By adopting a single currency, open boarders the other west African countries are looking out for a life independent and less reliant on Nigeria. We have no moral right to scream betrayal -after all we closed our borders without thought to neighbouring countries.
Events across west Africa in the military and economic scene should be worrisome for Nigeria. France and USA have filled the traditional place Of Nigeria as west Africa's most dominant and dependable military power. I hope our government engages more with our neighbors to avoid being surrounded by enemies

Who's this Op? There was no betrayal, if any country feels this new currency is for their glory and their countrymen's, they should go ahead with it. No attaché by force. I believe Nigeria will make the right decision.

As stated before only Togo met convergence criteria for currency after 2 decades. The rest are just yapping. You guys just shoe horn France into conversation so you dont have to talk about your nations inaction. Why not lead the charge by meeting criteria and have togo join instead of wailing? The former CFA countries did three things.
- repatriate foreign reserves from France
- kicked France from monetary board
- changed name of their currency to ECO

Ghana requested:
-Every member member state meet convergence criteria first
- establish central bank
- adopt flexible exchange rate

Im giving facts from articles and press releases on subject. You can believe what ever but can you prove it? The CFA france currency was always pegged to Euro. The cape verde currency is also pegged to Euro but you not alleging Portuguese conspiracy.

Countries like Nigeria going to lead charge by meeting convergence criteria. Then they can have others join them. It's more productive than worrying about France..

That is the only way to prevent the whole thing from crashing down in 2 years all because Ivory Coast and the other 7 french speaking countries have rushed it into implementation without meeting the criteria.

The peg can be removed in 2 years
if everyone meet the criteria within that time frame.

As long as it's pegged to the euro we don't want. Show me one African country that has its country pegged to the euro that is doing better than us. We should be creating economical groups with countries like Brazil, Singapore,India and other nations that got independence around the same time as us and are doing well.
