tbaba1234:Odegbami didn't say Yobo should be appointed the team coach straightaway..he said that should be after be has undergone the necessary training... As in he wants the NFF to sponsor Yobo for a training course to prepare him to take charge of the super Eagles.. |

Alex Iwobi has posted an injury update that will certainly please Everton and Super Eagles fans, allnigeriasoccer.com reports. The Nigeria international has not played a competitive match for the Toffees since suffering a hamstring injury in the opening minutes of the goalless draw against Arsenal on December 21. Iwobi has not been available for selection for as many as five games - against Burnley, Newcastle United, Manchester City and Brighton & Hove in the Premier League and Liverpool in the FA Cup. Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti suggested that the injury will keep the Nigerian sidelined for three weeks and it appears his recovery went according to plan as he has started individual training at USM Finch Farm. Writing on Instagram, Iwobi said : "Back Soon". Before Iwobi's injury-enforced absence, he had played 20 matches in all competitions, scoring two goals, following his deadline day move from Arsenal last summer. Everton, who are 11th in the standings after 22 games, travel to West Ham United in their next Premier League match. |

Super Eagles can be the No 1 team in Africa under Gernot Rohr if the coach is offered a new long-term contract, according to former Nigeria star Victor Ikpeba. Rohr’s contract with the Eagles runs out in June and from this month he is free to discus with other teams. However, Ikpeba said the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will do well to give the Franco-German coach a new deal based on what he has so far achieved with the team. “We’re still not the best team in Africa, but we have made some progress under Rohr, who has pushed his youthful team to play at the World Cup and finish third at the AFCON,” he argued. “We now need to give him a long-term deal so that he can continue the good work he has started.” Rohr first took charge of Nigeria in 2016, before the contract was extended till 2020. This year, Nigeria will continue the quest to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon as well as kick-start their campaign for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. |

Subzero047:Because he is human.. Is it so wrong for an ex international to coach the national team ? Didn't Keshi and Siasia achieve success with the national team when they were in charge? Some of the most successful national teams in the world are being coached by ex internationals.. |

Danielnino00:nobody is saying he shouldn't coach the SE but he needs to prove he can do it, it's wrong for anybody to even suggest his name, on what basis? What has he done? Keshi coached U-20, Togo and Mali's NTs. Siasia handled U-20 and U-23 even Chukwu handled Kenya and used to be assistant to either Bonfree or Westerhof. The NT job isn't to be used as a training ground for anybody. |

I am shocked that someone like Segun Odegbami should be making such a recommendation. Do people understand the level of responsibility attached to being the coach of a national Team? It goes beyond being a pundit o |

Danielnino00:Daniel, you're still not getting this whole gist. They want him to lead the SE to Qatar. That he has topnotch qualities namely " emotional intelligence" and humility. Pls how does that make him the best? If its about ex internationals taking over, we have a handful way ahead of Yobo and very experienced. See lets follow due process, we always cry.... Even if Yobo gets a EFL job tomorrow, i will still prefer those that have already passed that road. Dude has no experience. Siasia and Keshi had basketful of experience. Only then can we consider him.... Besides, these old men recommending him, bypassing the others, i need what they're smoking. They dont have the interest of SE and Nigerian football at heart.... Yobo!!! Make we Kukuma choose Mikel or Oshaniwa or Olofinjana na.... |

Emmanuel Amunike will be a good option. He has a Uefa coaching licence and has coached Julius Berger, Ocean Boys (in Nigeria) Al Khartoum (in Sudan) Our u-17 in 2015 where they emerged victorious and he even discoverd Victor Osimhen and Samuel chukwueze Also he qualified Tanzania to the world cup and so we should try him next. He has at least demonstrated some coaching competence |

Danielnino00:It is not even an issue of "ex-international" I don't even care whether who is in charge is an ex-international or not. All we need is results. Keshi, before coaching Nigeria took Togo to the 2006 WC and also took Mali to the 2010 AFCON. He had a good national team experience on the continent before being offered the SE job. Siasia had coached the U20 Team in 2005 and U23 in 2008, winning the U20 AFCON and winning Silver medals each at the respective world tournaments. He also coached the U20 Team in 2009. So Siasia was proven at youth level before we attempted to give him the opportunity as the Senior National Team coach What has Yobo done since after retiring from the SE? |
