I still feel that it takes more courage to commit suicide than it takes to succeed in life....

Universities should have programs for frustrated students. There should be therapists who schedule sessions for these students to help them scale through the hurdles of school.

I am a 400 level student of medical lab science in one of the universities in South east. My dept have kept me in school for going to 7 years now because of their rules if you fail one course you want write professional exam, sometimes it's not the fault of the students but our lectures in this school around very wicked, they derive joy in falling students, to have an A in my department is like going for a war front.this is making it the second time in repeating 400L because of their carelessness and wickedness. But I still will never give up because I know what I want, suicide is never an option, no matter what you're going through always believe in God and yourself.. Some Nigerian universities have a way of frustrating students sometimes.. What I know is that by next year I'll write my professional exam and enter final year.. Please never give up no matter what you are facing in life. Always stand your ground. Thank you.

Show me that person that doesn't receive insults on Nairaland. That's a lame blame. We are here on Nairaland mostly for fun
Not everyone is here for fun please.
You can't define people's desires with yours.

Some people are going through a lot, they came here to get away from stuffs but their innocent opinions get insulted upon and called names they are battling with in reality.

Do you know how many people send PM's for help?

I won't say more.

They should have some form of support group for the students to share their problems. I agree with you.

What I believe that those that see suicide as an option are very selfish and wicked, If not anything because of your love ones, do not do it. Only if you have mental medical issue, that is exempted. Also instead of killing yourself just like that, why don't you do one historic act that will make generation to generation to remember and sing praises of you

Suicide is not a solution to life challenges

There are things a true born again Christian can't do. Taking your life lands you in hell seconds after. And then the lake of fire. The sweet thing about Jesus is that, in your weak moment, His Spirit will be speaking to you, guiding you, showing you things through dreams and the scripture that will keep you hoping until you are blessed.

Generally to avoid suicide, think about the people that love you and how they'll feel. Visit the prison and hospital and see how people are fighting to have what you are enjoying, life and health. Visit the motherless baby homes and let little kids inspire you. These things will keep you going for a long time. Only Jesus in you can keep you in the hollow of His hands forever.

As a Christian, if you ever suffer, you know there's something the Lord is putting together for you plus the accumulating interest. Thus is the deal for most Christians. How was Joseph able to put up smile in prison? The spirit of God in the life of man!
You just preached a wonderful message.

RIP young man. His friends did not realize it but he when he started talking about suicide, he needed immediate intervention that would have included the help of a professional psychiatrist, counselling and medication. It is a situation that can happen to anyone who is depressed and under stress.

If they sing praises of him, he wouldn't be alive to hear them. So that is also a waste of effort.

Mophasa:
A final year student of the University of Port Harcourt in the department of electrical engineering Mr Prince Digbani has committed suicide at his off-campus apartment on Monday.

The native of Bille in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State reportedly complained to friends over his lack of fulfilment in life.

His friends said he had earlier told them of his intention to commit suicide adding that they strongly advised against it.

They said he went home to his off-campus apartment and by 3:51 pm on Monday, started updating suicidal posts on his Whatsapp status.
They said they called him severally but he refused to answer as his updates became more worrisome.

His co-tenants said they heard scream and noise from his room and when they broke the door, they found him convulsing on the floor.

The neighbours said they gave him palm oil to drink after they found out he had taken a poisonous liquid.

They said he was subsequently rushed to the Lulu-Briggs medical centre where he was pronounced dead.

Family members later arrived and deposited his body at the mortuary of the University of Port Harcourt teaching hospital.

I don't really know what his own idea of fulfillment could have been but suicide was definitely not the answer.

I've been through so much this year, suicide has never crossed my mind. No matter what comes my way, I'll keep on fighting and searching for fulfillment.

everyone come to Jesus. there's joy, enjoyment, and fulfilment here.
Well, in a way, even if one doesn't believe so much in faith, I feel religion has a great impact on our perception of life and it's challenges, and therefore, our general mental wellbeing.

Most times when I feel empty and depressed, I do attend christian meetings to feel better. cool

Lack of fulfillment in life at 21-23?
You wont understand sir. You see at that age, most youths are busy painting that ideal life they want and a little hitch to that plans might cause a lot. I had my share of things when I was 19. I just got my heart broken the 2nd time by the Nigerian defence academy and been the kinda guy I was who hardly talk to pple, share my thoughts, share my mindset or even talk abt the bad side of life. Suicide was just popping into my head.

Well I decided to pour my heart to my mum who prayed with me and made me realise at 19 I wasn't a failure yet and I can. Still give Nda one more trial or two. This was all I needed to pull through. A good advise from someone I cherish and she was even like if per adventure I think of suicide I shud imagine the aftermath of it on her. I can't bare to see my mum unhappy so I disposed the thought of suicide just because I spoke to someone. Goes by saying the next year afterwards I got the admission HV always yearn for and even though life didn't ho along with the plans I made but its going fine after all. My sister on her part invited me to the outside world in nairaland form and I realised I was even better than a lot of youths out there. I won't be surprised if that guy was like me who never talk to pple abt what goes in on his head etc.

I hope you get my point though

Hmmmn so many people are going through tough moments these days, Most especially the less privileged people. Keep a closed eye on your loved ones. If you have the means, assist them In any little way you can. Suicide Isn't an easy thing and not the best option, Surviving and staying put In life Is even Harder.
