If u sell that land since your family is the youngest you will get the smallest share.

The share u would get, it won't be long till u become homeless. And that's not a smart move.
why will he be homeless? can't he work or will he just sit and be spending money? if that's his mindset; to sit and be eating his share the he better go and register for motherless babies homes now

Besides, it's not certain if you're real or fake, ie posting other people's stories as your own.

Stop been selfish pls. the property that belong to the whole family, you and your sibling are occupying it alone and nobody accused you of anything....now they agreed to sell it, you are crying foul.
Assuming they didn't even wish to sell it, don't you know it will cause problem/crisis later on especially the immediate generation after you; how do you want your children and that of your siblings to share that house when you're all gone? It is far much better for you'll to sell and share now and live in peace and harmony thereafter. Don't let your selfishness lead to crisis pls. Your reason is sentimental.

@ Ops, if u really did n't want any conflicts btw u and ur brothers, and if u surely love ur dad. Then allow them to sell it.
Just ensure they did not cheat ur side in the sharing...

My dear,

The decision is yours, if you have a legal title then no one can force you to sell. But you must be very clear in writing and not verbal only.
Your sibling should also respect your position. I am faced with the same situation with even my brother conniving with RCCG to forcefully make me sell. As we speak right now, we are in court over the issue because RCCG has forcefully taken my property and they are running a school on my property in Mushin. Please get a lawyer immediately. Do it all with wisdom. May God guide you through it all

Noo, you are wrong. It's not a useless man that have children from different women.
It's biblical, it's Islamic and our African traditions permit it.
Moreover, it is natural.
How the individual that is involved in polygamous handle his team is what makes the difference.

I know a man with six children from the same womb who fought very dirty on their father properties in the present of their mother.

There is another man that died and left behind, 16 children from 3 women . With many properties and without a will.
For the past 12years the man died, his estate has been running well without any friction from any one among the wives and children.

How a man lives with his family when alive and prosperous make a big impact when he is no more.

There is no need for someone castigating a man because he is polygamous.

Monogamy is a custom of a certain people. It's good for those who can practice it.

My advice for this OP is to let the majority carry the day.
Start planning your life now.
Let the peace and tranquillity you said is running among your siblings continue.
Re: Can I Be Forced To Sell My Inheritance? by Kolabalogun(m): 1:46pm On Jan 08, 2020
As per what I'm seeing concerning the angle you are talking from. One of the reason I sensed is that of the house being a legacy but most people don't care about that no more. Imagine if your Dad is alive, will they come in the name of money to sell his house. No! Just try and see the worth of the place and see if you can do something meaningful in case they sell and share the money to avoid story that touches the heart. Please be very careful and warn your supporters as well. Life is more or less a thug of war

I may need clarification on something. It your dad's house belonging to 4 pillars. Three want it sold while one didn't, the three carries the day except
1. the house can be equally shared, like there are 4 flats or eight rooms. In this case court can rules that the rooms/flat be shared;
2. the three changed their stand on selling, which is the best route. But how?

Before how, what is the current situation. What is the building structure and purpose for building it? If your father built it like a family house with each wife/children having their room, I do not think they can sell the whole building without the consent of at least the eldest of your mother's children or your mother.

To me I think the main reason must have been that you and your siblings (1 pillar) is enjoying the benefits that all of you (4 pillars) should be enjoying. Even though they are not living there, if the house is leased/rent/sold, they will get their FAIR share of the building. It is fair that they have a fair benefit to the building. If part of the house is used for renting, it should be assumed that all the apartments are used for renting in sharing the rent proceeds. Such that the estimated rent value of the section you occupied will be deducted from your share of overall benefits. If there is excess, they give to you and if there is shortfall it is either they forgo it or ask you to bring in the balance.

My advice in all cases of family properties is never to go legal. Be fair, persuade and encourage them to see your side of argument. In this case your stand will always be seen as being bias as you and your brother will benefit most if the house is not sold.

I wish you the best.

Good day all,

It's pretty simple, can I be forced to sell my inheritance?

My late pop passed away 4 years ago, he had 11 surviving children from 4 wives, me and my younger brother were the last kids from the last wife...

He left a house in Lagos which we presently reside in but in recent times it's been the topic of sale by other siblings.... our stance remain 'NO SELLING'

Additional info

1-Me and my bro are in our early and mid 20's,we live in one of the apartments

2-The remaining siblings all have families of their own outside Lagos

3- Money is obviously the Motive for selling, but its emotional and psychological for us, dunno if this count, but id also add that my younger brother is a 'son of the soil"here, schooled here and erythane before pop passed, 3 of the siblings have never been here before. Older folks call popman "Baba Shade" we only met at the burial...

We had a Family meeting/reunion mid last year and the house was thrown in a debate, while majority of my siblings choose to sell the house, me, my brother and our eldest brother(2nd born) were against selling...

However, my elder bros and i spoke on new year day and i got to know his stance had changed concerning no selling, he cited heavy pressure from other siblings and he is very tired. And maybe he needs money too...

Which prompted my creation of the thread and asking "can our house be sold without our consent" considering we are in the minority for team "no selling"

Can we be forced to sell? despite having no intentions to do so, and how does the legal system cover for us...

N/B- there is no discord or fight or anything among siblings, we all live in peace and contact mostly through phone calls sometimes.....

You better sell before they start praying over you or consulting IFA. The minds that need money during NEXT LEVEL period will do anything.
As a parent, if you have inheritance that can not be distributed equally, just sell and share the money with the kids. Go and build your own legacy.

funny I know everywhere in mushin, I was brought up there before japaing, lol...

I will try to reason with my people on why not to sell and if it's still sell, then I will make sure we get what's due us...

On one condition tho, people who wants to sell the property will state so with video evidence.. .

Re: Can I Be Forced To Sell My Inheritance? by DJInfluence: 2:31pm On Jan 08, 2020
From your write up, seem your dad didn´t leave a will. In which case all children have equal right to the house. Since some want to sell while others doesn´t, the best solution is to get an evaluation of what the house is worth. Divide this by 11 and pay off those that want to sell.

The fact that you and your sibling lives in the house doesn´t give you more right to it. This is the logical thing to do, because some family member can go to any lenght to get their way. So to keep the peace, you may have to pay off those that want to sell.

HOO-PEE.. He be like say you dont like yourself. when it comes to property in polygamous home, you have to be very careful o. If you dont want to lose your life or dont want to end up in assylum as mad and mentally derail person, pls leave them and let them do what they agreed on. People are very wicked and when it comes to property, they can go extra mile to do harm to another, be it spiritually or physically. I no what my family suffered after my fathers demise. He married two wives and my mother being the second. Just that we living in one of the flat of my fathers house, my other sibling from another mother insist we leave the apartment so that the sharing can be equal. We were doing strong head until they start their evil ways. Attack every where spiritually. It is by Gods grace that am still living today cos they tried all means to get rid of me spiritually but baba God no gree for them. Though my sister is still ill with insanity and not getting better yet. Our findings show that she was attacked spiritually cos of the property issue. See things are happening. Forget the fact that your other siblings are good people, The bible said the heart of men are desperately wicked.U cant read it.
My advice, If you want to enjoy your life in peace and you want to grow old, pls let them to whatever they want to do..Sebi if they sell, they will give you your own share, so let it be bro.You are still young and still got life ahead of you. Work hard so you can have your own property and those property will not bother you. pls be careful o.. This life na jeje o. My 2cent

Leave the past to be in the past, do not go through this route on another person's property even though the person is your biological father. Just hustle like your father and get your own house, fear for your life and future, do not trust anyone when it concerns money and valuable properties. Who knows whether it was because of your moving that prompted the selling suggestion. Whatever it is that make them advocate strongly for selling that property just after you moved in, may grow to suggesting eliminating you or render you useless for life. I know you know beyond those words... trend carefully and not confrontational but diplomatically.

Don't kill yourself on "ogún" (20%), get yourself things of your own "ọgọrun" (100%"wink and have peace of mind.
