The Enugu State Government has banned the sale and distribution of water by water tankers and other vendors from unauthorized sources in the state “particularly the IBUSA Street Water/Stream in Independence Layout, Enugu”.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, stated that the ban was in furtherance of the commitment of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration to protect the health and safety of residents of Enugu.

Aroh added that the state government has consequently directed all relevant agencies in the health and environment sectors to ensure strict compliance with the directive and arrest, impound and prosecute, in line with extant laws, any tanker driver or water vendor who violates the order.

The commissioner, therefore, maintained that the state government remains committed to the provision of clean and healthy water in Enugu metropolis and the entire state.

I noticed that the taste of pure water has changed. Everybody just dey open pure water factory. Aquarapha is the safest.

The greatest problem of Enugu and it's environ is water. This governor should know that.

This man is talking as if he didn't use 1 bucket of water to bath for 2 days.

Back then in Enugu, some days we just wash our legs, hands, and face. Rub cream and wear our clothes.

We didn't care where tankers bring the water from. As long as we have water in our drums, it's fine.


He shouldn't stop people's business, biko.

Most businesses in Nigeria are only interested in profit making and do not consider the health status of the people in general. An igbo man once said to me that he is only interested in making huge money and does not care who dies during the process .

When NAFDAC made it difficult to register products......this is what to expect.....but if some conditions are dropped and it's made easier for small scale businesses to register their product......road side production will be controlled and monitored.....those in remote villages won't even adhere to this law so for me .......it's waste of time

Nice move by Enugu government, a lot of viruses are been spread out this days courtesy of what we eat and drink, so banning unapproved water supply is more or less like preventing outbreak of any yeye disease . Some idiots won't like the move tho like one guy above me and the one beneath me

If he used the monies used for erecting signboards to expand water supply through Enugu state water corporation this would not be an issue here.
Government fail in its duties then turn around to blame the citizens who try to help themselves.
Sullivan Chime whom this bufoon of a governor succeeded reactivated pipe borne water supply in Enugu but this governor has done nothing to improve on Sullivan's efforts.
Enugu, you must endure your choice of a visionless and clueless man as a governor.
