as his direct competition can do very well. Which is why I've always called for continuous competition.

For me, our best two wingers are the two Samuels( Kalu and Chukwueze). Simon should be starting from the bench.

Why would you play Center backs as Dms when you have natural midfielders grin

Victor Osimhen is a beast. 2goals 2 assists!

But now we need a deputy. For me Onuachu is not an option.
. If not for Nacho wey dey do nonsense. Dessers and Ejuke are other options

haha GK coach? Someone who says he will still honor a call up to the team, no be as player? That still supports what I just said. Enyeama does not believe its time for him to hang his gloves.

So why did you then disagree with me?

Nigeria changed formation at half time to 3 5 2.. Simon versatility made that kind of switch easy.

Aina will get even more comfortable playing that role in SE with time. Whether he would do well against stronger opponents, we will see when the time comes.

We will see ke?

He has been tested there against stronger teams, hence the emergence of Colins

Enroute Russia 2018

Have you forgotten?

Yes i won't take that away from him too. You see him play as a wing back and winger on both flanks. Like I said, he is still needed in the team.

Very impressive scoreline though it could have been more than that due to missed chances. However, the team still lacks in some certain areas. Especially, the wing backs, where we were exposed several times and conceded the first goal from the right back.

Aina should be moved back to his natural position while we look at Chima Okoroji for redemption at the LB. Pending the time we try him, Idowu should be allowed to play on the LB. He is better than Collins both defensively and offensively.

Rohr should also look for a back up for Aina and Oshimen. I suggest Kingsley Ehizibue be given a look at. He seems to be more attack minded than Ebuehi. I have not written off Ebuehi oooo.

On the other hand, we need a better back up for Oshimen. We don't need to realize or start looking for one during crises.

Moreover, Iwobi's position needs a better player.

no, you are saying is possible to have a him as a GK coach squarely. If u say GK coach/player, then I would agree. The goalkeeper player thing na the koko. Enyeama is not hanging his gloves yet. Maybe he would accept the reality sooner or later.

Simon, i know functions well as a WB but his final decision making at the advanced part of the pitch has not improved from year to year. His development seems to have stagnated.

I agree with most of what you said, but Idowu?? Granted, I THINK Idowu would have fared well against a team like Lesotho.

On Nigeria's Commanding performance today

From Yinka Tinuade via Twitter....

Greatest takeaway from the game is that SE looked comfortable despite:

1. Artificial turf

2. High altitude

3. Arriving 24 hours to game

4. Conceding early, etc

These would have made past SE teams struggle but this team took it in their stride & dominated. Golden generation loading....

Well Said Yinka

I think why we changed to 3-5-2 in the second half was to be more compact and preserve energy due to the high altitude

Etebo's absence remains the reason for the manner at which we concede goals.

He is the missing link. He has improved a lot in his game. He should be ahead in the pecking order, followed closely by Ramon Azeez and then Aribo. Aribo is a decent player no doubt.

Omeruo and Balogun are still our best defenders. They bring a lot of maturity and stability.

Like I would always say., keep your benchwarmers on their toes so they don't get too comfortable in bench. Same applies to the regular starters. When you realize as a starter, losing your position means you could be out of the team completely in no time, you will give your 100% anytime you manage to wear that shirt. As soon as a deserving player is spotted, a player who has performed quite consistently for a period, he should be called up to replace a regular benchwarmer. This would promote a culture of excellence in the long run. Watch how our boys would be playing just before the world cup.

Nigeria grabbed their second AFCON 2021 qualifier victory on Sunday after beating Lesotho 4-2.

Allnigeriasoccer.com rounds up the performance of every of the Super Eagles player in action thus :

The Starters

Goalkeeper

Daniel Akpeyi: Caught unawares by Masoabi's early header but was composed otherwise and even bailed out his team on a couple if sloppy occasions. (7/10)

Defenders

William Troost-Ekong: Ably contained the Lesotho attackers and took no prisoners in his defending. (7/10)

Semi Ajayi: Reacted rather poorly after the cross leading to the conceded goal was put in, and was a false start on that note. Grew into the game as it went on and posted an assured display. Got in the book. (6/10)

Ola Aina: Yet another eye-catching showing from Aina. Astute defensively and was pacy both going up against the opposition and tracking back. Teed up Osimhen with a great assist. Based on his last two games for the Super Eagles, Aina has matured into a player with international quality. (8.5/10)

Chidozie Awaziem: Was a bit shaky. He inadvertently diverted into his own goal in the closing minutes. (5.5/10)

Midfielders

Wilfred Ndidi: Led the early press and saw a couple of shots fired wide. Held sway in the middle of the park as always. (7/10)

Joe Aribo: Had a quiet game and wasn't eager to join his mates in the attacking forays. Dropped back and kept passes rather simple. (6/10)

Alex Iwobi: Pulled his team level with a precise finish and set the pace for what could have been a difficult game for the Eagles. Showed flashes of his brilliance as their attacking verve took centre stage in Maseru. (8/10)

Attackers

Moses Simon: Stung Lichaba's palms with a long range drive and was a willing runner through the flank. Replaced by Samuel Kalu. (6.5/10)

Samuel Chukwueze: Dazzled on the right flank and was a nightmare on the break. Dropped in behind the Lesotho defence to score a top-drawer header. (7/10)

Victor Osimhen: Simply a five star display from the striker. Had the duo of Basia Makepe and Bokang Sello on the ropes for much of the game. Pinged in two assists for his teammates before joining the act with two great goals. (10/10)

The Substitutes

Ahmed Musa: Had few scraps to work on but his sharpness was glaring to see. (5/10)

Ramon Azeez: Looked a lot more adventurous after replacing Aribo and will pick out Osimhen with a nicely placed assist. (7/10)

Samuel Kalu: Showed his usual drive and trickery after his introduction but there was too little space as Lesotho retreated. (5/10)
