For those born before 1992, it's better you get the Attestation(the Long Format) & Sworn Affidavit of Birth done @ the NPC office. ( For those in Lagos, that will be at Babs Animashaun in Surulere).

The Embassy may accept the "Short Format" of your Birth Certificate at your K-1 interview(it's better you even do the new one before your interview), but you will need the Attestation (the Long Format) & the Sworn Affidavit of Birth when you are filing for Adjustment of Status(AOS) in the U.S.

As far as i know, you don't need any authentication by any ministry for your attestation certificate. The Attestation certificate or birth certificate issued by the NPC is sufficient by itself.

International organization for migration Abuja seems to be the best but quite expensive.
There services are top notch from the securities to the doctors.

I had my medical examination yesterday and they just called me for pickup of my results. Like seriously? How fast!

@Brownesugar @disguy1, Attestation of birth Certificate should be authenticated by ministry of foreign affairs for international purposes, you can ask people at NPC cuz my friend told me about one woman that came to authenticate her children's birth certificates cuz the Embassy told her to do that and send it back to them via DHL .

Secondly, is like the authentication of birth certificates and attestation of birth certificates are done only at the Ministry of foreign affairs Abuja. Go to Facebook or Twitter and search for ministry of foreign affairs Abuja and ask them questions I think it will clarified this issue.

As far as K1 Visa Process is concerned, you don't need to authenticate thr NPC document.

Okay, one more question please. In my case, I have applied several times to the US and I never stated it in all my applications that I was married. Now if she fill this info in the K-1 application, and during the Interview, the VO request to see the marriage certificate, and notices that I have been married before I started applying for the study visa in the past and never stated it, do you think it can cause a problem for me?

Tell them the truth. You may be reprimanded but they will not deny you your visa unless they have reason to believe that your relationship with your fiancee is not real. But if You lie, you'll be caught and will be banned frpm entering the States. You might even be arrested right there at the Embassy.

This document will be accepted by the Embassy. However it may not be accepted by USCIS when you want to apply for greencard. So I advice that before you travel to the US, take the document to NPC Office in Surulere and ask if that's their official document. If it's not, they can provide the official document which you can take along with this to the US.

I advice you go to SSA and get your Social Security Number. You'll need your international passport, i94, birth certificate and passport photo (not sure) for this. You can also open a joint account with your fiancee. Some banks allow creation of account without SSN. Also you can go to the Courts/Registry to make enquiries about requirements for Court Wedsing and then get married . All these can be done independently of each other.

For drivers license, however, you'll need your SSN. I recommend that you start looking up the requirements for your State. For each State has slightly different requirements for obtaining drivers licnse.

I think the Embassy will accept this. So you need not worry about your K1 Visa interview. But I don't think USCIS will accept this when you get to the US. So I advice you take this document to NPC Surulere and clarify from them. Make sure You do this before You travel to the US.

The CO gave two white sheets did not indicate to bring additional documents and that I should contact the embassy after 30days which I did through my lawyers. One of the forms was for joint sponsor which the embassy has replied that I don’t need a joint sponsor since my fiancée is way above the minimum income level. Till date I have heard from them and my lawyer was advising for us to wait till 120days from date of interview. Am quite confused. Need the best advice on what to do. Pls it’s serious. Thank u.

I don't understand you. You made two statements that are contradicting each other.

You said the CO did not indicate to bring additional documents but then said that one of the white paper given to you by the CO was for joint sponsor.

I'm also confused as to why you are using a lawyer.

Please clarify...and maybe I can profer some advice.

The Letterhead and the official stamp imputed on the doc done at the NPC office is just okay.

You can download your i-94 from this website: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov

Look for the Section that says: I-94 "Already Visiting & Need Proof of Visitor Status?"

Then under that phrase, Click on the Tab that says "Get Most Recent I-94"

Fill out the form as necessary & print it out.

And yes, go ahead as LegitBachelor advised.
