Catchment is working in education sector but why not allow it to work in resources control? Each state should look for ways to generate revenue and keep 80% of revenue for itself and send 20% of it to federal. |

Just shut up your mouth and prove your point as you don't unibuja as I do, I graduated there and I know how it is face your ABU and the underage girl am sure she is part of the underage voters in the north |

The Op can only post this because majority of people here can't ask objective questions. 1. The process of admission is the same in all federal university in Nigeria. The merit, catchment area and educational less developed state. 2. Out of the 120 students claimed to be admitted to mbbs in Abu, all states can't have their quota of 2 to 3 candidates applied to ABU. The reason is parents from non northern states will hardly allow their wards who want to study mbbs, apply to northern university because of insecurity. Can the Op publish the names, scores and state of origin so we can see the transparency? 3 is Niger state one of ABU's catchment area or elds? 4. You claimed she ranked 7th from her state, can you publish the name and scores from her state. U advised a brilliant girl that was on her parthway to study mbbs, to enroll in anatomy, are you for real. Answer these and we can continue from here. Besides are you the spokes person for ABU? I doubt. |

Let me get this straight. So if a boy or girl from Borno or Yobe scores 201 as the highest in the state, he or she will get into MBBS ahead of a girl who scored 300+ because of quota, diversity and inclusiveness? What baloney! Total malarkey! Where is the reward for her hard work? She would have easily sat for her WASSCE, cheated, made 6 credits, and enter road forking all the boys in Niger state, get pregnant abort, spread HIV, and constitute nuisance, but no, she decided to work hard. The incompetence in our educational system is grossly alarming! |

IAmStrange:See it oh, this is what we were trying so hard to correct yesterday. Nigerians and hasty conclusions. Why not try to find out the reason for denying her admission b4 pasting it on social media for everyone to judge. Would it have been better they sidelined others above her to appear fair. To the young girl in question, if you are privileged to read this, you have what it takes to be in MEDICINE no doubt, but some of the best drs u see today didn't make it at a blow, it's a tough competition. Don't give up, best of luck. |

Bedwyr:Your point (c) should be a Southerner is more likely to find it harder to get into a NORTHERN university. There are more universities in Southern Nigeria. And the Northerners hardly go to the South for studies. |

damtan:302 is a very good score, but not stellar enough for MBBS since the school will be picking only the 2 best performers across each state and the FCT and according to this report she is 7th in her state. The competition that comes with seeking admission for MBBS is crazy, especially getting in on merit. |

Bedwyr:1. Typographical error. I meant 225,not 205. 2. We see this backward policy everywhere; intake into the civil service and government agencies, secondary school common entrance, university admission, intake into military and para military, or any government program, etc. Those who make it based on meritocracy are barely 20% of the intake. The rest are based on this kind of allocation to minimally qualified persons, while the highly qualified ones are made to seat on the sidelines. Sad thing is , the policy tends to favor a geopolitical region, that is why there is a national outrage. I repeat my question. When less qualified persons run the affairs of the nation, how can we make progress? |

bnovative:you think Abu is so primitive that folks from 36 states won't apply... you guys are ethnic jingoist... d issue has been dealt with just continue to ask questions already answered... we need more schools to cater for people simple... kaduna alone has citizens from all 36 states... Abu is one of the top 5 prestigious university in Nigeria and d entire north... take a trip to Abu u would see Southerners who school there even in maiduguri southerners still go there how much more Abu... |
