TheGoodJoe: When you sit to type what I've emboldened up there, I know you do that with all sense of accomplishment, like you've done something worthy of celebration. Well, that's not the case this time, thank me for bursting your balloons this time, because, everything you've been spitting since yesterday are just a bunch of vague and ambiguous hokum. Which work exactly are you expecting Rohr to do on the local scene? Is it his job to travel round the country scouting every monkey-post football competition looking out for the next Amockachi who he'd then draft immediately to the team? You're OK with Rohr drafting clubless street footballers into the first team? Or wait.. You expect him to go round scouting for gems like the next Oliseh, Finidi, babangida and the rest then look for a way to send them to Europe? I never knew you wanted to retire him from his coaching obligations while turning the old man to a football agent. I expected more from someone who thought football education is important in the desired development of players in this time an age. What's the quality of the tactical knowledge available for these gems to absorb to make the world beaters over here at the home front, Uh? TheGoodJoe? 7 Likes 1 Share |

safarigirl: Chukwuka unuwa is a highly rated play maker in the nigerian league. Heis compared to modric and plays for enyimba even though he used to play for mfm. Incidentally mfm is a good team witg young players. There former coach fidelis illechukwu spots talent. Stephen odey who is now in Belgium used to play for mfm fc 2 Likes |

Philosopher1979: Let us talk about Odey. He is struggling to get games in Belgium. He has several strikers ahead of him and will need a few more years of development to make the super eagles. He needs to overtake: Dessers, Iheanacho, Maja, Sadiq, Onuachu, Osimhen etc. Heck, he could not bench Awoniyi in the under 23s. Yet, someone said the coach should sit in Nigeria to discover talents that still need several years of development to get to a decent level to play for the super eagles. 8 Likes 2 Shares |

Gernot Rohr will not be signing a new contract as Nigeria coach and will depart in June 2020, Opera News understands. Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick stated that talks over a new deal - scheduled for January - will compel Rohr to live in the country and his employers will vet his list of selected players going forward. But another top official has revealed that Rohr would not be prolonging his stay beyond his current deal which expires in six months, adding that reports in the media about a new deal is a smokescreen. "It will take a miracle for Gernot [Rohr] to continue as Super Eagles coach beyond June," a top NFF official confirmed to Opera News. "All the reports in the media about a new contract with stringent clauses is purely a smokescreen. "He's clearly made public statement about the fact that he is allowed to speak to other countries or clubs from 1 January 2020, it will be better for him to start looking at his options now. "Barring any unforeseen circumstances, there is no going back. The working relationship broke down after the last renewal due to a World Cup qualification bonus payment, that was few months before the World Cup." However, Rohr has no intention of cutting short his stint with Nigeria and fully intends having another new two years with the three-time African champions. Despite a deteriorating working conditions as a result of delayed salary payments and contractual violations, the NFF president has revealed that the 66-year-old's potential third phase will include specific clauses to ensure that he respects 'national integrity'. "We are not going to compromise our national integrity again. He must live in Nigeria and can go to Europe two or three times a year," Pinnick was quoted as saying by The Guardian. "He can stay either in Lagos or Abuja, where we are ready to provide a befitting accommodation for him. "Other national teams' coaches live in the countries where they work and ours cannot be different. "I must admit that the last contract was loose in so many areas, but we want to correct that now." Pinnick said Rohr, like every other Nigerian employee, would now be subject to the existing tax regime in the country, adding that the federation was not ready to condone anything that would go against national interest. Back in August 2016, Rohr inherited a team in shambles and had failed to qualify for two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournaments under Stephen Keshi, Sunday Oliseh and caretaker manager Samson Siasia. He navigated the chaos created by his predecessors - beating former African champions Cameroon, Zambia and Algeria in tough qualifying group - to pick a ticket to the 2018 World Cup. He guided the Super Eagles to the tournament in Russia where they failed to make it past the group stage. On the continent his drama-free management style helped Nigeria to a third place finish at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt in July. 1 Like |

Kog45: Such a masterpiece. Thank you for this. By the way, do you remember what was the reason for the departure of Thijs Libregts? I remember his training session in Nigeria 99 after he took over the team (before our game against Ireland with Robbie Keane and Damien Duff) in crisis from Tunde Disu. He took the players from What is football to the reason why they must pass instead of holding the ball. That brief session was so knowledgeable. |

The more I read the more angry I become...someone should note all the people taking sides with the NFf on a sheet of paper...and write all d achievements rohr has made with this team both on and off the pitch so that when d bastard salisu or whoever's they plan to replace rohr with destroys the team...we will know d ppl to point fingers @...all d tax we have been paying, wat have they done with it?... is it rohrs tax dat will improve d economy??... with d quality of improvement in football you guys really believe our local players can hold their own against world class players in a match?... rohr should pick local players to give dem exposure because the national team is an excursion agency??... when will u guys wake d f##k up...??.why is Nigeria so f##king cursed?. Since rohr became our coach...we have been moving up in fifa ranking steadily..steadily...not 5 places up nd 15 places down ..if not for d same local idiots in d wafu nd chan team competitions we would be higher up now....and you ppl are still trying to talk abt including dese incompetent cretins in d SE...... 3 Likes 1 Share |

jihday: He did not build the team, he took over them in days. Nothing wrong in them losing to a quality Malian side. The Malians had a far better put together team. Some people did not know that after our loss in the AYC, some players were dropped and that spoilt the coherency of the team. For instance, a player like Emmanuel Aniele. However, the win against the Irish was memorable and showed the capability of Thijs Libregts. |
