Serious motivation to drive. Last night I was so tired at lekki and have to drive to mainland, got a trip to shomolu and it was a 65mins trip... I gently arrange my India Arie and John Meyer compilation with d mindset that I'm not going to give into rider 97.3/98.5 or I'll tell em straight, I'm using d music to avoid sleeping while driving. Fortunately he got along and we both enjoyed d ride. I think riders should give drivers dat space to b able to play dia choice music once in a while (not always), just as a source of motivation for dem.
Yeah, some do. They allow you play any choice of music, they will just flow along.
While some may not really have the gut to ask u to change the music

This bolt self, dem no dey give person money for cancellations self?? How will sb drive 2-3km to pickup location and after waiting for rider only for them to say I’m not at that place, come here, come there. You keep turning around for almost 10min and rider cancels. Yet driver doesn’t get anything for logistics.

Bolt really need to be more disciplined and build on their integrity. No wonder all the bad news about e hailing business is always about it related to them.

I also think we drivers needs to come to get and speak with one voice and if they don’t dont listen to us then we can boycott them for like 1month then let’s see how they can survive without us.

In fact, it’s annoying, abi they are forgetting that without drivers they are good as gone?

Elders in the house please let’s do something about all these irresponsible and lack of insurance from these guys please

I'm sure they did all these, but I think the issue boils down to getting drivers to install the screens, how much are you willing to pay, and most importantly, getting the clients to advertise

Those three, to me are huge barriers
This is my suggestion. To succeed where they failed, one will have to start with promo advert (like 2-3 months) for the potential clients and also tip drivers so as many as possible drivers will have the screens in their cars. Once these companies notice that they get more customers from the adverts, after the promo they will be willing to subscribe. In short, one will have to pump in money... like opay

Actually, their motive is to see how to drive the use of their wallet such that it will become a traditional means of transaction for people. That's why they are coming with many services.

I must say, I prefer making payments using their wallet. Apart from the discounts, it's very convenient, straightforward and fast

I really don't know. Do you know?
I think taxiappguy and carshopper worked with such companies. They should be able to enlighten us
I don't, but it will have to boil down to not getting adverts from companies. So to take a step further, one will have to devise a way to lure companies in

Since na long trip, I just give am one excuse, continue with Disu. Dude just dey murmur
I love riders that come with their earpiece, they don't care about what you're listening to. They just plug in their earpiece and listen to their own thing. My best kind of riders

Guys, you all are missing it ooo.
Why would a rider order an "Uber" or "Bolt," enter and start interacting with one small screen at the back of the driver's seat?

Let's imagine typical e-hailing riders:
1. The KPMG accountant leaving Egbeda by 5:00 am and who has to be in the office by 7:00 am to finish the report he dumped by 9:00 pm the night before;
2. The "runs" girl on her way to the client's place for some hours of work;
3. The bank Marketing Executive who wants the e-hailing vehicle for the next 4 hours so she can meet up with some clients and follow up on her leads;
4. Mr. Lagbaja who lives in Argungi and who wants to get to the International Airport to catch a flight;
5. Ms. Ladelu, who just came in from the abroad and wants to get to her Duplex in Ajah in peace and quiet ...

I can go on and on. No matter the profile of the e-hailing rider you think of, why would he or she want to interact (press, navigate, watch, maybe buy) a screen that is installed in the car? More especially when he or she has one or more of his or her own screens?

If that question can be answered, then you have a best-selling product or service ready to go. Drivers would install. Companies would advertise.

But it has to start first with riders engaging the screen.
No matter your status and how busy you are, if the content is relevant, and attractive, it will get your attention

Not all agency or companies believe in direct marketing using E-hailing platform. Reasons going from compliance and monitoring, deployment, measuring impact and visibility or sight of line. But it's still something that I am pushing vigorously.

Ok thanks.

I understand it can be difficult to achieve compliance in the business. But I believe there should be a way to ensure/confirm it before payments are made to drivers. Monitoring can be worked around to an extent.

Deployment should not be too much difficult to achieve.

Visibility is a bit under monitoring. As long as drivers turn on the screens, visibility is achieved I think.

Impact measurement is similar to TV adverts or screens in BRT.

My exact point!
Make the content relevant and attractive to the riders first before, for instance, spending money on advertising.

Happened to me. From Igbobi to Surulere to drop off two little children I later figured was her elder sisters' then we had.

Rider. Please wait lemme drop this children and be back
Me. OK
After 10 mins... I called her after she's not showing up.
Me. Madam please I'm still waiting
Rider. Oh I'm coming.
Another 10mins she showed up.
Rider. See how you're shouting, or am I not gonna pay for the time wasted?
Me. Sorry but I prefer not to wait.
Rider. You're a big man. It shows in your countenance, yen yen yen.
Me. lipsrsealed

Rider. Please I want to use an ATM
Me. OK
Rider came back and said ATM seized her card.

I laugh hysterically like a possessed Susanna. Na so she para begin vex say why I dey laugh when ATM don seize her card, now how am I gonna pay you. I told her call the persons that can pay let them do it. We got to her place and fare was N3700. Babe don't even have N10 with her! Called a guy to pay the guy told me to go that I should trust the BRO CODE that he will send it tomorrow.
I told him baba BRO CODE no dey buy fuel for fuel station o. He laughed and just told me. Bros go no worry

Like jazz.. Na so I move. By evening next day the girl called me to come to her pick up point to pick her again. Now, I was at the car wash closed to her workplace. I just went there. Saw the guy and the girl and baba laugh when he see me say you soji. After trip gave me 10k. Made me a deal of first refusal on the girls trip.

No no doubt it won't come without sweats and nearly throwing in the towel attitude. Advertising and Marketing via visual aid will require a large war chest and continuous watering.

From partnering with drivers to App developers, fintech to riders and stakeholders these will not be easy. But if we take up challenge at a Demo start-up kind of. Roll out a 3months free installation for drivers and train them on workability of the process because remember now we will be working against the norm of one of the prerequisite of the ehailing companies (A WORKING STEREO SYSTEM).

That is why I said... Partnership with stakeholders is key to achieve this.

Know something today... A car that runs at least 12hrs every day must and should be maintained even before breakdown. Now not to hold brief for your uncle, I think your uncle is capitalizing on NA MY BROTHER GET AM mind to do what he's doing.

I'd say you give the management of the car to a different person. And zero your mind off family sentiments Let your uncle be paying rentals to your proxy because (Seem you're not in Lagos).

I'd say you give the car to another driver, tell your uncle you bought the car as an investment and you're not pleased with recurring defaults from his mandate. (This is if you really bought it for investment).

I'd say, put your uncle on a 6 months higher purchase kind of target. (6months he pays 500k). If he defaults you collect the car.

With these... I rise!
