Holding camp meeting to kill perceived enemies. Dr Olukoya should please repent of this evil teachings and forms of prayers before it is too late.

How many witches did our Lord Jesus killed. He died for everybody including witches. I have seen some people involved in witchcraft activities saved by the power of God and they are now preaching the gospel.

Not just MFN. This prayer forms have spread like cancer to other denominations including the RCCG and Salvation Ministries. They are not just consistent with the teachings of our Lord Jesus. We should stop killing perceived enemies through prayers.
Thanks. They have also forgotten that it is unscriptural to pray for the death of ones enemies. Jesus admonished that we forgive, pray and do good to our enemies.

Christmas did not originate from Christ, It has absolutely nothing to do with Christ Jesus. It is pegan feast.

Assuming without conceeding that Christmas originated from paganism, what is wrong with Christians reclaiming the date (25th Dec) for God?!

Was it not God that created 25th Dec and all the 365 days of the year?!!

at the end, you are still saying the same thing you said on Wednesday.

MFM should own their truth with their chest. this rejoinder is so unnecessary.

I can only hope that your church will have the same energy to condemn tithing when the time comes.

Celebrating Christmas or not is not the issue but who is christ is to you.......hv u repented or still living in sin, how do manage the flocks......?. Our problem in Nigeria also Christian's dogmas scripture the best areas it favour our ministry and family business. The old testament sacrifices that your denomination kept till today then jesus christ sacrifice what is to your congregation nothing rather you continue sweeping there brain out from scripture.

Why did they fix it for 25th?

The Date of Christmas

No one knows the real birthday of Jesus! No date is given in the Bible, so why do we celebrate it on the 25th December? The early Christians certainly had many arguments as to when it should be celebrated! Also, the birth of Jesus probably didn't happen in the year 1 but slightly earlier, somewhere between 2 BCE/BC and 7 BCE/BC, possibly in 4 BCE/BC (there isn't a 0 - the years go from 1 BC/BCE to 1!).

Calendar showing 25th December
The first recorded date of Christmas being celebrated on December 25th was in 336, during the time of the Roman Emperor Constantine (he was the first Christian Roman Emperor). But it was not an official Roman state festival at this time.

However, there are many different traditions and theories as to why Christmas is celebrated on December 25th.

A very early Christian tradition said that the day when Mary was told that she would have a very special baby, Jesus (called the Annunciation) was on March 25th - and it's still celebrated today on the 25th March. Nine months after the 25th March is the 25th December! March 25th was also the day some early Christians thought the world had been made, and also the day that Jesus died on when he was an adult. The date of March 25th was chosen because people had calculated that was the day on which Jesus died as an adult (Nisan 14 in the Jewish calendar) and they thought that Jesus was conceived and had died on the same day of the year.

Because of the date, some people say that the Christians 'took over' December 25th from these Roman festivals. However, there are records going back to around 200 of early Christians connecting the Nisan 14 to the 25th March, and so 25th December was a 'Christian' festival date many years before 'Sol Invictus'! (More recent studies have also found that the 'Sol Invictus' connection didn't appear until the 12th century and it's from one scribbled note in the margins of a manuscript. There's also evidence that 'Sol Invictus' might also have happened in October and not December anyway!)

Christmas had also been celebrated by the early Church on January 6th, when they also celebrated the Epiphany (which means the revelation that Jesus was God's son) and the Baptism of Jesus. (Like the December 25th date above, this was based on a calculation of Jesus's death/conception but from the 6th April not the 25th March.) Now Epiphany mainly celebrates the visit of the Wise Men to the baby Jesus, but back then it celebrated both things! Jesus's Baptism was originally seen as more important than his birth, as this was when he started his ministry.

The Jewish festival of Lights, Hanukkah starts on the eve of the Kislev 25 (the month in the Jewish calendar that occurs at about the same time as December). Hanukkah celebrates when the Jewish people were able to re-dedicate and worship in their Temple, in Jerusalem, again following many years of not being allowed to practice their religion.

Jesus was a Jew, so this could be another reason that helped the early Church choose December the 25th for the date of Christmas!

So when was Jesus Born?

There's a strong and practical reason why Jesus might not have been born in the winter, but in the spring or the autumn! It can get very cold in the winter and it's unlikely that the shepherds would have been keeping sheep out on the hills (as those hills can get quite a lot of snow sometimes!).

During the spring (in March or April) there's a Jewish festival called 'Passover'. This festival remembers when the Jews had escaped from slavery in Egypt about 1500 years before Jesus was born. Lots of lambs would have been needed during the Passover Festival, to be sacrificed in the Temple in Jerusalem. Jews from all over the Roman Empire traveled to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, so it would have been a good time for the Romans to take a census. Mary and Joseph went to Bethlehem for the census (Bethlehem is about six miles from Jerusalem).

Today's weather is not the same as 2000 years ago. 1st lesson in Geography is that weather and even climate changes every 30 years or there about.

Celebration of Christmas is remembrance of an event not a date. At least it reawakens consciousness of a 2000 years ago event.

We couldn't go out around this time of the year about 25 years ago.

It is not in the bible that Jesus went to the toilet. Not everything is in the bible. Religion tries to enforce laws, scripture and records while Christ preached liberty; emphasizing that the law is now in our hearts. If our hearts do not condemn us for earmarking a season in remembrance of the greatest act of love, don't condemn us sir. No law can condemn our celebration of the new law.

And both heavens and earth celebrated the day he was born.

Jesus was celebrated at birth how about the gift the 3 wise men brought at his birth I wonder why a lot of people forget that?? And it is Christian-mas meaning Christmas

MiddleDimension:

i was told over the years that jesus was actually born.
i was told his birth was so important, god sent an angel to announce it even before he was concieved, and when he was born, making the statement that god is faithful.
i was told that when he was born, heaven celebrated it in the presence of god when they sang the first christmas carol: "glory to god in thw highest, and peace to men of goodwill.
as for the day, i wasn't told he was born on the 25th of december. i was told we celebrate it on the 25th of december.
for the day again, i was told that jesus gave men the power to make such decisions when he said "whatever you consider bound on earth, is considered bound in heaven
christmas tree, i was told that the earth is of the lord, and the fullness thereof. i was also told in col 1:15-16:“all things were made by him and for him(including trees and materials with which it was made) and in him, all things have their proper places.
for the day again, bible told us to tell you that "...Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day."

so i am really interested how you want to refute these and tell me it is unbiblical. would like to see it.

You're not talking to a lay man.. All this you've written are basic truths..

Question is why did Pope Julius in 350 AD make December 25th Jesus's birthday when it has been widely known for pagan gods worship..

Far back to Nimrod who married his mother Samiramis, self acclaimed queen of heaven.. Nimrod died untimely and mommy-Nimrod had claimed he(Nimrod) had grown into an evergreen tree from a dead stump and left her gifts on December 25th.. That's the origin of Santa clause and christmas tree.

I read an account from "The Force" where Christians were slaughtered in worship of this same Nimrod boy every 25 December.

Mithras, Horus, Attis, Dionysus the son of Zeus,Tammuz, Hercules, Perseus, Helios, Bacchus Apollo, Jupiter, Sol Invictus – (The “Unconquered Sun”)

All this gods were celebrated 25th december

Some say the Pope's reason was to convert pagans to Christianity if the birth of Jesus Christ was celebrated on the same day.

From my findings, these popes were a sect, occultic practices.

2 Cor. 6:15
How can Christ and the Devil agree? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

Jesus commanded what we should do in remembrance of him.. Did he command christmas?

That pope nigga could have chosen any other day.. Why 25 December?

You are reacting after several days, meaning you should have taken your time, analysed the responses. But after reading your reaction, I see no essence of the wait. Every Christian is quite aware that Christmas was not mentioned in the Bible but the fact is that not "being mentioned in the Bible" does not mean some thing is wrong with it.
By the way, you forgot to show us where it is was told we should pray "die by fire" in the Bible!

This one is telling Dr Olukoya to repent from his evil teachings before it is too late?!

There is absolutely nothing you won't read on Nairaland!

Orisirisi something!

Repent doesn't mean to repent from his sinful life. I mean from his wrong forms of prayers which clearly contradicts the teachings of our Lord Jesus.

The very name of the ministry unveils it's wrong foundation. Apostles Paul said,

Hebrews 12:18-24
18 For ye are not come unto the MOUNT THAT MIGHT BE TOUCHED, and THAT BURNED WITH FIRE, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest,

19 And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more:

20 (For they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart:

21 And so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quakesmiley

22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,

23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

notice verse 18 says we have not come unto a mountain that burns with fire. But Dr Olukoya Church is a mountain that burns with fire. His revelation is that of the Old Testament instead of the New Testament.

He is putting new wine in old bottles. We are no longer under the Old Testament. He should please repent and preach the gospel of grace and not of death and condemnation.
