If you have a blog, product or service and you are not getting enough traffic to convert to sales, there is probably something you are not doing right. But there is a solution to that. First of all, you have to make sure you have a blog that is fully customized, optimized and monetized.

Secondly, make sure you are publishing regular and high quality content on your blog. You cannot succeed online by running your business by fits and starts. No! The competition on the internet is killing and you must be ahead of the game to stand out.

Decision Determines Destiny

Some years back, I took the decision to quit my day job and become self-employed. I was even walking on an unfamiliar terrain i.e. to start my own business online. With the benefit of hindsight, I have come to realize that decisions we take either move us forward or draws us backward.

It is the first thing to know as a webmaster, blogger or merchant so that you can prepare yourself to make money online from them. There are millions of websites on the World Wide Web competing and trying to sell the same or similar products and services to the same market. Unless you’re different or unique in your business, you may not be able to close sales successfully.

Online shoppers mainly use search engines such as Google.com to find products or information. But they can also follow a link sent by a friend, family or colleague to come to your website. Unfortunately, only websites on the first page of Google.com have a chance to receive highly targeted visitors to their websites. How many times do you click on page 2 of Google to find something to buy?

Let’s assume a potential buyer wants to buy designer bags. First, he will enter the brand word or keyword or search term that best describes what he is looking for. I will answer your domain name question here. You can be creative about domain name based on your choice. For example, Google.com is not an English word but a creative. These types of domains are called brandable domain names. You need huge advertising funds to make these types of domain to be popular.

The other common type of domain is keyword domain. You can use keyword tool to find a keyword in your market and check if the domain name is available to register. More often than not, it will not be available because other online business owners have gone ahead of you. For example, I cannot register Business.com because it is out of my reach to buy. What did I do next. I checked possible domain names I can register with "business" as a keyword in it. So, I settled for BusinessDoer.com. This is a domain name I own which I intend to use for a mega blog sometime in the future.

The way to go, if you cannot register an exact match domain (EMD), then pick a keyword and add a descriptive word to it. For instance, I buy and sell domain names. Some years back now, I wanted to register PassiveIncome.com but it was not available. I went ahead to register  PassiveIncomeHub.com. I only added the word "hub" to it and somewhere down the road, I sold it for about $260 or so for a domain I only invested less than $10 to register.

The advantage of having keyword in your domain name is to make the promotion of your website or blog easier when you optimize your site. That is all for now.
