millennium2012:How much dividend will they pay. Time is almost around when dividend payment will be true determinant of company EPs. Not always on pipeline, pipeline need to break to let the dividend out. Some are found of moving up, and reversing back, moving up with the improvement on EPs news and moving backward with news of bad debt. |

Mcy56:Another Noobish question of mine. So, In my bid to consolidate my understanding after skimming through a few books on stocks I downloaded the last FBNH annual report dated 2018. These books keep mentioning the true worth of a company vs its market cap as a measure. Ok, FBNH total equity as at December 2018 is about 530 billions, while market cap as at yesterday is about 249 billions. Does it mean that FBNH stocks are very very underpriced at this moment and as a result make for a good entry? Or am I missing something here? Thanks in advance. ![]() |

ositadima1:Jump In Jump Out Nsempa's word for making quick gains, especially during panic-selling or bull period. The gain could range btw 10% to 30%, or 40% as the case may be. People sometimes sell in panic for different reasons, ranging from poor results, economy news, etc, but you may know that there's nothing wrong with the fundamental of the stock; you watch the dumping, jump in at the bottom price then sell at short gain. This could even be within a day. You buy and sell back with some profits. Also this can be sweet during bull season. That's what I know. ![]() |

ositadima1:Your observation is right and I really like your spirit. What you have described is the book value of first bank which is one of numerous ways of determining a company worth. When I started my stock investment, that was what I was using to determine if a company is undervalue or overvalue. I have grown to using different metrics to place value on a particular stock and the most important one for me now is owners profit-the bottom line . Keep learning and searching and with experience you will get better but don't put too much emphasis on book value in placing a bet on stocks on NSE. ![]() |
