What was his first degree in

Thank you for your response, studied Geography and I studied Agricultural Economics.

umarwy:

If s/he wants to change into cyber, one doesn't need a degree you only need to download vmware/Virtual box and practice using industry tools like Kali, nexuss, etc and learn how to use, and configure Linux systems, plus learn about server hardening etc. 2k or less worth of courses and exams might be far benefiting to them and a 3 year degree.
Most degrees both in naija and UK don't give you the necessary tools to excel in industry. But naija like book and we dey use am take style port out of the country.

Thank you so much
Would just go for the masters degree and then do some courses to get the necessary certifications needed to go into cyber security.
Thank you so much

Hello seniors
Please for someone who wants a second degree, is there something like age barrier for a second bachelor's degree?
Reason is this, my spouse would like to switch to cyber security, but doesn't have any IT related background. So we are thinking of doing a bachelor's degree first.
Also, are there things that masters students are entitled, that bachelor students can't get?
Plus can a bachelor apply with dependants?
Please if there are any good suggestions, kindly avail me
He should do professional courses first. Start with CCNA R&S, Cyber Ops and then maybe Security+. If he can, spend a few months using those skills in a company, even if it is as an intern or volunteer. The experience will give him a background in IT, that may be used to substitute his lack of academic background in the field. Alot of schools will require you have a Bachelor's in IT or working experience, before considering you for a masters in the field, else it'd be a swim against the tide.

@justwise @zoey1 is this account statement okay? I had to open a savings dorm account and the school suggested Sterling, so the only transaction i have within the last 28 days is the transfer in of the funds and interest on it

I have my IOM examination tomorrow, what's the average time spent doing the tuberculosis test?
Honestly, you are going to spend the whole day, and the processes require you stay around until the Xray is done, then you can leave and come for the result later if you wish. Averagely you are going to spend 5-6hrs. Got there 9:30, left 3:35 just yesterday

Wonder why the school would suggest that ... a naira account is perfectly fine as well. Money is money

Well I was moving the funds from a UK account, didn't want to incur unnecessary loses in exchange rates fluctuations, so the dorm account was best way out.

If the money on it meets the requirement then don't worry about lack of transactions

Cyber ops yes
Security+ yes
CCNA not necessarily, maybe n+ as CCNA is very in-depth into Cisco eco system and more about networking. He needs just fundamentals.

Plus certifications are good, home practice labs are better.
I can't emphasize the home labs enough.
There are a lot of online resources most of them are free.
Professor Messer has free n+ and sec+ videos you can use to learn.
Getting the knowledge is much more important than getting any certification

In addition to what LaaJiblik told you, ensure you only look for employer who is eligible to sponsor for Tier 2.

The below link will help you:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/register-of-licensed-sponsors-workers
https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/immigration-rules/immigration-rules-appendix-k-shortage-occupation-list
https://www.gre.ac.uk/visa/after-your-study/tier-2-visas

Also, if your occupation is on shortage list, your Tier 2 visa fees will be lesser. Also, it will be much more easier to get a sponsor as the minimum annual salary theshold is reduced. If you want to obtain permanent UK residency after your Tier 2 visa has expired, you will be exempt from the £35,000 salary requirement if your job is on the shortage list.
Boss, thanks so much.
You are always helpful.

Jobs
Jobs
JOB!!

When you think about job, think about Career.
There have been people who enrolled for 2 year masters at all manner of ‘campuses’ in London because there are JOBS in London.
These folks got plenty plenty jobs in hospitality, security, care, support etc.
The ‘bad news’ is that these jobs do not offer T2 visas.
These folks went back to Naija and have been bashing the UK system non-stop.

When you think JOBS, think CAREER progression too.
Thanks sir.

Liverpool very lovely city, home of LFC and Everton FC, lots of hospitality, bar/waiting on, care/support jobs. But I will advise you to look for a job relating to your current and future career to improve your skills/CV.

Accommodation budget should be around 300 a Month, you might see a single room for less. Healthy African and Nigerian population mix so a lot of African shops.

Kensington, anfield, Smithdown road are popular locations for students. Go on right move/ spare room to search for rooms/houses within L4,L5 l6 l7 l8 arears
Thanks sir. I appreciate.

You can't secure a network if you don't know its depth, so either CCNA or Net+ is a good way to start. They serve as a very good foundation to build up on. Now I don't support chasing certs just for the certs themselves and leaving knowledge behind. But since the applicant is transitioning into IT and Cybersecurity, certs are a good way of validating his skills. Few months working in the field only might not give enough grounding as combining with a cert.

Hi, I’m new here, I have an offer with 3 schools for January 2020. Nottingham Trent university (IT security)
University of Greenwich (Data analytics) and
Kingston University.
But my issue is getting the bank statement ready and the 28 day wait, I don’t think I can make it.
I learnt there are finance companies that does such at a cost. Or if you can give me suggestions on what else I can do. Thanks

Good day bro.
If you mean that the funds have not been in your account for 28 days and you want to use a finance company for what exactly as a sponsor or to finance your account .

Because the UK would only a sponsor from your account or parent account . No one else !!!!

And if you want them to finance your account for the time being , you will still have to wait for 28 days before you can apply for Visa.

My advise to you is just wait till Sept or may intake cos the time is limited .

Your account would be ready by December ending and most schools stop issuing CAS by December 25th for January intake .

The needed English proficiency test would be displayed in your CAS from the school to the Embassy . So only whatever the school asked form you while you were applying would be asked for during ths document submission.
This could be either your Waec result or Ietls or Toefl
But most universities in the UK are comfortable with just a Waec result (credit in English) especially for master students

Yeah to finance my account for 28 days.
I think the deadline to apply for CAS is 15 days before the course starts.

Thanks... That means the Embassy doesn't require English proficiency for visa unless the school needs it.
