Omo, how many players do we have in Europe during Westerhof's era? Today, that 16 year Amokachie would be playing somewhere, in the backwaters, of Europe. And in addition, the Nigerian league is not as organized/competitive as it was back in the day. Hence, Rohr has no business staying in Nigeria. If we have any unpolished talented, they ought to be discovered by the cadet team coaches - U17, U21, U23 teams. Finally, Rohr has assistant coaches living in Nigeria who can monitor and recommend players for him.

Either way you look at it, the whole new clause craps is BS upon BS. Their only aim is to frustrate Rohr so he'll quit. I think they are getting tired of how Rohr has been calling them out for the unprofessional way they run naija footie. That's exactly why they want him out of the way. These people don't really care about whether naija footie is making progress or not as long as they can keep pilfering their loots.

O pari

you nailed it bro, and I think they want to install Salisu as the coach that's why they brought him back from his suspension and sent him to Rangers as coach

Clemence Westerhof, Bonfrere Jo and other coaches did a lot to develop me... Finidi George.

Some people think when Westerhof found the likes of Oliseh, Amokachi and Finidi George, they were finished products. Forgetting our coaches put in a lot of work to turn these gems into polished stars that became the toast of Europe.

Sitting in Europe and expecting Zidane to drop from the local league, is far from hilarious. There is a lot of work to be done for our national team coach to stay in Europe lounging.

When you sit to type what I've emboldened up there, I know you do that with all sense of accomplishment, like you've done something worthy of celebration. Well, that's not the case this time, thank me for bursting your balloons this time, because, everything you've been spitting since yesterday are just a bunch of vague and ambiguous hokum.

Which work exactly are you expecting Rohr to do on the local scene?

Is it his job to travel round the country scouting every monkey-post football competition looking out for the next Amockachi who he'd then draft immediately to the team?

You're OK with Rohr drafting clubless street footballers into the first team?

Or wait..

You expect him to go round scouting for gems like the next Oliseh, Finidi, babangida and the rest then look for a way to send them to Europe? I never knew you wanted to retire him from his coaching obligations while turning the old man to a football agent.

I expected more from someone who thought football education is important in the desired development of players in this time an age.

What's the quality of the tactical knowledge available for these gems to absorb to make the world beaters over here at the home front, Uh? TheGoodJoe?

It is not Rohr's job to scout for local players.

You have still not answered what Salisu is supposed to do if Rohr is scouting local players.

You have still not answered which local players Rohr should scout for, because thee only reason you should be speaking so confidently about scouting local players is if you have a few in mind

You are purposely evading the important points because they don't suit your narrative that Rohr must work like a jacky.

If you cannot recommend these gems in the local league, or tell us what Salisu is doing with his own free time (at least we know Rohr visits players abroad), then everything you arei saying here is okoto meow skrrrr

oga that is not suppose to be the duty of a national team coach. his main concern is tinkering the senior team and taking them to a better height. we are not in the 80's or early 90's when we lacked talents playing in top leagues in europe.

it is the duty of the nff and LMC to have a good developmental structure aimed at nurturing talents, coaches and development of the league. even a country like morocco that boast of one of the best leagues in africa rely mainly on their exports in top european leagues.

Belgium squad to the last world cup had only one home based player, I guess Martinez isn't doing enough to develop the Belgian league, maybe he should watch more local league games and bring in players to discard the likes of hazard and Lukaku

Let us talk about Odey.

He is struggling to get games in Belgium.

He has several strikers ahead of him and will need a few more years of development to make the super eagles. He needs to overtake: Dessers, Iheanacho, Maja, Sadiq, Onuachu, Osimhen etc. Heck, he could not bench Awoniyi in the under 23s.

Yet, someone said the coach should sit in Nigeria to discover talents that still need several years of development to get to a decent level to play for the super eagles.

Gernot Rohr will not be signing a new contract as Nigeria coach and will depart in June 2020, Opera News understands.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick stated that talks over a new deal - scheduled for January - will compel Rohr to live in the country and his employers will vet his list of selected players going forward.

But another top official has revealed that Rohr would not be prolonging his stay beyond his current deal which expires in six months, adding that reports in the media about a new deal is a smokescreen.

"It will take a miracle for Gernot [Rohr] to continue as Super Eagles coach beyond June," a top NFF official confirmed to Opera News.

"All the reports in the media about a new contract with stringent clauses is purely a smokescreen.

"He's clearly made public statement about the fact that he is allowed to speak to other countries or clubs from 1 January 2020, it will be better for him to start looking at his options now.

"Barring any unforeseen circumstances, there is no going back. The working relationship broke down after the last renewal due to a World Cup qualification bonus payment, that was few months before the World Cup."

However, Rohr has no intention of cutting short his stint with Nigeria and fully intends having another new two years with the three-time African champions.

Despite a deteriorating working conditions as a result of delayed salary payments and contractual violations, the NFF president has revealed that the 66-year-old's potential third phase will include specific clauses to ensure that he respects 'national integrity'.

"We are not going to compromise our national integrity again. He must live in Nigeria and can go to Europe two or three times a year," Pinnick was quoted as saying by The Guardian.

"He can stay either in Lagos or Abuja, where we are ready to provide a befitting accommodation for him.

"Other national teams' coaches live in the countries where they work and ours cannot be different.

"I must admit that the last contract was loose in so many areas, but we want to correct that now."

Pinnick said Rohr, like every other Nigerian employee, would now be subject to the existing tax regime in the country, adding that the federation was not ready to condone anything that would go against national interest.

Back in August 2016, Rohr inherited a team in shambles and had failed to qualify for two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments under Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh and caretaker manager Samson Siasia.

He navigated the chaos created by his predecessors - beating former African champions Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria in tough qualifying group - to pick a ticket to the 2018 World Cup.

He guided the Super Eagles to the tournament in Russia where they failed to make it past the group stage.

On the continent his drama-free management style helped Nigeria to a third place finish at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt in July.

Thegoodjoe I got your point wella and i want to say nothing wrong if Rohr can devote little time to watch Nigeria league.

Truly Westerhoff era cannot be compared to this era but one thing is glaring Rohr need to look inwards and see what is really going on.Nobody is forcing any player on Rohr or trying to create quota for home based team.

It's simple Ezenwa was Rohr best home based player but the same Ezenwa has been finding it hard to be number one in various club he has been keeping for in the same NPFL.

The question is who are the keepers displacing Ezenwa in Nigeria league and funny enough we have issue in that department, meaning Rohr has not done enough when it comes to monitoring of Nigeria league.

Oh I see someone cited Akpoborie's comment regards NPFL.I want to tell anyone who care to listen that Akpoborie does not believe in anything related to Football in Nigeria so i don't take his words serious, not an authority when it comes to rooted local football discussion.

I think Clemens Westerhoff got it right from onset and kick start with local boys cos he resided in Nigeria and was able to discovered a lot of players. Mind you we have enough professional players as at that time, players like Stephen Keshi, Chidi Nwanu, Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavoen, Andrew Uwe, Ademola Adeshina, Peter Rufai, Wilfred Agbonavbare, Dominic Iorfa, Dahiru Sadi, Andrew Uwe, Chris Ohenhen, Mutiu Adepoju, Mike Obiku, Uche Okafor, Efan Ekoku, Rasheed Yekini, Richard Owubokiri, Emma Okocha, Mike Emanelo, Jonathan Akpoborie etc but this did not disturb Westerhoff from looking inwards for good players.

But can Rohr achieve this feat? NO cos we have enough players to pick from outside especially FBs. I think NPFL deserve Rohr attention matter what, may be the league can be rescued.

There is no way he will not see one or two players that can complement his team or just give them necessary exposure. I remember how Thijs Libreght discovered Sunday Johnson and Oluwole Johnson from NPFL and if not for his early exit those guys would have made it.

I remember Sunday Johnson made Sydney 2000 as only outfield home based player, the guy was a combination of Finidi George and Tijani Babaginda.

I know some don't want to hear Keshi's name but he did it with Oboboana,Mba though career wise they are stagnant but he won Afcon with those guys.

Time for Rohr to give us great eagles cos he have enough talents to do it for now with player like Osimhen, Chukwueze, Aribo etc and watching NPFL would raise the status of Nigeria league a little bit.

Such a masterpiece. Thank you for this.

By the way, do you remember what was the reason for the departure of Thijs Libregts? I remember his training session in Nigeria 99 after he took over the team (before our game against Ireland with Robbie Keane and Damien Duff) in crisis from Tunde Disu. He took the players from What is football to the reason why they must pass instead of holding the ball. That brief session was so knowledgeable.

He did not build the team, he took over them in days. Nothing wrong in them losing to a quality Malian side. The Malians had a far better put together team.

Some people did not know that after our loss in the AYC, some players were dropped and that spoilt the coherency of the team. For instance, a player like Emmanuel Aniele.

However, the win against the Irish was memorable and showed the capability of Thijs Libregts.
