Hello I am applying for a UK visa but I have had a traffic ticket from lastma Nigeria which I paid after contesting in mobile court. The offence was making call while driving and I did 3 hrs of community service. This happened about 6 months ago. I want to know if this would be in my records and if I need to disclose it in my application? Also, how would this disclosure affect my chances

It will not

Her chances are very slim as a grown up adult with no tie to Nigeria. She has very little document to convince the ECO that she will return to Nigeria if given a visa.

Are you uploading documents yourself? If yes: 1. Evidence of document loaded and accepted 2. Original International passport and 2 photocopies of data page 3. A copy of the application form. 4. Appointment confirmation letter 5. Active ATM Card for POS payment for walk-in appointment

Dear Justwise and other Gurus in the house.

Pardon me for my lengthy narration. I am part of a project execution in my office and as such, were told to go on annual leave early this year so as to achieve the project's goals.

I applied for a Visa last year with my family but was refused, applied personally in December based on the office project and was issued successfully. In my preparation, I moved funds to my GBP account but with 40 pounds cash with me when I got to Heathrow's airport because I don't want to be moving cash around since I have paid for my hostel and trains within London ahead while in Nigeria. I have evidences of the train tickets with me.

However, in March this year when I got to Heathrow's airport, the border officer complained that the cash I had with me was too small. I showed him the funds in my various accounts even with my GBP account but was denied entering. My office in Nigeria was contacted to confirm the veracity of my status and also my contact in the UK. The major reasons were:
1) I have 40 pounds sterling with me, paid for 7 days hostel but have a return ticket of 12 days

2) I said I am seeing my contact in the UK.

I was told I have to be detained of for investigation but have the option to appeal but will take 28 WORKING DAYS to complete. In order not to jeopardise my project work in Nigeria and lose my job, I opted to fly back home immediately.

Before leaving, my Visa was CANCELLED on the spot.

I later appealed the cancellation in Nigeria and the decision was neither rejected nor accepted with a condition that I should have appealed in the UK. Even the appeal fee was refunded. I want to apply for visa in January to visit during Easter period and will state all the incidences with appropriate references. I have a printed statement of account for the GBP as at then and the response I got when I appealed the decision.

Can I go ahead to apply and hope this will not be seen as a sort of desperation?

Thank you.

Please i need more information before responding. Do you fill in your application that you have someone in UK ? If yes is that why you said you have contact in the UK because i didnt really get that part. But if you do otherwise, thats a lie which attract penalty which will determine if you can apply immediately .

Secondly, you could have booked hostel with free cancellation for the entire trip which you can cancel if you don't want to sleep there after passing POE

Thirdly , the 40 pounds cash is too small considering you are a visitor which might not take you to your destination depending on where you are going. I know Oyster card is used within London for buses & train except you are traveling to other cities thats when you need train ticket.

I applied that I will be travelling with my spouse but right now he's engaged and can't travel Anymore. I want to travel alone. And ofcourse I didn't say I know anyone as we were supposed to stay in a hotel if travelling together but since I will be going alone, I will be staying with my friend. I understand I still have to book hotel so as to avoid plenty explanation of where I'll be staying. The thing now is that most hotel will need you to cancel atleast 2days before arrival or pay, how do one tackle this as I have to have a valid hotel booking to pass through immigration incase if they ask.

Book an hotel as you said. Try travelodge hotel.
https://www.travelodge.co.uk/

Choose the hotel branch near as you said in your visa application.

Choose Flexible rate only and do not include Wifi or other features as seen in the website below:

"Flexible rate

Cancel up until noon on arrival date
These rates are still great value, but offer the most freedom to change bookings. Bookings are fully flexible and can be cancelled up until 12 noon on the day of arrival. Please note that WiFi is non-refundable.T&Cs apply"

When you successfully pass the border and enter UK then you can cancel the booking online up until 12 noon on the day of arrival. Even if you miss the 12 noon deadline, only the first day booking will be charged. The remaining days booking will be refunded.

Good luck

Justwise and co, A friend applied for a visitor
visa in August and was refused visa ... I advised him to send an email to complain against the refusal on 9th october. On the 29th October, He got a message that an ECM has agreed to review his application for reconsideration and that he'd be contacted after the decision. On the 07 Nov, He got anoda message that his UK visa application has been concluded by Visits UK and will shortly be dispatched and since then nothing has happened. What do you have to say about these as we are really confused. find attached the screen shot of their response.

If you are referring to the message you attached here then his complain was not successful, the ECM agreed with the ECO regarding the refusal.

If you are talking about another email then you need to contact them to ask about the delay in sending the passport though this sort of delay is common.

Please read this thread to understand how visiting visa application works, it is not about how much to carry, its about how much you earn and how much you plan to spend on the trip.

So you need to do a budget for the trip and avoid spending more than two months of your monthly net income.

When u applied to get a visa..
1. U provided a bank statement showing proof of funds
2. U provided proof that you had adequate accommodation for the length of your trip and so you wont be recoursing to their public funds.

This is one of the reasons why ur visa was granted because you had satisfied them to an extent. The onus is on you to prove to the border agent whether you should be granted entry. We keep making these mistakes. That you have a visa doesn’t mean that you would be granted entry at the border of any land.
To make matters worse you a tourist abi came for your company’s program carried only 40 pounds cash to travel to the United Kingdom and then you didnt have a complete hotel booking.
It is not their business to look at your account statement. Have your money in hand .. to them this proves that you didn’t come with ulterior motives.
This is a lesson for intending visitors, especially if it’s your first UK visa. You will be checked, cross checked and counter cross checked.
... my friends that came into the UK this week went through the same experience at Heathrow and Gatwick.
U must clarify what you are here for, you will show your cash, no audio money allowed and then show your proof of accommodation for your whole stay... it is not compulsory it is the hotel you said in your application.
Just make sure u hav proof of accommodation for the whole stay tallying with your return ticket and a contact number of whoseover’s address you are using.
If these conditions are not met, you will be detained. ... and then interrogation starts...
Try and watch Border force on DSTV, this is their routine. They will contact your office, seize your phone, read everything inside.. incase you were discussing any ulterior waka, it will be seen.. all these while you will be kept aside and then all your expressions will be judged.. whether you are looking guilty.. this and that. It is not a pretty sight. It can be avoided especially if it’s your first trip.

If your visa gets canceled at the border of any country, Even the Uk government believes the border officer that did that did so to protect the United Kingdom from an intending overstayer or non transparent visitor and so they will stand on the side of that officer and you cant win any appeal against any visa cancelled with prejudice such as in your case. I am yet to read of such.
I am sorry that you have found yourself in such and I do hope earnestly that you could explain yourself better in your next application and then come here to share the testimony.

U were not honest on your form about not having a sister which is a close family in the UK... and now you want to disclose this information and also get an invitation from her... people do this I know... but it’s not good because of your future applications such as in your case.. it may or may not bite you in your next application.
