Are Nigerian Women Oppressed By Nigerian Men? by Nobody: 4:29pm On Nov 08, 2019
It seems Nigerian women have created a victim mentality that they are oppressed, but lets look into our society and see, are they really oppressed, if you say Nigerian women are oppressed, how are they oppressed, for all i know Nigerian women are given preferential treatment in many things and are also allowed to do anything they like because at the end it will end with SHE IS A WOMAN ,LEAVE HER ALONE, the reality is that we allow many of our woman go free for behaviors that could land them in jail in western countries.

in terms of jobs, are they discriminated against, NO, we can look into our society and see the preferential treatment employers give to women in our society, i can count the number of jobs men have lost just because a woman was employed, even in many household today, many woman are working and earning good salaries while the men can even find a job, if you look at our society today, many men are frustrated and depressed and on the verge of suicide due to lack of jobs

on pay gap are Nigerian women discriminated, NO as i have written earlier, there are many women earning good salaries than their husbands, even in many organisation in Nigeria, men and women are paid equally, even in the civil service, men and women are paid equally, so where is the oppression?

In politics, are Nigerian women discriminated against? No, the only reasons you see men in politics is because they are ready to take the risk, work without sleeping and travel all over the place without just to get votes, how many women can give this total dedication to the game, there many women here in Nigeria who have gotten political positions on a platter of gold, without the handwork, funny enough, politics is open for all, in every party, you have the women causcus which shows politics is inclusive.

in the schooling system, are they discriminated against, how come there are more females in many departments, where is the discrimination against women in our educational systems, a recent statistic brought out by waec says women perform better then men in waec, does this not shows that in many homes, the females are showing more attention the educational needs of their female wards than their male wards

in terms of crime, are they oppressed, if you visit a prison, you will see that the male prisoners is more than the female prisoner, sometimes 200 males vs 5 females, is that there are no females committing crimes? there are many, but we let them go because eh is a woman, lets not forget many of these males in prison must have committed crimes to satisfy a female out there, the reason why you see less females in prison is because most men will protect women and wont report violent crimes to the authority, even if reported sometimes, the authority will advice you settle out of the system.

on domestic violence, are women really oppressed, you see many women talking about domestic violence, they are very vocal about it, very fast to demonise the man but i can tell you that, many domestic violence are started by abusive women tempering on a man's ego, there are lot of men who are victims of domestic violence, but you wont see them complaining because they are scared that society will mock them.

in our society, are women oppressed, pls i will like an oppressed Nigerian woman to explain how oppressive is bride price, when it favors your family members, how oppressive is bride price when your family members monetized it to enrich themselves, how are Nigerian women oppressed, when getting married to one can cause a fortune, make you frustrated, broke and maybe make you live short, we should not also forget how a married woman is given respect outside,

lets look at government socal programme, we all know the tradermoni programme, i can say with facts that 90% of people who got that loan were market women, nobody stop them and say because you are a woman, you can get the loan

Nigerian women say, men practiced genital mutilation on women, that is the biggest lie in history, i can count the many times i have read in blogs and on nairaland where an older aunty or female relatives have advice a family member to cut off the clit of their daughters so that she wont be promiscuous.

Are Nigeria women really oppressed, we also shouldn't forget that if a Nigerian man dies, all his properties becomes the property of the wife, yes, it it true we have seen brothers coming to take the man's property after his death but these cases are 1 in 100 cases

Are Nigerian women really oppressed, when all we read in this nairaland is about how to satisfy and make a woman happy, how to do this and that to a woman but this same women will come out to complain that they are oppressed when men call them out for their bullshits

The problem of the Nigerian woman is that they always compare us to the white man, the white man is this and that but funny enough many of them haven't been with one, the truth is the only reason they love the white man is because, they want his money, they want visa, they also want to be free to do anything they like without repercussion, they want to eat their cakes and have it, when the white man they idolise so much show his true colour by running away, maltreating them or divorcing them you see them come back to realty, the truth of the matter is that no relationship is perfect, every relationship comes with ups and downs. The reality is that Nigerian women do not value the Nigerian man, that is why the Nigerian man is quick to say foreign women are good when he receive a little kindness from them.

in conclusion, I have seen more brutality done by our so called oppressed Nigerian women t other women than so called oppression by men to women
