Finland's new Prime Minister has called for the introduction of a flexible working schedule in the country that would involve a four-day-week and six-hour working day.

Sanna Marin, 34, who is the second youngest head of government in the world said it would allow workers to spend more time with their families.

She said: 'I believe people deserve to spend more time with their families, loved ones, hobbies and other aspects of life, such as culture.

'This could be the next step for us in working life.'

Before Marin became Prime Minister she held a position as the Minister of Transport for Finland.

While in office in that position, Marin advocated for shorter work weeks to improve employee rapport and productivity.

I'm not surprised.

Why?

Because it's a developed economy.

Developed economies pursue higher goals like improving the quality of life of their citizens through education, social welfare program, better working condition, etc compared to developing ones who focus on solving low-end problems like unemployment and poor capital formation.

Abeg leave that jare

When you see a country that knows where it is going, you will know.

When you see a country that has no idea where it so going, you will also know.

Finland is a country that has a masterplan, that knows where it is going! The value they place on its citizens attests to this.

Tell me how they won't be emotional when singing their National Anthem and reciting the National Pledge.

Unlike a country I don't want to mention.

This is what I call Need-based policies. Not making a policy because it's what we see other countries doing. Finland might not be a noisemaker country in the world, reading anything about their lives will tell you how amazing and well-planned out the lives of the Finnish are.

Wow this is interesting.

Meanwhile, in a certain popular black nation in west Africa and so called giant of Africa, workers there work like Elephants and eat like Ants. Working in the nation is as good as modern day slavery. Workers work under unfavourable and harsh working conditions.. Workers work at least 8 hours (8am-4pm) Monday to Friday and some even work Saturdays as well only to get paid as low as 30 to 60k per month.. Their employers will even be acting as if they're doing the employees a favour by using them thoroughly like a total slave. More reason why most employees look way older than their real age. SMH!

That being said, abeg who sabi Finland visa processing procedure make i migrate go there abeg. undecided angry

What many Nigerians won't understand is that those 4 days will most likely be more productive than 2 weeks of the average nigerian civil servant working in the ministry.

Civil servants dont do shit, they are rude, and behave as if thier job is a favour to you.

a system that puts the welfare of its citizenry at the front burner.
come to think of it other lessons here is Marin's mates in Nigeria are busy forming slay idiots, slay witch, slay problem and feminist etc. coming out to fighting and demanding equal rights order than face the battle squarely to prove their worth and ability.
for the males this extra holiday would rather be spent with concubines than their families.
Nigeria a beautiful country but with negatively wonderful creatures. like some would say this country is useless, I stand bold to disagree by the country Nigeria is great and wonderful but the people there in are the useless ones.
