Heavy usage is relative.... if I connected a high-speed usb flash drive to my phone (OTG) and streamed movies off of it.... That's extra power going to power the drive and read content off of it...... contrast this to if I were just watching off of my internal storage, vs streaming over wifi, vs streaming over LTE, vs streaming over 3G, vs varying levels of brightness.

Or if my phone was just playing music via headphones(wired), vs wireless headphones

Then consider the thermal conductivity of the phone's internals, bearing in mind that even two units of the same device are not 100% the same.

Battery usage is very relative and cannot be categorized absolutely. That's why manufacturers always talk about typical usage...... Typical is in itself a relative term. And there's nothing typical about the real world.

God bless you for this. I don't know if he's trying to learn or just enjoy swimming in his own tepid pool of ignorance but whichever way, teachers are on ground to show him the way.

This thread should be tagged a thread of enlightenment. I've had to go and check and read up a lot on phones ever since I started following this thread. It's not enough to just talk, sometimes thinking before talking saves you from a whole of embarrassing boob.

But that's a wrong thesis

Not only when a battery discharges when idle that it is a problem. Even when a battery doesn't last up to its normal battery life then its also a problem.

The essence is that there is no "normal" battery life.... Get the maximum power rating of your device and work that against the typical rating of your battery and you'll see it falls far below the "normal" life....
Also bear in mind that as your device ages (months not years), the thermal ratings of components degrade and battery life suffers, also the battery becomes less efficient as more charge cycles accumulate.

Damn!
I was able to hold note 8 pro beside note 8 in Raya today.
I must say, note 8 pro is one hell of a beast!
The camera is out of this world.
Seriously, if you have money for the pro, go for it. Thank me soon.

It depends on the phone, but Most phones that were upgraded to Android 9 happened on MIUI 10.

Redmi 5 Plus android version update ended in 8.

It shipped with Nougat (7.x)

Does that mean a phone can't get more than 2 to 3 different Android updates/upgrade?

So what's the normal battery life for 4000mAh with FHD+ 409ppi IPS LCD screen on heavy usage? I want to learn abeg. You're talking like there's a set standard somewhere. Fine! There are expectations but then I hope you know battery life still boils down to individual usage? One guy posted a very long SOT here and I saw that he doesn't really "stress" his phone that much... Just basic things. For people that play games, stay online almost always and do other battery-sapping stuffs on mobile, you don't expect them to hit those expectations. Even the word heavy usage should still be based on different individuals. Your heavy usage might be the lightest of my usage and vice versa.

This is one of the most informed analysis i've seen in a long time, Pls @KngGezy what's ur say on this. I want to hear ur postulations in relation to this assertion.

Is that not what I said 48 hours on normal usage

But a normal phone with a 4k battery will last you at least 12 hours on heavy usage . Even the guy admitted that the software had to do with the quick drain. So mr sense what are you now saying?
don't tell me you couldn't comprehend the English here... 8 to 9hrs on light usage.. 5 to 6hrs on gaming which is heavy usage.

This is the sot on my redmi note 8. With the way it's going, it's gonna reach 9plus hrs sot, considering I played pubg for like 30mins.

Once again you have indulged in using demeaning statements. You charged from 0 to 100. Which should last at least 48hrs for a 4k mah battery under low usage. And under heavy usage you should get at least 12 hours. You are now saying by 3 or 4pm is that normal. The complainants didn't move nor bathe nor eat. Its 9hours a battery of 4k will last you for? Bro don't justify abnormalities abeg. No one is dumb
Mention with sot evidence a Samsung device that gets 12hrs under heavy usage (even under average usage) . If you can do this you'll earn my utmost respect but if not you can continue to wallow in your ignorance and lies
FYI.
You can only get 48hrs under low usage for a 4k mah battery if you charge and barely touch your phone.

Charging a big battery is however normal If you subject your device to atypical usage........ On dull days when I'm far from a console. I find myself locked in 4-6 hours of gaming (PUBG/Asphalt) and more hours of web surfing and movies. Definitely have to charge after 7-8 hours of uptime.

It only becomes a problem when a battery discharges considerably when it is idle

Now here's the guys quote, he also noticed the abnormal battery consumption so why are you guys mentioning me?

sorry for correction you, I'm a heavy user. I started using redmi note 8 on Sunday morning 5.20am. I Do many things on it, just to check the stronger capacity battery. I was satisfied with my usage. And after I charged 2 twice, the battery normalised, cos I upgraded to ui 11, and the battery drain faster then

I needn't enter unnecessary arguments with anyone. The guy admitted that the phone was draining battery. That's enough evidence to prove the abnormality in battery life. Posting any other thing apart from the complainants admission will be digression. I'm not doing a comparison on which device is better. I'm just trying to bring to light what most are desperately trying to hide

To show evidence of a claim you made is digression?
You just keep talking about what you've never experienced.
I'm sure when I promised you that I'll be here to seperate facts from fallacy you thought I was joking right. Just a simple evidence to backup your claims you cannot provide. I still dey wait for you.

2.I have been on this thread for over 3years now.
3.I have used different types of Xiaomi phone for over 2years now.
4.lastly I didn't just write what I wrote based on your argument about battery issue. I knew the very day you came to this thread and how you have been so ignorant and argue without facts.

Its all about that less heat stress on the battery

Even you think about it yourself without reading a research or something it makes sense by itself
heat is what degrades the life of the battery.

argue with my boxers grin

so the guy might be right, experiencing too much heating issues after the MIUI 11 update on his phone.

Lol.. You're just trying to prove a point that there isn't.

Immediately I started using using RN8, I decided I was going to put the phone to various tests and I did. Drop test and it didn't break (..madam Fibo for buy new one for me sha) I tested the battery both on light usage (..just come online to surf for a while which basically involves WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and using opera mini) and the phone lasted for well more than a day. I also tested with games (PES20, PUBG, CODM, Cover Fire and Asphalt) with all at the highest setting and graphics possible and my battery didn't last for up to a day. I think I got around 6-7hours with that.

I don't know where you're getting your 12hours on heavy usage from oh but personally, I'm cool with my battery although I'd fancy improvement though but who wouldn't?
ask him if there is any Samsung phone that last 12hrs on heavy usage
