Hello house,

My sister is yet to decide which of these two programs she will apply for: the first is a diploma course of 2years and a certificate program for just a year.

Pls, what student visa duration will she be given for either 2years diploma or 1 year certificate course.

Secondly, will she be permitted to apply for a work visa after the completion of her 2years diploma course or 1 year certificate course, depending on the one she finally chooses.

Finally, which is of a bigger benefit, 2years diploma or 1 year certificate course or both programs are indifferent in terms of additional benefits?

Thank you all

Hello Slimmsyyetty,

I have addressed this question on my earliest post, check it out. But however, i will try drop some insights.

Before choosing a program/course, the things to consider are:

1. Purpose: Immigration or career advancement.

2. Progression: Previous program/course of study or work experience.

Thus, the visa duration depends on the study length or the validity length of the passport. Also, prior to the completion of her program, she can apply for a PGWP. However, a 1yr program amount to a 1yr PGWP while a 2yr program amounts to a 3yr PGWP, which is enoungh to apply for a PR.

N.B: if there is no substantial or concrete convincing reason of doing a Diploma after a first degree, then opting for a PGD/C will be advisable.

slimmsyyetty:

Thank God I have gotten the answers to my questions. My questions were almost the same as IboBoyNuel, but pls what is the duration of Visa that will be issued for just 1 year certificate course? Thanks

@JustMellow @Qudkom @Frankrobbn1

You will get a 1yr visa. Normally, programs stating 1yr runs for 8 months. So the visa is issued beyond this duration to allow proper preparation to leave Canada. The reason is because IRCC don't want anybody coming back to them saying they forgot their tooth brush.

All the best

Hello everyone
1. Applying via paper route, is it OK to perforate and spiral bind all documents together?

2. When submitting through paper route, how do one make payment for visa?

Pls I anxiously await your reply. Thanks

Hello Oganammuo,

No need spiral binding but you can draw out/include a content table for easy sorting out by the VO. Prior to submitting at VFS office, you are required to pay by cash.

Good luck!

You dont need to spiral bind all documents together cos they will still rearrange your document for you at vfs global. Regarding payment, cash only.
Hope this helps.

Hello house.. Quick one please... what is the difference between Paper Route and Online application? Any significant advantage of one over the other? Why is it preferred if any... I see more paper route here and I am confused.. someone please shed more light... Thanks..

Hello Glasses1,

As it stands, no added advantage to either routes. Both are currently been handled by same VO (Nairobi). Go ahead to apply through the route that seems comfortable for you.

Good luck!

Hello Maxwelldexter,

Its not a must but it also takes nothing to get it done except on the basis of budget consideration. It could cost between 5 - 10k depending on your location.

Those who resides in Lagos can drop the exact address of the SCID.

Good luck!

Good day guys, thanks for all the support and assistance people have been getting on this platform, God bless us all. I linked my paper application to online but eventually got a denial correspondence on 15th November. Ever since that time, i am yet to get any other correspondence as to picking up my passport. Please what am I supposed to do?. I have equally checked vfs site using the tracking no and the status remains that my visa is still being processed at the canada embassy. Please I would like to how long it takes to get the passport retrieved, would I be contacted by vfs via email or would get anorher correspondence online advising me to pick up at vfs or peradventure there is something else am expected to do?
@Gurus in the house, kindly assist. Thanks

Hello Cdaniel,

Your passport pick up notification will either be communicated to you by email or text message. Given the delay after a final decision has been made, try contacting the VFS office you submitted via phone (google the number).

You will be properly guided with the received information on how to duly contact IRCC in regards to your passport return.

All the best.

You can find a comprehensive list of the required documents on the first page of part 15 and also on IRCC website.

For a boost of confidence or inspiration, browser through this thread or previous to see the list of submitted documents similar to you case/profile by previous successful applicants.

Thank you @JustMellow

From ur explanation, two years post graduate diploma is better but we are just looking at the possibility that a 2year diploma course will require a higher POF, compared to a year certificate program. For instance, POF of 6m maybe fair enough to d VIO for a year program, compared to using that same fund for a 2 year diploma course.

But if fortunately, she was given a year visa for her 1 year certificate course, can she quickly apply for another course within that 4month that is left after completing d certificate course she came for?

Thank you

Go for online is cheaper and stress free. Why do I say so?; because you can submit your application at your convenience, then book for an appointment for your biometrics.

Justmellow, thank you very much for speedy response. But I know all the required documents. I've been following and reading a long time.

What I meant is how do I get the visa forms to fill? Is it the same way as in online route, after filling them, then I will print it out to have a hard copy.

Am thinking of submitting in Abuja and not Lagos. Is it possible I can do biometrics the same day, because I will be going from owerri. Or I will submit, go home and wait for biometrics mail?

I was refused student visa 2017, online route, will I do another biometrics, or the first one is still valid?

Apart from putting my documents together in an orderly form, is there any other special thing I will do, other than going to Abuja to submit it?

Pls justmellow, frank, everyone, pls help me with this?

Good people of this thread,

I would be applying for the Canadian Study Visa next year against Fall 2020.

My issue is that the Date of Birth on my WAEC Certificate doesn't correspond with the one on my International Passport and Birth Certificate. Is this much of an issue that can lead to Visa denial. This is so pressing because WAEC has stopped effecting corrections on my issued certificate. I am confused and helpless.

Please what do you suggest I do. I am a prospective Master's student. Thank you.
