Good evening nairalanders. please I would appreciate it if I'm given a detailed breakdown of what it would cost to open an run a filling station.
also someone a friend advised that franchising would be good I would be operating with a branded name. so which independent oil marker in Nigeria is the best for franchise.

My location is Abakaliki Ebony state. I will also like to know how many tankers I call sell on an average per month in a place like Abakaliki.
thanks.

most marketers have to pay bribes to get their tankers get fuel.. Most filling stations you see around are contacted by businessmen without filling stations but have their way with the union and possibly hire or have their tankers. They buy fuel and sell to friends with filling stations without fuel and pay commissions. I will advise you join IPMAN in your state chapter, get connected before you start building a filling station or else you may hate yourself for bad investment

1. This enquiry cannot be solved until you map out five major filling stations in abakaliki to get different opinions from the managers of this filing stations

2. Make a call to oando, Mobil, and total marketing departments to get the criteria to operating a franchise deal with them

3. The business is more of field knowledge, u can’t get your answers online in sincerity so you have to do point 4 very important

4. Find the IPMAN office of abakaliki zone to have a moment with like minded filing station owners and share toughts

5. Ask deeper questions about how many trucks get sold within two weeks in abakaliki on the average. Truth is building a filing station is all about strategic location.

6. In abakaliki, 50M should build you a very standard one. More importantly getting bulk purchase agreements, dpr lisence is very important here. Lots of certificates like pressure testing , etc will be involved.

My humble advise

my advice for u is try to employ fine fine girls as station attendant o.. girls that would always smile at you while filling your tank.

the type of girls that will greet you with a smile.
not the one that will just say "how much fuel" without even smiling at you.

please don't employ plenty boys as fuel attendant o.. I know of what I am saying...if you want to attract plenty costumers.. employ fine fine girls..

fuel attenders are the devils to falling a fuel station.. Be very observant and install CCTV in your station. Don't hesitate to fire any for misconduct

And how much is the profit on one full tanker?

Depends on the volume of the tank... Some carry 33,000 litres while others carry more... Just multiply the profit per litre by the number of litres, shikena.

Go for gas plant instead of fuelling station. My humble opinion.

Please throw more lights on gas plants business for me, such as the intricacies and downtime of the business. And also how profit oriented it is..

You cannot get a free and reliable information from here. I am privy to the info you want but I cannot disclose it freely here and no other serious business owner will do that, so give that guy you rejected his offer for a private meeting a listening ear.

Info like this you are seeking are hardly gotten free on air, this is someone's business secret you want spread openly knowing how good Nigerians are in photocopying business idea until the business sector is oversaturated and ruined for all

NNPC sell PMS to independent marketers @133.50 - #136.50 per liter and you as a marketer sell for #145 per liter.. That's a profit of ~#10 per litre... If you have a tanker of 35,000 litres, you make a profit of #350,000.. Lucrative right? U have to pay your workers, buy diesel for your generator and miscellaneous cost... All boils done if you can get at least supply of fuel alteast 4times in a month.... To counter all this, join their union, be ready to bribe, don't involve in their union politics, be neutral to all parties involve and support them all financially, then you enjoy your business.

Many scammers and kidnappers are here. Beware of who you contact or meet.

No matter how juicy or true it sounds, its mostly bollocks.

Real Legit people will barely share information with you because they don't want competition. The industry is almost saturated.

Please can you tell me more about this?
GeoAfrikana:
EFF filling station, EFF hotels!!!

If I have your type of money today here's what I'll do;

I'll purchase one hectare of farmland in one remote part of Osun or Oyo. I'll ensure that the land has a stream close to it and cattle rearers don't graze around the area*.

Then I'll build hundreds of langstroth bee hives and install. Honey money is sweet money.

It's depends on the storage capacity of the filling stations firstly, whether you are selling only petrol, diesel or kerosene.
Get a franchise agreement 1st before applying for DPR licence for your filling station, most major franchise have specification for small, medium and large filling station.
Since your filling station will be in Ebony, I advice you look at major franchise will tank farm either in Cross River or River state. This will make supply of product to you easy and timely too.
