THE PRICES ARE NOT HIGH - you can also walk into a sawmill to confirm yourself.
ON THE QUANTITY? No1 can tell you if its high or low; unless the Architectural drawings is made available...

Thanks for your response, however, I am using slate and not aluminium or any fancy roofing sheets, so I expect it to be of a lower price in total but was surprised

'SLATE' and ALUMINIUM LONG SPAN requires about same wood..... its only special roofs that require more wood...

the only thing people can check for you (without seeing the plan) is the cost of each wood - You dont need people for that, just walk into any sawmill and find out OR check prices of wood in Nigeria on google..

The compressive strength of the vibrated block is more than the hand mould.

It's best specific engineers' monikers are mentioned so that they can respond.
They may not be chanced to follow the thread regularly but once mentioned, they would see it anytime they are online.

bros, i must say to the world that the hand moulding blocks are far strong to so call vibrated block at considerate number.
what constitute a good and strong blocks are: soil type, handler/moulder, water ratio and season, quantity per bag, cement status and so on. the first set was not good as the subsequence set set till end.

All things being equal, they can never have the same strength. Take them to the laboratory and see for yourself.

Some experts here stated 12mm can safely carry the weight of a car for soak away, so u may not be needing 16mm.

Hi my people
do one need pressure pipes to run waste through the chambers to the soakaway. I just got i quote for 20 pieces of 6' pressure pipe at 5.5k each and sundry sizes of pressure pipes for this external plumbing work. It sounds odd to me.

what size/type does one need to run waste chambers and soakaway things.
the insight will be appreciated.

anyone can suggest good service in mainland for laying interlocking stones

Sure.
Since its just the slab you can run your beams on the block wall/matting with 12mm and place on a good concrete mix over it.

Hello all. I'll be needing an urgent reply please. Is it possible for 35m to build a block of 4 flats (2 ensuite bedrooms ). This would include Aluminum roofing, POP, wall screening, painting, all toilet finishings including walk in shower cubicle, gate house and gate, generator house, all plumbing, electrical and mechanical works, interlocking, windows and doors,(Turkish doors) full tiling (Nigeria tiles) etc.
Can 35m build it from start to finish?
I got this quote from a builder. Is it feasible?

How many rooms per flat? You mean two bedroom each ensuite?

Pending your reply, my advice is this:

1.Get quotations from different contractors

2. Get a quotation, estimate or bill of quantities to assess quotations from contractors

Vibrated blocks are far better. You can read online about this.

If cars will be on your soakaway, ensure the structural components of your soakway can withstand this. Will the slab sit on blocks or on beams and /or columns? I prefer the the latter anyways.

You will need between 7/8 lengths depending on the spacing

Thanks for the detailed response.

Yes I am still keen on molding the blocks on site, below are some of the extra info you requested;
- We will use both sand and stone dust mixture
- We are looking to hire the molding machine and labor required
- I don't know the different type of machine, i just know of vibrated block making machine

Leads me to next set of questions...
What are the rates to hire molding machine and what is rate for labor per block?
What is the desirable sharp sand & stone dust mix ratio?
I understand the 30-40 blocks per bag of cement part, but how many cement needed for 1 trip of sand (just as example)?

If i have these info, then i can do the numbers and work out my material list and cost to achieve the total quantity i need.

Thanks

I am so sorry, I should have replied.

I will reply shortly by modifying this post.

Thanks

Depending on the some factors, labour per block moulding is NGN30-50

If you want to have 35block per bag of cement you will use 1:19.

5 ton tipper of sand or dust will produce atleast 300blocks.

I don't know the cost of hiring for block moulding machine

Labour: N1,000 - N2,500 depending on how complex the design is.

Materials: N2,000 will NEVER be enough for materials alone even if you want a flat ceiling.
Range is N3,000 - 4,500 depending on the design

Materials and Labour: N4,000 - N6,000 depending on designs.
There is also this discount on volume.

Attached are 3 different designs, definitely rates can't be same

^^^^ A guide...
Dominionng:

It is charged per sqm. Volume, location and most importantly type of design are major factors in deciding rates per sqm. Don't let anyone deceive you that there is a fixed rate per sqm for POP ceiling.
There is what I call
Budget designs(image 1),
Average design(image 2) and
Luxury design(image 3)
In budget designs, one is expected to use a bag of POP cement for 2.8 - 3sqm, 2 - 2.5sqm for average designs and 1 - 1.5sqm for luxury designs. So, since materials involve and time to achieve these designs ain't same, it is expected for rates to vary. Talk of quality ceiling or POP Precast vs Plasterboard is a discussion for another day.
At the moment based on the present hike in POP materials, you can get a good ceiling from 4,000/sqm. Maybe a little lesser if your project is in the eastern part of the country(POP materials is cheaper in the east at the moment).
