Nigeria's foundation wasn't designed for development at all and it is very visible for the blind to see.

Taxify are uber doesnt generate revenue for faan, but airport taxi pays 500 for every pick they do at the airport.

Nigeria leaders hates innovation because they usually feel threatened by it.

Progress will be very difficult in Nigeria.

There are more Nigerians employed through Uber or Taxify than the local taxi system. Their excuse is not valid for stopping Uber at the airport.

They simply want to continue milking travellers because they are levying these local taxis huge some of money [/b]daily.

Besides the bolded, it is most likely those calling the shot are major stakeholders in the local taxi business. Else, how can one explain that these learned person will out rightly reject innovation and convenience. The local taxis need not panic if they are more economical than those banned. I hope they are not just finding a way to charge them too

Stupid.
The local taXi drivers should adjust, adapt and improvise. This is the 21st century for God's sake. You can't remain behind when the world is moving in the speed of light in technological advancement.
The local taxi drivers should upgrade or move to a more local area.
This is an airport for God's sake.
That's why we should always learn everyday, keep up with new technologies. Because not learning and upgrading is the smoking of the 21st century.

News/implementations such as this irks me most about Nigeria.

Only in Nigeria is something implemented same day. No consultation, no transition baa nothing, just sense confusing and pain costing rubbish

Secondly, how do they want to identify taxify and co. There is difference between them and private cars/drivers. Just another opportunity for sense nonenties to play king on their duty post and for more chaos in an already chaotic environment

Why can't FAAN encourage the taxi drivers to upgrade? Competition is necessary for fairness and choice options. Compelling everyone to enter cars mostly with no A/Cs and at exorbitant cost is most unfair.

Security wise, UBER is safer too. Any random guy with a bad motive can register to join the local cab operators which have no trackers installed.

Airports should normally have options for bus and/or rail services as cheaper options. We have neither. Sad!

Are you sure? FAAN agents will start ordering rides to the airport to make them part with 10k when they arrive to pick up the passenger.

With time, the riders will not honor trips to the airport, being unsure if its a real passenger or a fan agent.

You really think ahead sha

Iranu those local taxis at the international airport charge you like you travelled out cuz of them. Could remember one idiot charging me 6k to egbeda while Uber took me to same place for around 2k. Pretty sure some of those ogas own those taxis and gave it out to drivers.

Ist it was Sars....
Next the customs and boarder closure
Next it was Operation show ur identity
Next it was vat increase
Then charges on pos
Next: no TIN no bank account
Next: DSS chasing out judge
Then the stupidity of FAAN.....

We should be ready for more before this year runs to an end.

Anyone could wake up with any policy so far you are the head in the organization because they are sure no one will question or call them to order.....

In God we put our lives.....

Just disgusting. FAAN must be collecting heavy bribes from these notorious airport taxis they are not able to moderate in the interest of the travelling public.

You drive to the airport (Nnamdi Zik, Abuja) and you cannot get a spot to park because these taxis take up all the parking spaces in their vast unregulated numbers.

Very annoying. Crude racketeering. Goverment should call the FAAN to order and sanitise our airports which are nothing but glorified motorparks.

And its unfortunate that the greedy and selfish leaders of our brothers from the south west gave them the liver and the key to run this country as they like because of crumbs

As much as we love Uber's cheap prices, it is actually very unfair competition.

Uber rides are worryingly cheap and despite that, the drivers are still charged a commission. It doesn't add up.

It only adds up when you take a look look at Uber's balance sheet and see that it makes losses of up to $800m in some quarters. That means it is simply surviving off investors' funds. It has a very high burn rate. I don't see how it can ever be profitable. Taxi drivers, not just in Nigeria but in other parts of the world are not really competing against another taxi operator but against Uber's financier's funds. Taxi rides needs to be priced at a rate they can make money.

I feel at the end of the day, ride-hailing apps should steer clear of running a cab service, but instead act as an intermediary linking taxis with customers and in exchange, receive a commission or earn money from advertising.

My $800m loss is even conservative when you read the article in the link below. It talks about a staggering $5.2bn loss in a quarter
