I think this is one area we really need to talk about, I have noticed this a lot in the society.
There are 2 types of single mothers.

1. The one that has her money with a thriving Business or Career EG Linda, Lilian Esoro etc
2. The one who had no plan for her life before hand.

You see the second category is really going through hell, If you visit Lagos Clubs Cubana, Escape etc. You will shocked how many of those pretty ladies hanging every where are single mothers trying to just survive for their kids. Marrying them means you are very financially capable & willing to accept the existing child as your own.

That's why i keep advocating for Nigerian Women to not only ZIP UP, but to also work hard to have their own money before marriage or relationship. Just because your Husband has money doesn't mean he will give you a DIME.

OP, I think it will be unfair to attribute her character to being a single mum. There are so many single mums out there, who are very hardworking, caring, and devoted to their marriage without hearing such stories, hence, it boils down to the individual irrespective of their status.

I'd suggest you have a heart-to-heart talk with your wife and let her know how bad you feel about the whole thing. If she doesn't have a job, please both of you should hunt for job for her or you can even start up a business for her, if you have the resources.

Find out who her friends are and watch if they influence her badly. Again, it would be nice if you can find a place in your heart to accommodate her child and love him/her like your own. This will definitely help too! But if you aren't cool with having the child in your home then open up to her and let her know.

I'm not referring to those who became single mums from natural circumstances. But those girls who came about that status by living a wayward life. Which was why I made mention of single girls zipping up.
I can never speak so of a woman who became a single mum as a result of losing her husband ( widow) or her marriage. So I dont know what your argument is all about.
