damtan:Ofcourse, she chose the most competitive course and The most competitive Northern Nigeria university. If they can't admit more than 120 students, then 3 students per state is 36*3=118, apart from school of matric students, catchment area, ELDS, still she won't be admitted |

MoIbrahim: You guessed wrong. I am Urhobo from delta state. Did what i write offend you? One more question, why do all the states in the North fall under Educationally less developed states ? I mean all the Northern states. And your region has been in power for 9 regimes Calls for serious concern. I think it should be written like this LIST OF EDUCATIONALLY LESS DEVELOPED STATES 1. Bayelsa state 2. Ebonyi State 3. Cross-rivers State 4. Rivers State 5. All states in all the geopolitical zones in Northern Nigeria 2 Likes 1 Share |

ursamajor:It's said all of them chose ABU, and I'm sure at least 4 of them would have choose MBBS. Meanwhile, the OP said it's 3 per state multiple 3 * 36 state =118 students, remember they can't admit more than 120. And also if you know there is school of Matric students, who are to be admitted, there is ELDS, There is catchment area and international students |

Obviously AASU, has never deemed it fit to fight against quota system and other quotas used for admissions. The members of AASU benefit from the fluid interpretation that comes with this quota system. You have the VC's list and some other bullshits. Yet, they have the temerity to drag the Nigerian masses into their fight with FG over IPPIS. |

This is a good riddance to bad rubish, how can she not be addmmited into her own course of choice just because of on stupid quota system you're claiming to be operating in your school? Does this really make sense at all, so, any candidates who scored far below her from another state will be allowed and addmmited. this is nothing but a pure madness. When is merits and performances going to be rewarded in this country called nigeria? that is the more reason why we are not moving forward as a nation. |

Snowale: Little bit of advice, don't look down on the anatomists, physiologists, nurses, etc. They are the folks that would help you become a better doctor. And they are not duller than you, if you must know. If you go through life thinking you are better than others because you read medicine, think again. I know many people who were more intelligent than I am who did not read medicne. Good morning. An anatomist, again, is not a dull person because he or she is reading anatomy. 3 Likes |

ObongNizz:is there proof that they admitted anyone with 180? It could also be the person with 180 from a Southern state that got admission if it did happen. Finally it is MBBS.....you have to be extremely sound to get into one of the top schools for that course.....and her 302 might just be a 300 overall when the list of qualified applicants are arranged |

When Nigerian politicians wants to justify illegality with their speech, they muddle up facts and fictions together, knowing fully well that only few would bother to sift through the two. Whoever this guy is I don't know, but he'll make a good Nigerian politician. He is good at spewing out jargons and thrash thoroughly mixed together and making look like he's talking sensibly. He said and I quote " As regards the case of one Goodness Thomas, she would have made it for the MBBS Merit list from her state but unfortunately she was number 7 on the list in terms of jamb score from Niger state* and only the first two were picked as it is in d case with all other 36 states and the FCT, she also wouldn’t have made it for the 2nd & 3rd criteria for admission as the number from the Medical and Dental Board limits ABU MBBS to only 120students per session so please do the maths how would U have admitted Goodness into MBBS and justify it even if U are on the admissions committee" the question I want to ask this guy is: did everybody who had very high score in jamb in each state apply to ABU as this statement he made which I quoted above suggests? No matter how cosmopolitan ABU is, most first generation federal universities are just as much cosmopolitan. I finished from University of Ibadan, and one of the best young lecturer in my department(mathematics) at that time was from Kano state and other departments had lecturers from across the country too. So let's call a spade exactly what it is, a girl scored above three hundred and we have someone here telling us why not admitting her to the faculty of medicine in ABU is justified, what a load of bullshit! there is no justification for turning down such a brilliant young mind. I wish that girl had applied to university of Ibadan instead of ABU, then she would have been able to realize her dreams. |

unmask: 300 or more from her state? You really believe every state in Nigeria had their ward doing mbbs in Abu? For me the proper thing to do is for ABU to publish the names of students who applied for mbbs, their state and scores. Anything less is a sham |
Re: ABU Didn't Admit Goodness Thomas Into MBBS Cos In Niger Alone She Ranked No. 7 by KayyDee: 9:53am On Dec 20, 2019 |
Although ABU seem to have their admission policy already spelt out b4 this young girl's unfortunate misadventure, This is still not right in the 21st century where merit reigns supreme in most counties of the world. In fact what their admission policy entails is that: someone from Zamfara who only scored 230 or lower, could be admitted to study medicine in ABU if he's ranked 1st or 2nd in his state's Jamb result (for that particular course/department). He ends up being a Med Doctor. While someone from e.g. Ekiti who scored 320 is denied because he's 4th in his own state. So, if this is what ABU calls merit, then that is indeed the poorest form of merit that i have ever seen. This is even despite the fact that they have reserved another 20% for educationally less developed states (whom we all know that are almost all from the Northern region) While ABU's intentions might not necessarily be bad (as they may truly be pursuing a truly altruistic agenda, like having a truly cosmopolitan school), it still makes no sense in this modern time. _______ _______ _______ _______ _______ In fact, admission to higher institutions should be at least 90% based on pure merit, as it's done in most Developed world. Except they want to tell us that this is to accommodate most Core Northern states, who might not be able to get such competitive scores to be in some top departments. This is because, i believe that without this their admission policy, most southern states will still make it in, by their own individual merits. --Shallom-- |

femi4:Seems you know nothing about how competitive MBBS is. I have seen people with better score, who were not admitted. 3 aspirant per state*37 states=121, they can't admit more than 120, and she is the 7th best, apart from that they have school of matric graduands who should be admitted, there is ELDS and catchment areas, and international students |
