traihit:Northern agenda for you. Isn't it the same useless people that use quota system to admit low scoring northerners to medicine and now they are using flimsy excuses to deny a legitimate candidate. This northerners are just retrogressive people that no sane society should harbor shikena. |

Daft imp, If you want to cut short your deplorably wreched life, you can just give your clique a sip of the milk of your frustration, you see them murder you due to frustration mixed with mental instability in them. You think even in abroad, they admit immigrants than their citizens, just because the immigrants have high score. [quote author=MoIbrahim post=85057661]Honestly *the person who wrote this piece “Injustice to one is injustice to all” is completely ignorant of the process of admission in Ahmadu Bello University Zaria,* & 3. Less Educationally developed states list 20% (in other to give candidates in some selected states that are not as educationally developed as the others a chance to be in ABU as they are at a disadvantage and cannot stand their colleagues from the opposite side) which makes 100% for each department and in doing this no state is left out. This above is nonsense, why are we still doing this. if you are not good enough, you're not, why should you be considered before someone is has worked harder than you........Not fair This explains why we have some mediocre senators from the north.....most likely this is how Dino got to the senate |

MoIbrahim:Your analysis is wrong. Permit me to point it out to you that merit criteria is not based on states as you presented. Two from each state of the federation. Yes, she might be No. 7 from her state, I put it to you that state isn't the reference point on merit criteria but catchment and ELDS |

MoIbrahim:Oga leave all this thing you are typing here we already understand, but if the said candidate has attached Zainab or any other related names to her name, weda they are picking maximum of 3 from each state, they would have found a way to fix her in, I'v lived in Kaduna state for over 20yrs, most of guys picked up the name Ali or Suleiman before they were admitted into ABU so safe me this long epistle, i know what am talking about....The only varsity in the North i can vouch for in terms of Merit is FutMinna( once u pass the cut off mark, just start preparing for school, cos u MUST be admitted, i don't know about now tho) |

I laughed when I read some people say ABU is sentimental and tribal blabla . I don’t think any other federal institution Nigeria has the level of cultural mixture that ABU possess as a tertiary institution. Sometimes you be around the campus and be having a feeling you are in Ibadan , sometimes you feel you are in calabar speaking community not to talk of the middle Beltans . As for the the lecturers , I had more lecturers from the south in my four years than the north . In ABU admission process even if you score 90/100 in aggregate score you still have to wait to see if other applicants from your states didn’t do better with 91 and above . I had 97% for me to be admitted from ogun state . |

I wish to know the school that graduated you. Surprisingly, you can call somebody immigrant in his Country, but you depend wholly on those you call immigrants for revenue, your entire economic activities are dependent on their oil projection. For the most successful from my clan, let me challenge you with names. 1. Ngozi Okonjo 2. Chinua Achebe 3. Chimammada Adiche 4. Arum Oteh {President World Bank Vice President) 5. Chile Eboe-Osuji { ICC President}. |

So with a score of 300+ in the almighty jamb medicine still non sure. When you go to a hospital as a patient do you find out the school the doctor did graduate from? The advice I give to young folks what matter most is your grade , it is therefore advisable to go to a school that will give less stress. I have a very brilliant friend who choose medicine but was given vet.medicine in ABU he struggling after graduation because the course isn't sellable in Nigeria. I know if he had choose Uniben even Abraka he would have being given medicine as surgery. I also have a friend who struggles academically who went to Abraka to study medicine as I speak he is a flying doctor in the military. What matter most is your course of study and grade. During employment what the interviewer wants to know is your course of study and grade not how strict your school or professors where. #BeWise |

traihit:are you in anyway undermining the quota system? If so then you need to learn how to fix yourself in the shoes of others. Remember merit was given 45% according to the O.p it wasn't neglected. The quota system gives room for all to be involved so as to improve the academic awareness across the country. A system in which if it we're adopted much earlier would have helped the country. Careful how you ascertain cos even in democracy, check and balance is required. Except you don't support the presidential Zoning system then you shouldnt support the quota system.. |

No matter how one exonerate ABU from admission issues, still, ABU admissions are lopsided year in year out, and on religious grounds especially as from 2004 till date. They allocate professional courses to them and push Christians to non professional courses. Quote me on this. |

MasterKernel:Only if a novice writer like you could point out the flaws of my grammer. But, you can't because you of your inability to decipher between the use of "can be a blunder". Sure, all you could show off is the crude oil, which we all know it's no more a big deal, crude oil per barrel have reduced from $120 to $50, with the Advent of electric cares, you will be rendered very useless, and nothing to show off, before Nigeria commenced the exploitation of crude oil, you relied on cocoa from South West, rice from the North groundnut, corn, yam were produce mainly by us, No one complained. Let's watch and see, how the value of you exonerated crude oil drops. Meanwhile, Lagos and Kano, produce the highest revenue for Nigeria, and they are the most populated states. |

To put this argument to bed once and for all, I know most of the proponents of the argument that quota system are doing so because of the fact that it's ABU, they worship and accept any thing from America hook, line and sinker. So will you bury your hatchet if I tell you that IVY league schools in the US also have quota for people albeit theirs is across race. here is a link for you. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_quota https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/harvard-lawsuit-bias-against-asian-americans-dismissed/140342/ https://www.quora.com/Is-there-any-evidence-of-racial-quotas-at-Harvard If I recall vividly, oil companies ( shell, chevron etc) have special quotas for oil producing states when it comes to jobs and scholarships, but since it favours you guys no one complained that merit is been sacrificed for quota. I recommend that we all learn about management. Any organisation or company who really wants to succeed in what it sets out to do need to have a provision to accommodate some of the interest of it's host. When things go south, they are your first line of defence. Peace be upon those who seek it. |

manlawal:hmm.. Bros how many lectures from plateau state do you know? Na kogi men dominate unibuja and the obvious fact on admission is based on the state of the sitting VC. We know the number of yorubas that dominated during the time of Adelabu same thing with idomas during adikwu. In terms of quota and merit unibuja is poor but rich in connection.. |

Snowale:Sometimes it’s better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you’re stupid than open it and remove all doubt. Did you say, Oil is all we've got to show for? Wow! I challenge you to list infrastructures that were built from Groundnut Pyramid and Coco Plantations we still have till date. Need I remind you infrastructures that we're built over 200 years in various states of the world. Lagos wouldn't be different from Ibadan without infrastructures from proceed of crude oil sells. Bridges Train Stations Roads Stadiums Military installations Airports Sea Ports Various Federal ministries. If all your claims are viable, why are your states government not doing them again? Or... They don't want revenue? |
