When I was younger my mom was a culprit of this nonsense, disposing off food and gifts brought by neighbours. Well anytime she wasn't around and a neighbour brings food after a party or function, me and my elder brothers waste no time to clear the plates , chop the big meats and leave zero trace.

This is the more reason giving to people, especially neighbors should not be only during Christmas. Have you been giving her things on ordinary days? If she had never received any gift from you, no matter how small, offering her a chicken worth 7k will raise suspicion on her part.

I don't support such waste coming from her because she could have politely declined the offer,, but stories we hear all around are making people suspicious of even innocent gesture like yours.

When I was a child, food and snacks were freely exchanged amongst neighbors especially during Christmas time and received with open arms and a grateful heart. We live in a generation where trust has eroded. But it's all sign of the times. With all the havoc and atrocities people have been committing, I dont blame anybody for being on their guards in matters like these.
