They started arresting uber and bolt drivers in Abuja since last month.
The the Agency they are using is the notorious AEPB task force. Abuja environmental protection board.
They will even order uber in town and arrest them when they arrive for pick up.
The country will forever remain this way if all we can do is complain online.

They can pass through bt they can’t pick people up at the airport. That’s fair enough to protect the air cabs and that’s how it shud be. U can pick ur Uber outside the airport premises or cover area.

Lagos Airport. Is that one an airport? Considering the amount of international and domestic flights out of that place alone, the airport should be an icon of Nigeria. But no the airport is so useless. If you want to see what airport looks like, you can I mean ones that meet world standards then go to Frankfurt Airport or the one in Seoul South Korea or even Minnesota Airport or Heathrow. That airport in Lagos is so useless and backward. Airport security collect bribe openly. My question as always been that considering all the money that airport makes from both domestic and international carriers and higr airport traffic in that airport wher does all money go to? Your guess is as good as mine. Not only uber but the airport itself should be banned. What a sensible agency should have done was to have a meeting with all the ride sharing agencies and look for the way forward. For example many U. S airports now require ride sharing services to pick up and drop off at designated areas and not anywhere. It's called curb side management.

As much as we love Uber's cheap prices, it is actually very unfair competition.

Uber rides are worryingly cheap and despite that, the drivers are still charged a commission. It doesn't add up.

It only adds up when you take a look look at Uber's balance sheet and see that it makes losses of up to $800m in some quarters. That means it is simply surviving off investors' funds. It has a very high burn rate. I don't see how it can ever be profitable. Taxi drivers, not just in Nigeria but in other parts of the world are not really competing against another taxi operator but against Uber's financier's funds. Taxi rides needs to be priced at a rate they can make money.

I feel at the end of the day, ride-hailing apps should steer clear of running a cab service, but instead act as an intermediary linking taxis with customers and in exchange, receive a commission or earn money from advertising.

My $800m loss is even conservative when you read the article in the link below. It talks about a staggering $5.2bn loss in a quarter

That's not fair at all, I believe there should be equal opportunities for all to do their business freely, is not left for the passengers to choose which of the drivers to use.

I guess its left for you to make a deal with the taxify person. At the end, you cannot beat technology.

Are you sure? FAAN agents will start ordering rides to the airport to make them part with 10k when they arrive to pick up the passenger.

With time, the riders will not honor trips to the airport, being unsure if its a real passenger or a fan agent.

Stupid.
The local taXi drivers should adjust, adapt and improvish. This is the 21st century for God's sake. You can't remain behind when the world is moving in the speed of light in technological advancement.
The local taxi drivers should upgrade or move to a more local area.
This is an airport for God's sake.
That's why we should always learn everyday, keep up with new technologies. Because not learning and upgrading is the smoking of the 21st century.
When you tell them to get rid of Tinubu, people call it hate. The local taxi guys are NURTW members,do not forget. If I will suggest anything, it is for these e-hailers to leave Nigeria and their problem.

It’s like the same madness that is afflicting LAX in Los Angeles, has afflicted FAAN. The LAX authorities also banned Uber and Lyft from picking up/dropping off passengers from the curbside of the terminals.

Hmmm...interesting. I am against Uber or any other foreign giant corporation reaching into Nigeria.... why must we allow then to control us? But then... the Airport Taxi service need to be regulated. Why can't they be made to operate on a similar Uber platform? Why can't the fares be regulated?.... and drivers meet certain requirements? Besides not having considered these.... there is the issue of security.... why wouldn't kidnappers... robbers... killers pose as local drivers? The arriving passenger now has no option but to take the once chance risk. The decisions these people make I wonder what they be smoking........or what they need to be smoking.
