CHAPTER ONE

Ifeanyi had coming in from the next village just to wait for Nne because they had agreed meeting at their usual spot; it was very dark and he constantly checked his android phone to see the time. He suddenly heard footsteps, luckily it was Nne, he smiled brightly as she moved closer and kissed him
“How are you” she asked
“I’m fine... what took you so long” he asked
“Sorry, I had to do some cleaning in the kitchen with my mother”
“So how was your day” he asked
“Was just boring” she said
“How come”
“You know na” she said
“I don’t know” he replied
“This village is too uncivilised... sometimes I wish I never came back here maybe I should have just remained in Port Harcourt” she said
“It’s okay, don’t worry I will soon come and marry you” he smiled and she does same then kissed him; suddenly they heard movements in the bushes, he looked around
“Did you hear that?” she asked
“Yes... don’t worry, it’s probably one of those night animals” he said then kissed her neck and suddenly a spear travelled quickly in the darkness and straight into Nne’s head, the force pushed her to the ground in the direction the spear was travelling, with the spears piercing out from the other side of her as blood flowed out uncontrollably; Ifeanyi was terrified and speechless as he looked at the love of his life lying dead like an animal killed by a hunter; four men come out of the bushes; Ifeanyi angrily attacked one of them but the over power him and suddenly one stroke his head with an iron rod and his head collides with the bark of a tree. Ifeanyi falls to the ground weak
“You all will regret this... you will pay” he said as blood came out of his mouth; one of the men flashed a torchlight to his face
“Nobody can do anything about this” he said then another slammed the rod on his head again, this time the iron rod slammed his head against the tree and there was an outburst of thick blood
“You, Cut of her breast and eyes... You, take out his heart” a man instructed, and after they were done they dropped their bodies beside the road...

Lagos, Nigeria
9:30am
The phone was ringing for the fifth time but Ikenna had refused to pick the call but instead rolled in the comfort of his bed and covered his head with a pillow; the call kept coming like the caller monitored him, he angrily got up and picked up the phone and without look at the caller he answered the call
“Hello” his face tightened as he lay lazily on the bed
“Agent, we need you at the headquarter immediately” a voice said, he quickly sat up then looked at the caller to see ‘General Jide’, luckily he had not used some abusive language like he loved doing
“I’ll be there shortly” he got up, had his bath and dressed in black shirt and black trouser, took his phone and left the house in a Range Rover

Ikeja, Nigeria
A red range rover enters the premises and parked amongst other cars, Ikenna stepped out and headed for the large building. The large hall had men and women walking, all dressed in suits. Ikenna gets in front of a barricade, he pulls out his ID card and slides it through an opening, the barricade separated and he does passed it
“Hey Agent Silas” a security personnel called out
“Hey Marcel what’s up” Ikenna responded
“I’m good... congratulations on your latest award” Marcel said
“Thanks man” Ikenna entered into an elevator
This elevator takes him to the 7th floor of the building; he stepped out into a passage, walked down the passage, passed various doors then entered into an office labelled “General Jide”. In there were three persons with the General, they all looked at him as he entered
“Hey Ikenna, long time” Mark smiled; Mark was Ikenna’s top handler
“Mark what’s up it’s been a while, thought you got fired” Ikenna joked as they shook hands
“I wish I was man, this job gets terrible by the day” Mark said, Ikenna chuckled as he walked towards the General
“Agent silas” General Jide called out as he walked close
“Morning sir” he saluted, General Jide stretches his arm for a hand shake and Ikenna received it
“I’d like you to meet Colonel David Obinna and Lieutenant Scott Brown”
“Nice to meet you” Ikenna shakes hands with them
“Heard a lot about you” Colonel David said with a smile
“The only thing people tell about me is that I like women” Ikenna said
“Please have your seat gentle men” general Jide sat, Colonel David and Lt. Scott sat down as the General did but Ikenna stood with folded his arms; Mark stood beside the General
“Agent Silas, there is an important assignment for you in Owerri” General said
“I’m all ears” Ikenna replied and General Jide continued
“Colonel David and Lt. Scott are based in Owerri and over the past years there have been reports of people going missing mysteriously; sometimes human parts are found or bodies mutilated. We have sent 4 Agents there but all 4 have gone missing and till date we have no idea what happened to them; everyone is confused, I believe there is a whole lot of dirty secret going on in that community, presently two persons were killed, a male and a female”
“And which community is this sir?” Ikenna asked with arms still folded
“Orodo! Under Mbetolu local government
“You said four Agents have gone missing” Ikenna said
“Yes”
“So you want me to go missing too” Ikenna said and Mark laughed, General Jide looked at him and the smile disappeared
“Agent quit the jokes” General said
“Jokes? We’re talking about mystery here sir” Ikenna said
“Silas you are the best Agent the Nigerian CIA has in its history, and you are up for this”
“Ok then let’s see what it’s like in Owerri” Ikenna said
“Good, you have a new identity and an undercover car”
“It’s beginning to sound really good”
“Your new name will be Julius Caesar” Mark said operating a laptop on the General’s table
“Seriously? Of all names?
“Your new car would be a 1996 Toyota camary” Mark said
“Are you trying to sound funny?” Ikenna asked
“Of cause not” Mark said
“It’s to put you under guise Agent” general said
“And finally, Lt. Scott has had a house prepared for you; a small bungalow with two rooms and a parlour”
“Hope you got some sweet girls down there” Ikenna said to Lt. Scott
“And less I forget, Agent stay away from women” general said
“Sir you know I can’t take that order”
“If you want to come back alive leave their women alone” General Jide said
“I hear Owerri has got elegant ladies littered all over the place, is that true?” Ikenna asked
“yes it is” Scott replied
“God Damn it General, I’m in” Ikenna said
“We have opened a new account for you and in it is 5million... that should sustain you for the period... I do not know how long you will spend out there, here is your ATM card, Mark will give you the pin” General Jide hands him an Atm card
“Lt. Scott will take you to the house when you arrive at Owerri” General said
“I guess we are good to go” Ikenna said
“Your Flight leaves tomorrow morning by 7:00”...

Owerri, Imo state
Ikenna stepped out of the airport with a small luggage; Lt. Scott standing outside by a car waiting, Ikenna looks around then walked to him
“Welcome to Imo State” Scott said
“Thank You” Ikenna replied as they shake hands
“It’s a beautiful state” Scott said
“I hope so” Ikenna said; interestingly Ikenna was from Imo state but had never been to his state before, he was brought up in Lagos and doesn't even know how to speak his native language, just English.
They both entered the Toyota Camary and Lt. Scott help put the bag in the booth where two large lead suit cases laid
“I can’t believe this car would be mine... it’s so ancient” Ikenna said
“This is brand new” Scott said
“Maybe Brand new has another meaning... this car doesn't even exist again, where the hell did you guys get this car?” he questioned, Scott smiled then started the car and drove off...

‘’There seems to be lots of forest around here’’
“It’s a part of its beauty... the forest is beautiful and peaceful” Scott said
“Hmmmm”
“How long have you been in the army?” Ikenna asked
“6 years straight”
“I know life in the army can be shit” Ikenna said
“(chuckles) it depends”
“Common man, I have experience remember?”
“Life in the Nigerian army can be complicated... it could be terrible”
“Especially in the north” Ikenna said
“I’m here in the east because of the Biafra boys”
“You’re lucky” Ikenna said
“You have no idea’’ Scott replied with a smile
After driving for hours they arrived at Orodo; Lt. Scott parks the car in front of a small bungalow; a mango tree stands to the right of the large compound; the compound lacked a fence and gate; a thick forest stands behind the house, even the road leading to the house was bushy. This was the only house in this environment, the neighbours around were the bushes and the forest.
The sun struck the soil like they had a fight the previous day; the mango tree appeared like a man with pride in his good looks because it created a large shade and looked every fertile, the bungalow was painted light green; a light bulb hanging in the corridor and it glowed in bright yellow flame, one would be quick to ask, where did the light come from? There seem to be no visible travelling of cables to the building. The compound was as quiet as a grave site, only the chanting of monkeys can be heard in the distance and twittering of birds.

“I thought for a moment we would never arrive” Ikenna said as he stepped out of the car and turned his head left and right with his hand then cleaned the sides of his mouth with his hands down to his thick beards; together they moved the bags to the house.
The house was already prepared into a standard sitting room with electronic sets available; the house had two rooms, a kitchen, bathroom and toilet; each room had a bed and ward robe, the kitchen had all a kitchen needed with the refrigerator loaded with drinks.
They moved the loads to one of the rooms then Scott is about to leave
“Wait a minute... are you trekking all the way?” Ikenna asked
“Not at all” Scott walked to the backyard then got on a bike, started it and drove out
“I’ll see you around Agent Silas, call me if you need anything” he said
“Thanks” Ikenna said, Scott drove off
Ikenna entered the house and unleashed the lead boxes, pulled out a laptop, CCTV cameras which he set up at the corridor, backyard, the mango tree and sitting room, the story is about to begin...

CHAPTER TWO
TWO DAYS LATER...
Ikenna had set up himself in the environment and then decided to explore the community a little to see if he could get his hands on one or two things. Got in his Toyota Camry and drove off; the road was dusty and guarded by bushes on both sides; driving down south from his house he constantly looked to the east of the bushes which led into the forest and on the west in the distance are brown roofed houses; there was no sight of mansions. After driving a while he stopped in front of a restaurant; few persons sitting outside, eating and talking, he stepped out of his car and walked towards the store; tables and chairs arranged outside the store. There were four elderly men sitting outside and drinking palm wine and laughing, Ikenna greets them and they responded fine and continued with their discussion. One or two other persons looking at Ikenna as he found a sit; obviously because his face was new
A young woman walked to Ikenna
“Welcome sir, what would you like?”
“do you have rice?” he asked
“There is white rice and jollof rice”
“Ok, give me white rice with sauce and two meats”
“Ok sir, what about drink”
“Give me a can malt”
“Ok sir” she walked away
Ikenna kept looking around the place and the faces staring at him, he glanced to his left and his eyes catches something, he quickly looked again and this time his pupils dialates, he looked away, refusing to believe what he saw
“Can someone be this beautiful?” he said to himself; the lady he saw was fair and elegant without compare; she sat quietly, not eating anything, she looked flawless
“Surely this one is a marine spirit” he added noticing the way she stared at the forest, he turned his head away
“General had warned me against this”
“Surely I must avoid this one like a plague” he said then looked away, slowly he looked at her again then looked away, he looked at her again then looked away, touching his beards he thinks for a while
“Just talk to her a little so you wouldn’t be bored... at least, that wouldn’t ruin the mission” he said to himself
“Bleep you General Jide” he stood up and walked to her, he sat down facing her directly. She didn’t turn to look at who was sitting before her but kept her gaze on the forest; the waitress brought the food to Ikenna
“Thanks” he said
“Hello Miss” he said calmly, she slowly turned her head to look at him; he was shocked to see blue eyes
“Wow” the word escaped his mouth without permission; she looked at him for 5 seconds then looked back at the forest
“Well, my name is Julius Ceasar” he introduced, she turned to look at him
“Do you know me?” her first words came with a pleasant voice, he was a little puzzled with the question
“I’m about to”
“Then why do you lie to me” she asked, now he was shocked
“What do you mean?” he asked, pretending not to understand her, she looked at the forest then looked back at him then rested her elbow on the table with palm under her jaw
“Your name is not Julius Ceasar” she said looking into his eyes, he couldn’t believe his ears “How the hell did she know that?” he thought to himself; she stared at him and he felt uncomfortable with her eyes, he knew she would identify his next lie
“Ok, I’m Ikenna Silas” he said
“Why are you here?” she asked
“Excuse me?” he asked
“You know you wouldn’t eat that food so why buy it?” she said, he was shocked because she was damn right, he was only there to listen to conversations
“You are here to listen to people’s conversations” she added, he was speechless as he stared at her with mouth slightly open, she smiled then brought down her hand from the table
“Ikenna! What you are looking for can kill you... they already know you are here” she got up
“By the way, I like your beards” she said and walked away; Ikenna still processing the whole drama that happened
“How the hell did she know all that? Who the hell is she?” he asked himself, he looked around but couldn’t see her anymore, he kept the money for the food under the plate then left.

Driving back home, he came across some persons in black coming out from a compound, people crying
“Sorry excuse me... what happened” Ikenna asked a young man
“A family lost their daughter to some ritual killers... she was buried today” he said then walked away; Ikenna drove slowly as he looked in the crowded compound to see people crying...

He drove back home, parked the car under the mango tree then walked to his door and was shocked to see blood all over the floor of the corridor, he got angry but not scared, the blood had trails to the back which he followed to discover a bloody corpse lying at the backyard
“Bleep!” he pulled out his gun
“Who the hell did this in my house?” he asked, he dragged the body into the bushes and into the forest then comes out only to discover that the blood stain in the backyard was gone, the blood trails was gone, he got to the front yard and discovered all the blood was gone. He quickly entered his house and grabbed his laptop to see if the cameras caught anything...
He checked all the rooms for safety, then goes back to his laptop, goes to the camera recordings, he rewinds the camera which goes black after a while, he got pissed but then clicked play.
The corridor is empty but after watching for 6 seconds a man walked into view in the corridor holding a machete and tied a black cloth round his waist with no shirt and he looked elderly, two other men dressed same way walked to him, they all stood there like they were watching something and suddenly two other men came dragging another man on the ground, the surround their victim then one of the men raised his machete to strike but then the camera goes black
“Shit!” Ikenna tried to get it to view but couldn’t, he sat down there thinking of what to do or how to explain what just happened... suddenly the camera comes on, he quickly adjusted his chair closer to see... all he could see was blood all over the corridor and surprisingly he watched as each men disappeared into thin air, they disappeared one after the other and as they did the camera flicked continually; Ikenna turned off the camera and sank into his chair, he needed no one to tell him he was in for a very supernatural battle...
Being buried in oblivious was one thing he despised so much; he needed answers but didn’t know how to get any. He decided to go out again and observe the community; he went out but couldn’t find anything useful neither did he meet the pretty lady again

NEXT DAY...
He knew that this person knows he is here to find them out...
He sets out in his car again down the dusty path and after driving some distance, he sees the lady from yesterday he met at the food store sitting on a small timber by the bushy road side and still staring at the forest. Ikenna quickly parked his car and ran out, crossed the small road and went close to her, sitting down beside her. She didn’t turn to look at him; Ikenna looked at her for some seconds then looked at the forest, he looked at her again then looked at the forest, he probably wondered what she was looking at so seriously
“You Love the forest” he said
“No I don’t” she replied without looking at him
“But why are you so interested in the forest? Looking at it so seriously like you caught an interest” he said
“There is something happening in this forest” she said, still looking at the forest
“And... what could that be?” he asked; she turned her face to look at him
“Would you give your life for your job?” she asked Ikenna, he was silent for some seconds
“Honestly speaking I wouldn’t but my job continually demands my life” he replied
“Then why are you here” she asked
“I don’t get you” he said
“What you seek can take your life besides it wouldn’t matter because your job demands your life” she said
“Please stop... look, no one can scare me, ok? If you want to tell me something then do and stop speaking in strange tongues... I know something strange is happening in this community and I’m going to find out but that’s not why I approached you the first time”
“You approached me because you wanted to woo me” she said
“Honestly speaking, it was love at first sight” he said
“I don’t believe in that” she said
“I know you can see my mind, so tell me if I’m lying” he said and she smiled
“You’re being honest because it cannot work between us” she said
“And why not?” he asked
“We live in different worlds” she said
“if I would have to come to your world then I will” he said and she looked at him with a little bit of surprise
“Did you mean that?” she asked *Ikenna definitely didn’t know the world she was talking about*
“Read my mind” he said and tears rolled down her eyes but disappeared before it reached the ground
“Why do swans die before they sing?” she said with a sad face and lowered her head, Ikenna felt touched but didn’t understand her, he put his hand around her shoulder
“Don’t say that” he said and she rested on his shoulder
“I want you to help me” she said raising her head
“Of cause I will”
“I want you to stop this evil happening in this town”
“I will do everything possible, I promise” he said
“Take me away from here” she said and they both stood up and walked to his car, they got in and drove off to Ikenna’s place.
They arrived at Ikenna’s house but as they walked to the corridor she stopped
“What’s the problem?” he asked
“They have been here” she said looking around
“Who?”
“The evil men” she said and he was silent, he knew she was right
“How did you know?” he asked
“They know you have arrived and they have marked you”
“Come with me” she added as they both walked to his car, got in and drove off

Ikenna driving to nowhere exactly, he constantly looked at her waiting for her to say something but she didn’t as she kept looking at the forest, he began wondering what was in that forest that interested her so much
“Stop here” she finally said, he pulled over; she stepped out the car and he followed
“Follow me... Quickly... Come” she said stretching her left hand to him, he received her hand and they both entered into the forest. Their feet on the dry leaves created a disturbing sound; Ikenna constantly looked around
“Don’t be afraid” she said
“I’m not afraid” he said
“This is an evil forest” she said
“I usually don’t believe such” he said
“You are about to” she replied; she then stopped
“Do you see the ditch over there?” she asked
“Yeah”
“Let’s go see what’s in it” she said walking closer and he followed; getting close they looked in, Ikenna is shocked
“What the hell are those?”
“They are maggots... They are called The Watchers” she said
“The what... Maggots are not this big?” he questioned; the maggots were as big as tubers of yam
“These are no ordinary maggots... they are the ears of the land... Human sacrifices are made to them”
“God! This is evil... this is fucking unbelievable” he pulled out his phone
“What are you doing?” she asked
“I need to send pictures to somebody”
“No way, you will do no such thing”
“Why”
“It would worsen the whole thing” she said
“Abomination!!!” a voice sounded loudly behind them, they both turned to see an elderly man; Ikenna recognised him as one of the elders at the restaurant and he recognised Ikenna.
“You? What are you doing here?” he asked Ikenna
“Your evil days are numbered motherfucker” Ikenna pointed a gun at him
“How dare you come before the great ears... do you think that can kill me?” he challenged Ikenna and got a hot shot in the head, the body dropped to the ground like wood
“How is that possible?” she asked, knowing that a gun wasn’t suppose to kill him
“Silver bullets baby” he said walking to the corpse, dragged it and dropped it in the deep ditch, he watched as the maggots consumed the body
“We have to leave now” she said and pulled him quickly; they ran out the forest to Ikenna’s car
“Stop! Wait” Ikenna said as they stood in front of his car
“What is going on here? Who are You? How did you know I wasn’t telling you my real name?... How did you know my mission here? Why are you helping me?” he asked; she smiled as she walked to him
“I know you want answers... You’ll get them” she kissed his cheek then walked towards the forest
“Where are you going?” he asked
“Go home Ikenna... the rain is coming” she said walking away; Ikenna looked up but the sky was clear
“There is no rain?” he said and looked in her direction but she was gone; he did not understand what she meant just yet. He got in his car and drove off...

Bro. How far??
Please keep posting. I'm out of the country now, to be back next week. Once I land, I swear to whatever you serve, I'll credit your account. Please keep posting. Thank you.
BTW... Ikenna has a very good approach to situations. He knows how to get hold of you emotionally as far as he gets what he wants, as in the case of the spirit girl. He had arrested her emotions with fake love. She's falling for him already. But he's going to use her to get the mission done. It's no doubt he has gotten married to his job and would die for his job. If not, he would have been scared and likely given up already after all he'd seen in just few days of arrival. Please keep posting.

CHAPTER THREE
9:30pm
Ikenna laid on his bed but couldn’t sleep, he kept thinking of what the lady showed him yesterday; the thought of who she was kept growing in his mind; throughout today he didn’t see her. His outing in the village today didn’t yield much; he heard side talks about a missing elder, he knew it must be the elder he killed yesterday. He also managed to hear that the chief priest would soon find the kidnapper; he was ready for anything they brought to his door step.
Suddenly he heard foot steps behind the house; his room was closest to the forest. The room was dark and quiet except for the ceiling fan blowing loudly, he moved the curtains slightly, to see dark figures moving out the forest, about 5 men with machetes, he got up and slowly picked up his gun, he entered the sitting room quietly, he moved to his laptop in the darkness, opened it to check the cameras but discovered the outside was too dark, he moved to the switch to turn the outside lights on; immediately he turned it on, he heard footsteps run off into the bushes...
He sat on the sofa as he looked around the house then suddenly he heard the sound of bell ringing from the distance, he picked his gun, turned off the outside lights then went outside, he locked the door then quietly walked towards his car, he squats there for some seconds then moved into the dark road. After moving some distance, he could hear the bell sound louder, he saw two men walking away so he walked to them
“Hey” he said pointing his gun at them; the men turned to him
“You?” one of the men said as he recognised Ikenna but Ikenna didn’t recognise him
“You will be the next sacrifice” he said moving to Ikenna, Ikenna pulled the trigger but nothing came out; the gun was empty
“What da Bleep” he was shocked, he had never done something so stupid. Without thinking twice he ran off into the bushes as the men chased but he was faster, he ran fast and out of sight; he spotted a red light glowing from a building, he ran to the building built like a boys quarter; there were two doors there, he knocked on the door
“Anybody here?!” he said as he breaths hard, the door opens as someone came out
“Who are you” an elderly man came out
“I’m in danger” Ikenna said
“Come inside” the man said, Ikenna entered the house, the man shut the door... Ikenna sat on the sofa catching his breath as the ceiling fan rolled hard
“Who are you?” the man asked and suddenly there was a loud bang on the door; Ikenna quickly moved to the back of the door and ready to attack... the elderly man opened the door to see two men with machetes, they talked in Igbo language before leaving... Ikenna came out then sat down
“Thank you” Ikenna said sitting down; the man locked the door the closed the curtains then turned on a small light then sat down looking at Ikenna
“Who are you? Why were those men after you?” he asked; Ikenna explained everything to him
“Young man, you are playing with your life” he said
“That’s the beauty of my job” Ikenna said
“You are lucky those men didn’t catch you”
“Thanks for your help” Ikenna said
“Lets just thank God” he said; Ikenna looked at the TV and saw a picture on it, he stood up and walked to it and was surprised... in the picture was the elderly man standing beside the beautiful lady he met at the restaurant, she was dressed in NYSC uniform
“That was my daughter” the man said; Ikenna walked back to the chair holding the picture
“She was killed” he said; Ikenna slowly raised his head in shock to look at him
“Dead” he repeated
“Yes... she was a special child... but they took her from me” he said
“Who took her?”
“The king, the chief priest... they said the gods wanted her as a sacrifice so the land will be clean again because they called her an abomination”
“What the hell?”
“Lillian was highly gifted... she could read minds, she could solve problems for people... she was good”
“Why would they do such evil” Ikenna asked
“They said her powers were an abomination to the earth”
“This is madness” Ikenna got angry
“She was 22 when they took her 5 years ago, I never saw her corpse till this day... not a day goes by that I don’t pray to see her again” tears flowed down his eyes
“I’m so sorry” Ikenna said
“But why then do people still go missing?” Ikenna asked
“They said after her sacrifice things would get better but it got worse... then I start wondering what they used my daughter for”
Ikenna full of sorrow and felt his pain, he keeps the picture back then walked to the door
“Where are you going?”
“Thanks a lot, I have people to kill” he walked away into the night...

Ikenna found his way out of the bushes and went home... it was 11:15pm he entered his house then grabbed a gallon of petrol and a torchlight, loaded his gun; he entered his car walked and drove to the forest, he entered the forest and walked to the ditch Lillian took him; on getting close he saw some men there, without talking he shoots all of them dead, pushed their bodies in the ditch then poured petrol in it, pulled out a lighter and lighted the hole; thick flames burning out the hole like hell fire; he walked away, got in his car and drove off... The battle line had been drawn...

CHAPTER FOUR
NEXT DAY
10:47am
Ikenna was seated in the sitting room; on the table is a gun loaded with silver bullets, the table full of bullet cartridges, 3 jack knives, 2 desert eagles and one Beretta; Ikenna looked lost in thoughts as he stared into the air, his heart was angry but he needed to make plans.
There was a quiet knock on the door, he cocked his gun and walked to the door, he opened the door and is surprised to see Lillian, and she smiled then hugged him
“Thank you” she said with eyes closed as she embraced him
“For what?” he asked, she separated herself then looked in his eyes
“For setting that fire last night” she said, he appeared sad
“Lillian what did they do to you?” he said; her smile disappeared
“So you now know” she walked into the house then sat down
“Yes I now know” he replied as he shut the door
“How is my father?” she asked with a sad face
“He’s managing fine”
“I feel bad when I see him lonely” she said
“What happened to you Lillian?” he walked close to her
“Something I hate to remember... something painful”
“What did they do to you” he squatted in front of her and held her hand
“They made me suffer... the high priest cut deep into my skin... I hate to remember” she withdrew her hand then stood up and walked some distance from him as tears rolled down... she turned and suddenly her looks changed horribly to shock Ikenna
“Jeez!” he exclaimed as he moved backwards
“This is what they did to me” she cried; she was covered in blood, her blouse now soaked in blood, one of her eyes removed and blood flowed down, one of her arm had been cut off, her head was broken and bleeding and she appeared battered... Ikenna turned his face away
“Please stop” he said calmly
“They deserve no pity” she said as she sat down; he turned to look at her and she was back to normal
“They are evil... they have to die... I experienced pain beyond compare” she said; Ikenna was hurt and full of anger; she was getting into his head
“They deserve no pity” she said
“I will surely make them pay, they will suffer worse fate” he said
“The village was gathered concerning the fire incident and they were made to believe it was a forest fire” she explained
“tomorrow they will gather to plan an attack on you and on the day after tomorrow four elders will come here to you but be careful, for they will not come for good... it’s a test of your vulnerability... but you must do one thing”
“What” he asked
“They must not go back alive”
“You read my mind” he said as he looked the guns...

TWO DAYS LATER...
Ikenna is outside his house sitting at the front yard like a man with no worries; a plate of meat and cans of malt in front of him on a stool but the sight of a gun on the stool near the plate was a sign that all was not well. With a can in his hand and mouth dancing to the sweetness of the meat, he relaxes comfortably... what was he planning?
Not long four elders walked into the large compound and towards Ikenna they marched in unison with their walking sticks swinging; getting close to him they stopped in front of him; Ikenna was busy looking in another direction like he didn’t notice their presence
“Young man” an elder said, Ikenna ignores; the elders look at each other
“Young man! I’m talking to you” he repeated
“Don’t raise your voice so you don’t add your dirty saliva to my food” Ikenna said without turning to look at them, they appeared surprised
“Look at this small boy” another said, Ikenna looked at them
“You walked into my compound for unknown reasons, you refused to greet and all you could say is young man... Are you sure old age is not affecting your thinking ability?” Ikenna blasted them
“Chineke! Aru! How dare you?!” an elder spoke pointing his stick at Ikenna
“Remove that stick from my face before I advance your ugliness”
“Young man you have bitten more than you can chew”
“I have bitten bigger problems” Ikenna said
“This one will destroy you”
“A snake does not swallow a porcupine because the stomach will suffer death” an elder said
“Save your bullshit proverbs for yourself” Ikenna said
“You will be dealt with” another pointed his stick at Ikenna, Ikenna reluctantly picked up his gun
“I told you not to point that thing at me again” he said as he pointed to the elder with the gun; they laughed
“Do you think your vain white men toy can kill us?”
“Just point that stick one more time” Ikenna said
“You will not leave this village alive” another said; the gun sounded loud and accurate to the head of an elder who dropped to the ground like wood, the others being shocked attempts running
“One more step and you all drop dead” he said and they stopped, he made them carry the corpse of the dead elder to the back yard and into the bush he took them all. In the bush was a big ditch he dug, he instructs them to throw the body in the ditch which they obeyed
“They must not leave here” Lillian said from behind, he recognised her voice so he didn’t turn
“They won’t” he replied
“Drop those sticks in the hole” he said to them and they did it
“Put your hands at the back of your head and face the hole” they obeyed without complain as he pointed the gun at them
“Kill them!” Lillian said but Ikenna hesitated
“Kill them!”
“Kill them now!” she said
“Shoot them!” she pressured but he still didn’t
“What are you waiting for?”
“Do it!”
“Ok enough” he said as he lowered the gun
“What are you doing?” she asked looking surprised
“I cannot just kill them... you are getting into my head” he said
“You are doing the right thing” she said in calm voice trying to touch his face
“No don’t touch me” he moved backwards; the elders were looking at him thinking he was insane as he was busy talking to himself
“I will have them arrested” he said
“This is no police battle”
“Allow me decide that” he said
“You are not to decide!” she said angrily
“This is my assignment!” he replied immediately in anger; she stares at him for 3seconds
“Well then, good luck with your mission” she faded away like smoke; Ikenna felt bad, he turned to see the men looking at him
“I thought I told you to face the hole” he said and they quickly turned
Ikenna exhales loudly
“I hope I’m doing the right thing” he pulled out his phone and called Lt. Scott
“I have three suspects in captivity”
“I will be there in 30mins” the line went off. One by one he tied them up and taped their mouth...

“It’s getting really interesting; those men came to show off serious threats, I have their conversation; I also recognise two from a video of human ritual carried out in front of my door step” Ikenna said
“Did you say ritual in front of your door step?” Lt. Scott asked rhetorically
“I believe worse is on the way” Ikenna said
“You must be careful Agent” Lt. Scott said
“I will send you videos” Ikenna said
“Good job Agent... good job”
“Keep those men, they are dangerous... I will get back to you” Ikenna said
“Call me if you need anything” Scott said
“Thank you” Ikenna said; Scott got in a black van and drove off...

NEXT DAY
Some police men arrived Ikenna’s compound, escorted by two elders; Ikenna sitting outside with his laptop
“Good morning sir”
“Good morning” Ikenna replied
“I am officer Obi and this is my partner Officer Joel... may I know your name?”
“I am Julius Ceasar”
“When did you arrive here?”
“We got information that four elders came to your house yesterday and are presently missing”
“And what exactly would they be doing in my house? I don’t have any close relationship with the community”
“We would like to search your place” the officer said
“No problem but I need to see your search warrant” he said, the officers looked at each other
“Ok then... we will be back for a search” they said and left with the elders
You are welcome when you have a search warrant” Ikenna said.... but there were no police stations in the community, where did the officers come from?

Bro.
Please keep posting.
lol. Thanks I Will Keep Postin smiley

CHAPTER FIVE
ONE WEEK LATER

It’s been a week and Ikenna had not set eyes on Lillian, he surely cannot deny that everything is beginning to appear more difficult and complex, he surely didn’t know how to make a next move; his rivals are yet to launch another attack on him, maybe they are strategizing on something new or maybe they have prepared a trap for him...
Suddenly he remembered running to the house of an old man who coincidentally happened to be Lillian’s father, he concluded he was going to go see the old man again so as to get more information about the village

After about an hour he left the house, took a walk in the direction he was chased, walked through the bushes; this time the journey seemed to be appearing longer making him think he was getting lost but not quite long he found it...
“You are the young man was here about two weeks ago” the elder said as both are standing outside
“Yes I am”
“Thank God you are alive”
“There is something I want to discuss with you” Ikenna said
“Lets go inside”...
Both them seated facing each other, a table between them; Ikenna hesitates
“I know this might sound crazy but I do see your daughter” the old man is silent a while
“Explain better”
“I met your daughter Lillian, the week I arrived here and ever since, she has been very helpful through my mission but now I haven’t seen her or heard from her since over a week now and itb has affected me because she understands the secret things which I don’t... she is the only one who knows how to get me close to these evil men” he explained, the old man is silent
“So you see my daughter” he said quietly then looked to the picture on the TV, he got up then walked towards it
“They can kill her body but her soul and spirit will never rest until everyone of them is dead” tears rolled down one of his eye; Ikenna stood up in sympathy
“I will make everyone of them pay” Ikenna assured him; the old man looked at the picture then walked back to his seat
“Please be seated” he said to Ikenna then sat down, Ikenna does same
“I need names of people who were parts and initiatives of her murder” Ikenna requested; the old man looked Ikenna in the eyes
“One of those who spear headed my daughter’s killing is a man known as Obara-Agu (Blood of a Tiger) he is known to be very powerful and wicked... justice must start at his door step”
“Where can I find him?”
“He is always eating and drinking at the popular dog meat pepper soup joint down town”
“Is there a shrine in the villages”
“There are so many shrines my friend... many in the homes of villagers who are worshippers of Njaba... some shrines are headed by native doctors in small bushes but there is a most dangerous shrine located deep in the evil forest, it is known to be the place where all missing persons are taken to... that is the shrine of Njaba; a very deadly deity of worship, it is said that no strange goes there and c comes back alive because it holds a lot of shocking secrets; even the chief priest must appear before Njaba naked else he be stroke dead instantly”
“So what has the police ever done” Ikenna asked; the old man laughed lightly
“You are funny my son... there isn’t a single police station in this village... the police can not stand a chance with these men”
“Police men came to my home for questions last week”
“Those were agents of manipulations sent to you... the battle you have entered in no small one... in this war zone, the law cannot save you”
“I have seen worse” Ikenna said
“You wish you had”
“What about the king?” Ikenna asked
“That is a big one”
“The king has not been seen for over 5years,, ever since they killed my daughter... rumour has it that he has built a mansion in the land the gods had provided for him”
“bullshit” Ikenna said
“You have not seen anything yet” he said, Ikenna is silent a while
“I have to go now” Ikenna got up
“thank you very much for your help” Ikenna said
“you are welcome” he escorted Ikenna outside, Ikenna walked down the two steps then walked away
“Ikenna!” the old man called, Ikenna turned
“I see a light of hope in your heart... I believe you can save us all... if you need any help, I am ready to assist” Ikenna smiled a little then nodded lightly..

TWO DAYS LATER
Ikenna hasn’t left the house for 2 days, he spent time making plans and thinking. He planned on monitoring Obaraa-Agu and bringing him to submission, he also thought of finding a way to speak to Lillian but how was that going to be possible
As Ikenna thought, his phone rang, he quickly p;icked the call
“Hello agent”
“Hello Lieutenant”
“its a surprise to hear from you, you got something for me?” Ikenna asked
“yes I do... we got them talking”
“Awesome, what did they say?” Ikenna adjusted his sitting posture
“All the missing persons in the community are being transported to a secret place”
“Where is this secret place?”
“They don’t even know”
“What else?”
“They talked about a particular lady called Lillian Uzoma” Ikenna's eyes widen
“What did they say about her?”
“She was sacrificed to their gods for the purpose of empowering and protecting the land”
“Did they say what happened to her body”
“They said her body was cremated”
“That’s a fucking lie!”
“How did you know that?”
“Listen Scott, a lot of supernatural shit is going on here which I must dig... I have seen the lady”
“What do you mean by you have seen the lady?”
“She’s some spirit and I communicate with her, she helped me capture those men in your custody”
“This is really some crazy shit” Scott said
“I have something to do now... get more words from them”
“I’ll get back to you” Scott hanged up; Ikenna exhales loudly...

A NEW WEEK...
Ikenna sets out in his car to the pepper soup joint in town where he is surprised to meet a catching number of persons eating and drinking... was it really dog meat that captured these people or something else was involved? He thought to himself.
He sat down inside, few persons stared at him as he looked new around there; every other person was busy gisting and eating; where he sat a young lady walked to him
“Welcome sir” she said with a light smile; Ikenna looked at her and felt his skin sweat and hair stand... she was bright skinned, as beautiful as Lillian, she was in a blue top and tied wrapper; even the wrapper could not hide the size of her backside, she was an art work of magnificence, she glowed in her bright skin, she was just too beautiful... what was she even doing here as a sales girl
“hello? Sir?” she called back his attention
“So sorry” he said
“Would you like something?” she asked
“yes.. a bottle of malt will do”
“Is that all”
“Yes, thank you” she looked a little surprised
“You don’t want pepper soup?” she asked because no one enters without getting a plate
“What type of pepper soup?” he asked
“its dog meat” she said
“okay? I think I will pass” he said, she smiled and walked away and returned with the drink
“You have never eaten dog meat” she said
“Not even in my dream” he said, she laughed lightly
“how about we do something”
“What”
“how about I give you a plate of pepper soup for free and if you don’t like it, you don’t get to pay for the drink but if you finish it, you’ll pay two times the price for this drink... what do you say?” she said, he smiled
“Am I allowed to spit it on the floor?” he asked
“Sure” she smiled then walked away, returned with a plate of dog meat pepper soup, Ikenna stared at the bright shining meal
“Bon apetite” she walked away... he picked up the spoon and tasted the soup, he raised his brow in agreement to its sweet taste, he picked up a meat and took a bite, he immediately knew he had lost the bet... after a while she returned to meet empty plate
“I don’t know how you did it but I think I want another of this... I am paying double for everything” she laughed, walked away and returned with another plate, he started consuming
“I will be back” she said and left him, he nodded as he continued eating then suddenly he heard someone call “Obara-Agu”, he paused then turned his head to his right to see some group of men chatting and greeting each other, he listened to them as he ate, not long two men stood up with Obara-Agu and walked out, Ikenna quickly counted #5000 and put it on the table and put the second unopened can malt on it, he then walked out the shop. The men separated and went different ways, Obara-Agu got on his bike and drove off, Ikenna got in his car and followed him until he arrived at his compound which had a coconut tree in the centre; Ikenna drove past the house..

NIGHT
Ikenna laid on his bed to sleep but couldn’t find sleep, he kept thinking of Lillian
“Lillian, if you can hear me I am very sorry please I need your help” he spoke to the room in the darkness
Suddenly he started hearing someone playing the local igbo flute with beautiful melody, he sat up as the music continued, he turned on all the outside bulbs but it continued, he carried his gun and loaded bullets, he entered the sitting room, everywhere was quiet as only the ceiling fan can be heard.
Suddenly the music started fading, he knew the person was walking away, he opened the curtain lightly to see a figure walking away, he quietly opened the door and walked out and slowly followed the music
Ikenna walked down the dark path, he could hardly see the figure ahead of him but could hear the sound of the local flute so he kept moving. He had walked far away from his house but still continued following the music; he then saw a six storey building under construction, the building had so many windows, big and small but the building was full of darkness except for the ground floor; there was a bright light shinning at the ground floor from the inside.
The music had led him this way but why? The music suddenly stopped, he looked around then walked closer to the building which had piles of sand around it and bamboos and irons attached to its walls; there was a big door in front and he was about to open it when he heard a voice
“There is no where to run?” Ikenna turned to see four men; two were quite muscular and had no shirt on but just black shorts, the other two were on native attire with one holding a walking stick who happened to be Obara-Agu
“You have ventured into activities that doesn't concern you” Obara said loudly
“it is an abomination for spied to come into the land and I tell you that tonight you will die” Obara said; Ikenna looked at his gun then looked at Obara
“Actions speak louder” Ikenna said, Obara smiled and then ordered the two muscular men to stand in front of him and he said some incantations and then touched them with his staff and the most unbelievable happened before Ikenna... both men immediately became two big monster dogs standing at four feet, their barking was like roaring of a lion
“Since you like action, here is some action” Obara said; Ikenna ran off towards the building, he climbed a pile of sand and jumped into a window, falling to the floor in the darkness, he began looking for his way through the darkness, he found the door by touching the walls, he ran out the door into the dark corridor and there was silence but he could hear the snaring of the beasts getting closer, quickly he moved in the darkness, fortunately he found a stair case which he followed up, he kept climbing higher although there were no hand rails but he kpt going, he could still hear the dogs following, he diverts into an opening that led him into a brighter path, there he could see the center of the building was a very large hall like a church, but there were no chairs just iron rods going up and down the whole place supporting the building. As he stood in the light one of the dogs came out from the darkness and here he had a closer look at the creature which looked really fearful and then a voice said to him “pour some dust to its face” he looked around but the floor was concrete, the dogs were getting closer, he quickly followed the set of stairs leading into the hall, the dogs followed him and about to catch him but he jumped onto one of the iron bars and began climbing up; the bars were arranged vertically and horizontally, he kept going higher, the dogs began breaking the irons from the base with their teeth and making Ikenna unstable as he climbed but he kept going as he looked up he saw the bloodied figure of Lillian and got startled and missed a step and lost his grip and fell straight down to the ground but he suddenly woke up before he hit the ground...

It had been a dream all the while, he looked at the time it was 9am, he cleaned his eyes then got up...
Two hours later he was out in town again, after driving some distance he stopped to pee and after urinating he turned and saw Obara walking towards his direction, Ikenna then waited so as to take a closer look at his face
“You are very lucky” Obara said as he walked past Ikenna with a wicked smile
“Is that how you welcome visitors in your community” Ikenna said, Obara stopped then turned
“Visitor or spy” Obara asked
“They say the first time is a mistake so let me warn you never to try that nonsense you did again... The last thing you want to do is piss me off” Ikenna said standing in Obara’s face who looked surprised
“Warn me?”
“You have guts” Obara said as both men look each other in the eyes
“This is reality not a dream land, so why not make a move now and watch me Bleep up your horrible face” Ikenna said, Obara could see the fearlessness in him
“(chuckles) you are like an antelope living in the community of tigers... your people will have nothing left of you to bury because I will personally suck the marrow in your bones” Obara laughed as he walked away
“You are no tiger!” Ikenna said and Obara stopped to listen
“You are a dog like in the dream but you forget something” he said, Obara turned to face him
“In this community dogs end up in the pot” Ikenna entered his car and drove away leaving Obara in anger
“We shall meet again” Obara said...

Ikenna arrived at the dog soup restaurant but this time met fewer persons there even the external extension had very few persons, he entered and sat down inside then took out his phone; a Samsung galaxy S9+
“No one uses such gadget around here” a female voice said, Ikenna raised his face to see the beautiful lady
“And why is that?” he asked
“It’s kind of complicated” she sat down facing him
“I see... how is work going”
“We thank God”
“I’m surprised to see fewer persons today” he said looking around
“The dog meal is yet to be prepared” she smiled
“Oh I see... and about the dog soup, that was really tasty”
“Thank you for that” he said
“You are welcome... you just left like that yesterday”
“So sorry, I had something to do” he said
“You over paid” she said
“Yeah? Well then take it as an extra for the good job” he said, she smiled and dropped some money on the table
“Here is your change from yesterday” she pushed the money to him, he was a little surprised
“Don’t you think your boss wouldn’t like that” he said
“She would love it perfectly”
“Then you keep it”
“No thank you” she said
“I can’t take it back” he pushed back to her
“Why?”
“I’m a giver not a taker”
“Ok take it as a gift from me to you” she said and he laughed
“You are gifting me my change... you are funny” he said, she turned then called one of her girls, the young girl walked down to her quickly
“Ma?”
“Here... you can have it” she hands the money to the girl who smiled
“Thank you ma” the girl leaves; Ikenna looked a bit surprised
“Wait a minute...” he paused
“You own this place” he said
“Yes sir” she said
“Waw! I’m impressed... you have done well for yourself”
“Thank you”
“My name is...” he paused and thinks which name to say; the way she was looking at him looked similar to that of Lillian’s, those beautiful eyes that can detect lies
“Ikenna Silas”
“Why did it take you so long to say your name”
“Same question I am asking myself right now” he smiled, she laughed
“You’re funny... I’m Oluchi Nicholas” she smiled, he shook her hand
“What would you like to drink” she asked
“A bottle of malt” he said and she signalled one of her girls to bring it
“So what brings you to our community?” she asked
“Well... I am a scientist... a natural scientist... I study nature and animals” he lied
“Interesting” she said, he looked at his time
“I have to go now” he said getting up, she looked a little disappointed
“So quick?”
“Need to go do something... maybe you can tell me where you stay so I can pay a visit” he said
“No you tell me where you stay so I can pay a visit” she said
“Just head west, get to the old catholic church then turn right and go straight up north to the end, you will see a large mango tree standing in a large compound with a car under the tree... I don’t stay in the tree, there is a house in the compound” he said she laughed
“Ok thats easy, I will come around” she then escorted him outside, then went back inside, he walked to his car
“Excuse me” a voice said, he turned to see a young man
“Yes?” he said
“Good day” he greeted
“Good day” Ikenna responded
“She is very beautiful I know” he said
“What are you talking about” Ikenna asked, the stranger looked left and right
“Stay away from Oluchi” he said calmly
“And why is that”
“Please don’t be stubborn”

“How can you walk up to me for no reason and tell me to stay away from someone just like that”
“Let me tell you something” the stranger said
“There are so many beautiful women in this village but Oluchi Nicholas and Lillian Uzoma were exceptionally more beautiful. Unfortunately Lillian was sacrificed to Njaba, the god of the land who desired her as wife because of her exceptional beauty and spiritual gifts”
“On the other hand, no one dares go close to Oluchi”
“And why is that” Ikenna asked
“Because Obara-Agu, the second strongest man in the village desires her as wife”
“I’m not interested in all this shit talk” Ikenna said
“Listen, young men like you have died because of this woman; Obara-Agu is very wicked and deadly, he will kill you too once he sees you with her... I’m warning you” the stranger said then walked away
“Wait” Ikenna said and the stranger stopped
“I want you to deliver a message to Obara whatever you call him” Ikenna said, the stranger looked confused
“Tell him I have him on my death list and in few days he’s going to stop breathing” Ikenna entered his car and drove off leaving the stranger in surprise...

Ikenna got back home, went into the house and saw Lillian sitting
“Oh my God Lillian” he was happy to see her and he walked towards her
“Don’t come near me” she said without looking at him, he stopped; he knew she was still angry at him as she sat there
“I’m so sorry... I just... Save it please” she cuts in
“You have made a terrible mistake” she said
“What do you mean”
“I asked you to kill them but you decided to do it your way”
“I have them in custody” he said
“That is not enough... their staffs will testify on their behalf”
“I don’t get you” he said
“the walking sticks they carry are mystical objects that will speak to the chief priest against you” she explained
“But I buried them in the forest” he said
“That is why it is taking them long to find it and once they do, you are dead” she said
“Ok so what do we do?” he asked
“We?” she looked at him
“You must be joking... its your mission so the ball is in your court”
“Lillian don’t do this to me... I’m sorry... are you going to watch them kill me?” he said, she looked at him then looked away; she surely wouldn’t watch Ikenna die
“Henceforth, you listen to me” she said
“Yes madam” he said
“I’m not joking” she said
“I wasn’t joking too” he said
“You have to kill those men and their sticks will die along with them, in that way the priest is left with nothing” she said; Ikenna picked his phone and called Scott
“Hello Scott”
“Hello Agent”
“There’s a problem right now”
“What is it?”
“I need you to kill those men”
“You mind explaining why?” Scott asked
“If you don’t my life is on the line”
“Come on Agent be clearer”
“Lieutenant, this is very complicated right now... if you want me to complete this assignment, you will end those men right now” Ikenna said, Scott is silent
“Are you there?” Ikenna said
“Ok I will do it”
“Thank you! Please do immediately”
“I will” Scott said; Ikenna hanged up then sank in the chair, Lillian got up from her seat and sat beside him
“Every single person you will kill were a part of my death and a greater step to stopping all these evil”
“I promise you, I will do everything to end all these”
