My dear the fact remains that Govnor Wike doesn't want to pay the minimum wage. A man who refused to increase salary, give promotion and even common December Bonus he refused for almost 6 years in office wouldn't like to add up to 14k to our salary in the name of minimum wage. That man is mean, very mean.

Minimum wage negotiations: Labour soft-pedals as 15 states miss Dec 31 deadline
Published January 3, 2020

No fewer than 15 states have yet to conclude negotiations on the new minimum wage two days after the deadline the organised labour gave governors to sign agreements with their workers.

Rivers workers, govt at loggerheads over consequential adjustments

In Rivers State, labour and the state government have yet to reach an agreement on the minimum wage for civil servants.

State NLC Chairperson, Beatrice Itubo, told one of our correspondents that although the state government had agreed to pay the N30,000 minimum wage, the issue of consequential adjustments had not been sorted out.

Itubo disclosed that the state government and labour would meet on Monday to iron out the issue of consequential adjustments.

She said, “We are still discussing. We have come with our position and they (Rivers State Government) have also come with their position. So, we are back to the drawing board and by January 6, I want to believe that we are going to come up with a truce.

“They (state government) didn’t argue about the N30,000 minimum wage. Where the argument is coming from is the consequential adjustment. The issue of the minimum wage is a no-go-area.”

Gov Wiked does not have the mind to add any money to Civil servants salary. Very greedy governor. Left for him alone, even the wage bill should be for his personal use.

TUC for crucial meeting over minimum wage
Published January 8, 2020

Olufemi Atoyebi, Abuja

Leaders of the Trade Union Congress are expected to meet with state councils in Lagos on Wednesday and Thursday to review the minimum wage compliance in the states.

On Tuesday, the Nigeria Labour Congress met for several hours in Abuja where they analysed the reports of the minimum wage compliance.

The new wage structure was signed into law by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on April 18, 2019, while both the Federal Government and organised labour agreed on consequential adjustments on October 18, 2019, after negotiations.

After the agreement between the FG and labour, negotiations shifted to states, with the NLC directing its state leaders to commence negotiations with their governors.

The body said negotiations must be completed on December 31, 2019.

The PUNCH reported on Friday that no fewer than 15 states had yet to conclude negotiations on the N30,000 new minimum wage two days after the expiration of the deadline, which labour gave governors to sign agreements with their workers.

Investigations by The PUNCH showed that Ekiti, Cross River, Benue, Gombe, Osun, Sokoto, Oyo, Niger, Ogun, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, Kwara, Taraba and Anambra states had not agreed on the consequential adjustments of salaries as a result of the new minimum wage.

On Thursday, labour directed its state councils to complete all negotiations before its meeting in January.
It also soft-pedalled on sanctions against states that failed to meet the deadline.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Monday, the National Chairman of the Joint Negotiating Council, Abulrafiu Adeniji, said state governments had had enough time and that labour would soon meet to review their compliance level.

Also on Monday, the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said on Channels TV that only 10 states had completed negotiations over the new wage structure.

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, the Secretary General of the TUC, Origi Musa-Lawal, said they would commence full review of the minimum wage compliance in Lagos today.

He said, “We are bringing leaders from the states to Lagos to discuss all issues that affect workers. The minimum wage will be part of the discussions. There is no way that we will not discuss it. It is the issue on the ground, so we cannot ignore it.

“We want to receive reports from the states. This will help us to plan our strategy to make the state governments comply.”

He added, “The National Action Council and Central Working Committee meeting of the TUC will hold on Wednesday while the National Executive Council meeting that will involve all leaders will hold on Thursday. It will review situation in every state.”

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the NLC, Emmanuel Ugboaja, told our correspondent through a text message that they had been analysing reports from states.

up till now Rivers State workers are yet to know the percentage to expect for their minimum wage, when it would be paid and so on as Beatrice itubo has suddenly gone dump on the issue. Chai! Governor Wike you are really mean. After 15th of this month, the expectation for minimum wage for the month of January will be "over the bar".

Gov Wike is a very greedy man. He is not even happy paying us salary. He only want to satisfy himself alone and no one is important to him. He is trying to stop EFCC from investigating his government, what is he hiding?

States are responding positively to 21 days deadline given to them which will expired by 31st of this month. https://www.legit.ng/1291707-minimum-wage-state-governors-deadline-trade-union.html , Rivers state will not be exceptional.

I hard that we may even receive our minimum wage arrears this month. It will be a huge embracement that state like Sokoto, Kastina e.t c started payment of minimum wage, while Rivers state is visited with strike action.

So far it's only Federal government, Kaduna state and Lagos state that has paid minimum wage, other state just consented to start this month. Am seeing Rivers state paying this month, and will pay even before the others state whom have agreed to pay this month.

What is holding Rivers state to join in the broadcast of paying this month is the consequential adjustment, which I heard that state chapter of labour presented about 43%, which the state government didn't agree.

But last last, Rivers state consequential adjustment will be above that of Federal government standard, maybe second or third, after that of Kaduna and Lagos.

BREAKING!!! Jubilation As Gov. Umahi Pays New Minimum Wage To Ebonyi Civil Servants on 10th January

It was all joy for Ebonyi Civil Servants in the capital city of Ebonyi, Abakaliki today as queue was observed in all the the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) within Abakaliki as jubilating workers were observed to be carrying out transaction after early morning alerts of their January salaries which the Governor, Engr. David Nweze Umahi FNSE FNATE ordered their payment to effect the new minimum wage of N30,000.

With this, it's crystal clear that Ebonyi has taken the lead in the states that aligned with the Federal Government and Nigeria Labour Congress agreement for the new minimum wage of 30,000 Naira.

Recall that Governor Umahi on his last 2019 EXCO meeting promised that workers in Ebonyi State will start receiving the new minimum wage, effective January 1st, 2020, a promise which he further confirmed when he directed the State Accountant General and LGAs Chairmen to seek for overdraft and ensure the payment of Ebonyi workforce, the January salaries which must reflect the new minimum wage on January 10th to enable them start the new year with ease.

Just this morning, the promise and directive came alive as several civil servants were cruising to their banks and ATMs for their transactions.

Truly, a visit to any ATM machine in Abakaliki today will without doubt send the message of joy and appreciation in the hearts of Ebonyians to Governor Umahi for always putting smiles on their faces at the right time.

Ebonyians are celebrating Governor Umahi.

Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Media
