in the Bible the Jews fought war not Christians because at that time God was interested in securing a nation on earth where his will will be done.
now God is no longer interested in national boundaries. he is interested in whoever want to, in all the nations.

verse 37 should confirm to that the sword was meant to fulfill a prophecy about him not attack humans. that is why Jesus condemned a disciple few moments later when that same very sword he ask for was use to remove someone ear.

Seeing the word atheism on your post I'm going to make a presumption that that's what you subscribe to.

A belief that no God or Supreme being exists.

Your mistake is in thinking of the "Christian God" or the "Moslem God" as being the Creator of and Originator of Life.

All religions have imperfect view of who or what The Ultimate is.

Yes, I am Catholic, yet I know that all churches' views and conceptions of God are very imperfect and mostly misconceptions.

All those passages you cited in the Bible are just historical narratives of what the Jews did or didn't do.

It has got nothing to do with the Creator of the Universe.

People who write these things down have associated their own version of God to be a part of the narrative.

It doesn't necessarily mean it is so.

Look at it this way.

You wake up in the middle of the night and look out the window into the darkness. Then you see a being shinning bright and surrounded by white light looking so radiant.

If the person is going to write that down later, it will be colored severely by the religious beliefs of that person be you a Catholic, a Protestant, a Moslem, a Buddhist, a nature worshipper or whatever.

Same with most of the narratives in the Bible.

The Catholics will swear that the Bible supports their claims.

The Protestants of various denominations will claim that the Bible is being interpreted best in their church.

An understanding of what the Bible is, is key to understanding what the Bible is not
Those passages you quoted are not proof that God doesn't exist.

They are proof that there have been religious people in the past. That's all.

Encounter true and real spirituality and you will never go back. Not the clapping and dancing and entertainment that goes on in churches and mosques these days.

People use the name of God to justify a lot of evil. That has always been the practice of those who don't have any knowledge of God. There are church denominations that call on God to kill their enemies, like you've rightly said. They forget the passage where Jesus encourages them to pray for their enemies.

Many times, we want to make peace, but we don’t want to be seen as a weakling. The reverse is however the truth. It takes strength to control one’s ego, anger and work towards peace. Hence, it is a strong but wise person that will seek peace.

Whenever you’re tempted to fight, remember that unbelievers don’t read the Bible, hence it is we the Christians that model Christ to them. If you claim that the Prince of Peace lives in you and you are the quarrelsome type, many unbelievers will not want that your ‘Prince of Peace’ to live in them. Secondly, making peace with others is one of the prerequisites to making it to heaven on the last day. Hebrews 12:14 says:

“Follow peace with all men, and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.”

I guess Seun was forced to protect muslims from the peacemakers. Even with this oath of allegiance present, i still see numerous die hard 'children of God' accepting it for weeks on their profile just to go and make more peace on muslim threads. I was a christian once upon a long time ago, but to be fair, muslims on NL are not having it easy at all even when they are discussing their own thing like how to clean themselves after toilet. What concerned peaceful children of God on that thread and others like it, I guess I will never know. Ironically, I almost never see muslims on christian themed threads.

But what can I say? Peace must be made at all costs.
