I say this because even in Awolowo's time who was born in 1909, it was not a thing. Awolowo's wife was married at the age of 26 years. This is a woman born in 1915 or so.
My grandfather, a man of means with over 20 wives never married someone less than 18 years old. Neither did any of his numerous children. His first grandchild is same age group as my parent, and neither did even any of his progeny try such.
